Horizon: Zero Dawn confirmed for PC

Dunno why you mustards attack me in this thread though.
I have a Titan Xp. And probably gonna buy next NV or AMD product when it will be clear what the power of ng consoles is.
I skipped on 2080 because its RT perf is too low and alu perf bump is too small on top of what I have today.

Of course people are going to be freaking out about this, and I'm one for believing that exclusives are essential to what makes consoles what they are, but there's really no other way of taking this news other than positivity that if you really enjoy this game, then it releasing to another audience should be nothing other than a great thing.

I don't think they are CPU bound at all.
Why do you think they are?
The game logic is pretty simplistic there.

That's the heavy lifter of your framerate.

You watch, if they pull off 4K/60 on the PC, it will get a PS5 patch with the same. Since a Zen2 is minimum 4x the performance of the Jaguars.

It sounds like a bad idea, because exclusives are one of the main key selling points of PS hardware. Maybe Horizon was too expensive and need extra revenue to compensate it, or maybe they want to push harder the IP and don't care to release a 3 years and a half old game on PC in order to promote the brand before announcing its sequel and maybe movie or tv series.

Let's hope it's an isolated games and they only do it with a few old games more instead of becoming their new trend.

PlayStation Mobile? Bloodborne on Ngage confirmed!

Nope.
PS4 can do everything apart from heavy branching game logic code on GPU.
No need to overload jag cores.
They (Guerilla) use GPU even for procedural terrain generation and tools (see GDC talks).

Pop a Zen2 in the PS4Pro and that shit would have been 60FPS, since it was already locked rock solid at 30, which means the average framerate has to be in the upper 40s pre lock.

I don't think so.
Again they probably not using CPU at all for the frame render.
Even on PC you can feed GPU from GPU with Vilkan (nobody does that, because why bother) but it's pretty possible.

I guess we'll find out. Either way, whatever bonuses the PC gets, that should hopefully translate to a PS5 patch like mentioned earlier in the thread.

Even if Bloodborne came to Steam, I'd double dip for sure. No use in crying or being bummed about pixels, like always people would be upset about it for like a week and then say that everything is normal, PlayStation is still dominating, etc.

Does no one else find it funny that Sony just revealed one of their blockbuster games for PC but have yet to reveal the PlayStation 5 lol?

Agreed. Sony is scared and will use the sales from the PC version of HZD to fund more TeraFlops for the PS5.

Since the 360/PS3 when things really picked up steam (especially since online became a norm for console gaming), there were tons of game franchises that were PC centric, but they morphed to become multiplatform.

Ya, Xbox OG and PS2 had some but it really got going with last gen, especially with all the shooter series going console. And Bethesda RPGs came full tilt for consoles. And then all the small scale/$10 kinds of games which were never on console.

Did PC gamers complain all these games traditionally PC opened up to consoles?

I never saw PC gamers advocating walled garden gaming.

I had a lot of fun with it back in the day but don't think I'll double dip.

Definitely soured myself just slightly going for that 100%. Would recommend to most to stay on the main path and not divert unless you end up somewhat obsessed by the end.
Really? I loved the side stuff.

Buuuut I'm a lore hound, so... :messenger_grinning_sweat:

No, they just whined for over a decade on how consoles were killing/holding back gaming and screeched that the sooner they died, the better.

Completely normal stuff.

Only on Playstation*

(*When is comes to consoles. Sony Entertainment reserves the right to release any game deemed "Only on Playstation" on other platforms, including PS Now, Steam or even archaic disc based games on PC. By purchasing a copy of a Playstation console version of said game, you waive the right to whine about other platforms getting the game, thereby disqualifying the Sony marketing tagline "Only on Playstation" as a statement of truth. Your acceptance of games labeled "Only on Playstation" on other platforms includes your acceptance of even Sony employees playing dumb on Twitter claiming they have no idea of a multiplatform version of the game, even when Sony employees are working on a port)

It was actually funnier before you lengthened it tbh.

I sorta glanced at this trending today thinking, didn't they already announce this. Guess not.
Sad, meltdowns are always better in live.

I guess so. But I don't know how that's better for them than how things were until now.
Up until now it was like "you NEED a playstation to play these games because outside of emulation there's no chance you are getting them on PC".... now they have planted the "it might come to PC" doubt.

But as I said, there's plenty of people that don't want to wait for games (look at all mainly PC players that still buy stuff like GTA or Red Dead on consoles because they want it NOW) so I'd guess they are betting on PC player enjoying Horizon and deciding to grab a Ps5 to play the sequel as soon as possible.

I'm just saying, if I was a PC only player I think this would make me less likely to buy a Ps5. Hell, I mainly played on Ps4 this gen and this make me less hyped for the Ps5 and more hyped about the future of PC
I'm with you on that. But the way you put it, i5 might actually be a way to pull in some of those that might possibly bite.
PC gamers who won't buy a PS5, won't buy it anyway.

And honestly, as long as Sony isn't stupid enough to follow MS and release all of their major exclusives on PC on day 1, this is a win for everyone. Or at least, when talking about multiplayer-focused games, is it'd increase the potential userbase/community.

It went like this:

- Late last year, rumours swirled Horizon is going PC. Various insiders claimed it
- Kind of true..... Horizon releases on PS Now (which includes PC access)
- Rumours keep going a real PC release is coming, but since it came out for PS Now, not totally sure if that's it
- Horizon announced for PC on Steam

Well, obviously Sony didn't think so when they decided to end it's exclusivity with the Playstation brand.

Odd how they didn't pick something like Uncharted, or The Last of Us 🤔
You know, DMX put it nicely once:

"Throw a dog a bone, leave a dog alone, let a dog roam and he'll find his way home."

Interested in the overall bussiness goal. I guess they helped port the engine already bc of death stranidng.
bc why not just make your own store? And make it cross-purchase. Tie it to PS NOW. Interesting stuff.

I'm pretty sure that since P psorcerer is old (like he said), the concept of higher than 30fps just cannot be computed by his brain. Which is fine guys, don't bully the boomer.

How many TF was the PS5 again?

Do we actually know for sure yet? Did Sony say something?

Did they confirm a PS5 Patch? I mean it's a pretty old game, are they going to patch it? Not sure.

Great decision.. let PC community feel greatness with this beautiful game indeed .. I think no matter what others feel about it at the end this is good for everyone..

One thing I must say :
Some acts like a baby just through your stupidity aside and be a man who has his own choice and believes.. if you going to change ur gaming style because of this !! Then go and buy a PC and cry over there for not having PS exclusive on time .. why other people whom playing games bother you that much ??? If you are going to run after this nonsense then you will not find joy even in every aspect of life not just gaming
