Critic Reviews

Andrenoob - Andres Perdomo - Spanish - 10 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong stands out for its beautiful visual design, challenging combat mechanics, and captivating story. Although it can be difficult, its passionate design offers a rewarding experience for those who enjoy it at their own pace.
CGMagazine - Jordan Biordi - 10 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong takes the masterclass design of its predecessor and elevates it to set a new gold standard in Metroid-like design.
COGconnected - Jaz Sagoo - 90 / 100

Hollow Knight: Silksong manages to live up to the daunting expectations surrounding the sequel. It carries the spirit of the original while introducing fresh mechanics that shape a remarkable adventure, one worthy of standing alongside its predecessor.
Dexerto - Joe Pring - 4 / 5

Silksong is a technical feat. So densely packed is its world that maintaining a laser focus on forward momentum is borderline impossible. At every opportunity, I found myself pausing the main campaign just to prolong my time in Pharloom.
Digitale Anime - Raouf Belhamra - Arabic - 10 / 10

"Game of the Year" Hollow Knight: Silksong isn't revolutionary, but it's a significant improvement on a formula that already had its own unique identity. It offers diverse vertical exploration, faster and more challenging combat, and visuals and audio that are stunning at every turn. Despite some minor issues related to pacing and difficulty, the game proves to be a rewarding and richly detailed adventure, especially for fans of the first installment.
DualShockers - Monica Phillips - 9 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong is an incredible game, only held back by a couple questionable decisions. When the game is at its best, it's far beyond any game I've ever played, near-perfect in its design, and a masterpiece that I can't put down. The combat feels incredible, the visuals are stunning, the story is engaging, and the soundtrack is lovely. At its worst, though, it is extremely punishing, forces you into repetitive segments, and feels occasionally purposefully irritating. I love it with all my heart, but if you aren't willing to put up with intense difficulty, it may not be for you.
EmuGlx.org - Vladimir Glamočanin - Unknown - 9 / 10

All things considered, Silksong is a fascinating adventure—an emotional rollercoaster that dazzles with its audiovisual spectacle, yet at the same time bewilders with a difficulty level that drastically departs from the original. We wholeheartedly recommend stepping into the world of bugs alongside the beloved Hornet, because at its price, everyone deserves to give it a try.
Everyeye.it - Italian - 10 / 10

The grueling years of work between the game's announcement and its current release are almost too much to justify a final result so astonishing it seems like a dream, but fortunately Silksong actually exists and is a monumental Metroidvania.
Game8 - Lloyd Opalec - 98 / 100

Silksong took everything that made Hollow Knight memorable and made it even better. It's a faster and more demanding experience that somehow feels natural for Hornet's journey. Pharloom is a labyrinth of beauty and menace, each corner stuffed with secrets that make getting lost feel like part of the design. Bosses will break you, platforming will bruise you, but the thrill of overcoming both is what makes it unforgettable. It's everything you'd expect after six years of waiting—and then some.
GameSpace - Taoshi - 8.7 / 10

Silksong can be considered an excellent and even exemplary Metroidvania. It is damn nice to play while exploring every picturesque corner of the teeming world. It is gorgeously structured, the modified role-playing system, although it has become a little less diverse, is still pleasant. And the rebalanced battles of the sequel, each duel in which resembles a rhythmic dance, cause an influx of adrenaline. However, the game is not without its flaws.
Gamefa - Persian - 9 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong, with its engaging story, high-quality level design, diverse and creative combat and platforming system, and a first-class role-playing experience, is undoubtedly one of the best Metroidvania games and can become one of your most unique experiences.
Gameliner - Bram Noteboom - Dutch - 5 / 5

Team Cherry showcases their finest work in Hollow Knight: Silksong - a masterful Metroidvania that excels in combat, platforming, and exploration, wrapped in stunning audiovisuals and a hauntingly immersive world, offering a punishing yet unforgettable experience that demands to be played.
GamerFocus - Julián Ramírez - Spanish - Unscored

There's no doubt about the greatness of Hollow Knight: Silksong — It simply is one of the best metroidvania games of all time. But the discourse aroud its difficulty, lack of evolution, and lack of reviews at launch tell a more complicated story.
GamesCreed - Maisie Scott - 5 / 5

Hollow Knight: Silksong isn't just a follow-up; it's a step forward. Team Cherry improved almost every part of a well-known independent classic, including the fighting, movement, world design, and progression, without taking away any of the game's charm or mystery that made it famous in the first place.
GamingBolt - Ravi Sinha - 10 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong is as beautiful and endearing as it is brutal and uncompromising. It isn't a game that newcomers (or even longtime fans) can quickly come to grips with. Yet, Hornet's journey through Pharloom stands as one of the genre's greatest and a testament to pure passion.
Gfinity - Feliciano Mondigo III - 9 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a fantastic sequel well worth the seven-year wait. It's bigger, bolder, and far more challenging than anyone could hope. While its steep learning curve may put off newcomers, longtime fans will appreciate how it maintains its solid metroidvania roots while inching closer and closer to a 2D Soulslike. With over 30+ hours of content for just $20, the depth on offer is nothing short of remarkable.
INVEN - Hongman Yoon - Korean - 9 / 10

The sequel surpassed the original - Silksong achieves what's often deemed impossible. In story, action, and presentation, it embodies everything a sequel should. However, its heightened difficulty may frustrate, feeling unforgiving to anyone who hasn't mastered the first game's toughest challenges.
Just Play it - Louzai Ahmed - Arabic - 10 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong delivers an exceptional, long-awaited Metroidvania experience that combines the thrill of challenge with stunning artistic direction, featuring tough and epic boss battles, breathtaking sound effects, and an immersive soundtrack. All of this comes at a low price compared to other games that cost several times more yet offer far less in terms of quality and content.
Multiplayer.it - Italian - 10 / 10

Silksong is a bit like that simple pasta dish that manages to evoke childhood memories, only made by a Michelin-starred chef with the finest ingredients available. Going against the grain of the industry, the developers have crafted what is undoubtedly the best 2D Metroidvania ever made , incidentally generating a more powerful impact than any AAA production of 2025.
Niche Gamer - Fingal Belmont - 9 / 10

Silksong isn't perfect, but you won't find a better modern metroidvania out there. This was a labor of passion made by people who refused to settle, and you can feel it every step of the way. Everyone working on it was on their A-game, and they held nothing back.
Nindie Spotlight - Justin Nation - 9.8 / 10

Undeniably gorgeous and well-crafted, but also notoriously brutal by design, Silksong is a best-in-class experience, but not for everyone
Noisy Pixel - Bailey Seemangal - 9 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong delivers a meticulously crafted metroidvania experience that refines its predecessor's formula with faster combat, expressive storytelling, and brutally rewarding exploration, though some side content drags down the pacing.
NoobFeed - Azfar Rayan - 100 / 100

Hollow Knight: Silksong is special not only because of how well-made and ambitious it is, but also because of the love that went into every part of it. Fans jokingly called Team Cherry's years of work "development heaven," and it shows. It's not a rushed release that was fixed after it came out; it's a fully realized vision, with every corner made with care.
Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 9 / 10

Promise Wish Granted! Silksong delivers on fans' dreams, but cranks the challenge up a notch too high, even to an unfair amount at times
Screen Rant - Chris Carter - 10 / 10

Hollow Knight: Silksong has a long road ahead of it, and I'm ready to follow it on its entire journey. Whether that includes a swath of free updates just like the original game, or potential DLC, I'll be there. In fact, I'm still there, slowly chipping away at a 100% completion rate. I won't be putting this one down for weeks.
Spaziogames - Italian - 9 / 10

Silksong is a work that should definitely be played by as many people as possible. It is an incredibly well-crafted, enjoyable, and satisfying product, sold at a retail price that is almost a steal considering the effort of the developers themselves. This, however, does not mean that it is the best metroidvania ever made, or that Team Cherry is the first development studio to achieve feats like this. What is certain is that we are facing one of the most beautiful and significant titles of 2025 for countless reasons-not just for gameplay alone.
The Beta Network - Anthony Culinas - Unscored

Silksong feels like everything Hollow Knight fans dreamed it would be. It's smoother, punchier, more alive and way more respectful of your time. Hornet brings the oomph, the world drips with atmosphere, and the bosses are absolute bangers. Honestly, I can't wait to sink another 20 hours into this silken nightmare. Though I'm sure you already bought it before you even read this review. Let's be real.
