OT meta-Gaf is like a bad wrestling show. Too many story-lines that aren't interesting and go nowhere, the real talent goes unnoticed, and everyone trying to keep up gimmicks that nobody believes or care about.
 
Personally, I love this change in policy, as the faux-outrage crowd no longer can complain about "PC"-gaf oppressing them whenever their weak arguments are destroyed :p

When someone is acting like an idiot on this forum, don't jump down their ass sideways right off the bat. Let them continue on. "So why do you feel that way?" "Where did you get that idea?" etc. They'll gladly go on because everyone loves to talk. They'll dig their grave for you while you sit back and get a crowd going. Let them go on and on and on...

How is it sad that people who spend time on a forum treat each other as people? Just because it's online doesn't suddenly mean it's not really human interaction. It's hilariously stupid that people still think making friends or even being social online with people you don't know irl is a shameful thing.

I don't think anyone has a problem with their weak arguments being destroyed. What people have a problem with is the faux outrage a number of posters respond with to someone who posts an opinion that is different than their own. If you think my beliefs and ideas are so grotesque, debate me, try to convince me that I'm wrong and maybe I'll change my ways, instead of clamoring for a mod to ban me. The whole hooting the hollering and the "nice to know yas" was completely counter-productive to GAF as a whole. I hope backseat modding itself should be a bannable offense.

Fully functional ignore lists are annoying as hell. Do you have any idea how bizarre a conversation is when you're talking to one person, then another person who is the one that has you on ignore starts talking to that one person and can't see anything you write and is basically acting as if it's just them and the other person when it's actually a three-person conversation?

It sucks.

It's sad in those instances when people use it as a way of avoiding the real world (not saying you are doing that btw)

The hand-wringing over the releasing of "cunt" proved to be wasted breath/words. The worst we got in the following week was a thread about a bus driver cold-cocking a chick on a bus. And that thread produced some amazing art and videos.

Yah, I could imagine. So why even have the ignore function in its borked form?
 
I think a full ignore list can work if there's a symbol there to show the person is talking to someone on your list than just blank quotes.

Probably a long line with . At least that way if you're curious, you may disable it to see.
