Horizon Forbidden West: outsmart your enemies

Looks fun but I really don't like games where the camera is spinning around too much and this looks to have that.. but I have to play it to really see if it bugs me.
The camera spinning that way and the rallenty abuse are all on suhnilegend part, the guy is basically a gif director.

where is that why not both gif when you need it. :messenger_heart:

Love the art style. Colors should pop on a good HDR TV.
There is already enough pop that even sdr looks hdr :lollipop_grinning_sweat: (not even kidding)

Sony need to put a pair of sunglasses inside the cover of the game for people who are gonna play this one in a dark room with hdr.

Yep, I actually like that. Not every game has to be grounded in reality. This feels like uncharted instead of TLOU which is just how it should be.
Yup! I just wish they removed the bandits or at least had no human kills as a choice, to make it family friendly. Robots and dinos is like the ultimate kids fantasy! I once kept away from people and just ran around in the wild to hunt dinos in HZD1 and my youngest one (5) was literally jumping in his seat from how cool he thought it was lol, for him I guess it was Ninjago or something. And even for me the dinos are awesome, for real, everything about them is perfection, designs, names, behaviour. They could've made toys and all kinds of stuff from this IP, easily. But for some reason they had to turn it into Assassin's Creed.

People said the same thing about Forza Horizon 5 and it pretty much looks the same across both generations with some minor LOD changes here and there.

They have already listed the next gen changes.

I find it hard to believe it can look this good on a base PS4 from 2013 but than again, last of us 2 and rdr2 punch way above their weight on a base PS4 so it's possible.

There is zero blood when she kill that chick with her lance, you can tell your son that she is putting them to sleep or some shit if he is little enough.

"Don't worry she just fainted…" lol
Seriously though I just think it's a wasted opportunity, it's the coolest idea ever to combine robots and dinosaurs for kids from 5-10, and the bandits gameplay was boring anyway so I don't mind if they had removed it. The best part for me with HZD1 was carefully bringing down big dinos with traps. I went full on Schwarzenegger in Predator and set up a whole area with traps before I triggered a bosslike bellowback fight. It was awesome! 👌

Very hard first run, ultra hard when it was available with the dlc, anything under ultra hard is a cakewalk after 10-15 hours, ultra hard is the only correct way of playing the game imo.

It's the only mode that force you to use the rpg part for weapons and armours that many people talk shit about (because they played the game on normal)
Your a better player than me then! Did you finish it without new game plus?

If I remember correctly to kill a thunderjaw you needed you hit him with every blast sling you had and that would only get him to about half health and a single tail swipe would kill you.

I'm really not that good, just experienced.

It is better to weaken the TJ by stripping all the weapons he has with the tear blast arrows, after that he can just charge and tail swipe, it's not the hardest dinobot in the game, the giant eagle and the enemies in the dlc are tougher.

it is evident when she moves through the tall grass at the end of this short video , not sure about enemies or NPC characters

There's something like "IF=SteppedOn() THEN WaveyAnimation" for folliage, where it just triggers an animation routine upon collision. Grass can wave, and it can wiggle when stepped on, and there can be for instance the movement of rustling wind or even heavy turbulence and rolling gusts from a storm (which could probably be done with that same animation-trigger system maybe?,) but that would be different from a "crush" system for grasses. (And they couldn't use that animation-trigger trick on big grass because the whole field would go bonkers in every which way if you entered a thicket. Aloy would go one way, and the grass would just billow out of control without direction or speed-of-impact.)

The current game does not seem to actually have 'physics' attached to the grasses still, which is disappointing. Maybe that's still on the to-do list and isn't installed for stability? Or maybe it's just not compatible with how they dynamically generate grasses? (However, big grass tufts like these would probably be hand-placed on the terrain since they're part of the level design/tactics, so I would think these chunks wouldn't have that limitation?)

...Everything else about Horizon FW though looks faboo. Wish it hadn't got pushed to 2022, would have been amazing to have both Horizon and Halo (or Horizon and 'Horizon, for that matter) going head-to-head this year.

I don't understand why they keep showing the 30fps mode, when 60fps would present so much better. It's irritating.
Marketing most games the quality mode is what most devs usually the go to mode to show off their game. Playing at 60fps is the way to go though

its strange that the tall grass does not react to aloy as the PC port does have that on by default .

Er, yeah, huh? I remember that coming up in a different conversation (I was actually looking up Death Stranding grass, which has a grass system but nothing I saw that taxed it differently than Horizon.. didn't even think to look up the PC version.)

That has a lot of the needed physics systems in action (it's not perfect "crush" but it's a game, you don't want the character to be all caught up in the collision system, you just want chunks of it to push down as the character brushes past, and maybe stay down or askew behind them to leave a path,) I'm not sure why it doesn't seem to be in action on the seen foliage in the sequel?

I have a really good feeling about this game. You can feel the love and passion when the Devs talk about this game and that is usually a good sign.

Every time I see the game I think, wow, WTF have Santa Monica been doing all this time!

Guerrilla are schooling them big-time.
Its possible Cory took all the leads with him for his new IP. The A Team so to speak. That's basically what happened in 2010 when Stig took the A Team for his new IP while the b team made the underwhelming GoW Ascension.

Horizon is open world and looks way better than gow which only has one open world section, the lake of nine. The rest is very linear. It should not look this underwhelming. Hell Spider-Man miles looks better so both insomniac and GG are making them look bad. It should look as good as TLOU2, a similarly wide linear last gen game.

I still think the original HZD looks great, so any improvement on that visually is a bonus. I'm more excited for the improvements in gameplay, along with the added variety of enemies and environments. Got the platinum for the first game purely because I enjoyed it so much, and I can't see the sequel being any different.

Looks stunning. Dosent even look like a cross gen game.

Really happy with the amount of stuff they added for melee combat. Melee combat in the 1st game was very basic, this one looks so much fun.

I think that might be the work of the team that ported it to PC, maybe the feature that isn't yet tested/implemented for the PS5 pipeline in the engine.

Looks brilliant! But seems like there pushing more into hyper-realistic approach with those exaggerated moves and agility. The first game had much more weight, but this seems to have more fun factor as it seems.

Well, not every game has to be a walkie-talkie, walking simulator to make me happy so I welcome the change.

There comes a point where you gotta drop realism in favor of gameplay. Horizon has done a great job on living in the two worlds like uncharted

Movement is a big part of what makes games fun for me, which is why I'm excited by Forspoken also. Even kratos has grappling hooks now

Yeah for Horizon it works perfectly as it's already a hyperreality setup. So for me who played the hell out of the first one + DLC it feels a bit floaty, just like some hardcore GOW fans who hate the latest one as it's a major departure from the arcade-ish gameplay GOW series had in the past.

Yeah, one of my big request for Ragnarok was upgraded mobility. I enjoyed 2018 but sometimes kratos felt like a tank. He felt like Leon in RE2/4 and i kind of wanted more bounce. Knowing i can close distance and zip around with blade of chaos is what made me excited for ragnarok

Don't expect too much upgrade though before we cut the cord with last gen. GOW Ragnarok would need to cope with HDD and shite CPU. But I really like the weight I feel in GOW, my best game of all time, as you really feel like you really controlling that pile of muscle yourself. More mobility would help indeed, but I expect it in the next one with faster traversal in real time like gliding with wings or something.

This game looks gorgeous. This is the game that's going to get me to start looking for the PS5 seriously. I enjoyed the world in the first one, but this looks leagues better graphically.

Why is there not more hype for this game?
I finally got a chance to check out the original on PS5 (after having started playing it on the Pro) and the game looks really great.
I can only imagine what the sequel will look like running on my tv.

I'm mad (figuratively speaking) at that flashy melee combat. Should have went out of their ways to make more dynamic ranged with way trickier enemies instead, but oh well guess they wanted to please the wannabee ninjas asking for it to be better

Gameplay looks better than in the first game. Outsmart your human enemies in part 1: Run into a corner and melee them down one after the other.
I think all those open world games don't need sneak kills. It mostly feels like cheating and it's not challenging or satisfying/fun at all.
