Horizon Zero Dawn |OT2| Red Head Redemption

I completed the game on Very Hard the first time and today I came back for the NG+. Started on Ultra Hard right away. I'm finding it to be pretty similar to Very Hard. The only big difference is definitely the lack of enemy health bar, so there is no way to tell if the enemy is dying until it drops dead. So far it's been pretty easy for me. Just finished the Grave-Hoard quest (yeah, I'm speed running).

Have you gotten any Adept weapons yet? Any of them better than the Lodge weapons? How much do they costs? Are they available in the early merchants or late ones?

They look the same as the normal purple weapons but have additional mod slots - same with the outfits. I found them on the merchant in Meridian, but that's the only place I looked.
They cost 1000-2000 a piece and require multiple machine hearts.

Edit: The new weapons are better than the Lodge stuff due to the extra mod slot.

Managed to get all of the new weapons except for the Rattler. With the weapon upgrades and the ghost levels, I hope that means that the DLC takes place after the final battle. I want to see busted up Meridian.

Used the war bow constantly in my playthrough on hard. Seems like this game does a good job encouraging different playstyles.

Almost never used them. War Bow overall got little use in my Hard Playthrough. Tripcaster with shockwire does the job.

that's weird, i use them a lot. the trips are good too, but i find that using double shock/freeze works wonders against anything weak to them

I actually think the elemental effects are almost too powerful. If you freeze certain enemies they go down in a few shots even if at near to full health.

Yup.
You can down Fire Bellowbacks very, very easily with Triple Freeze + exploding the Cargo Sac/Canisters.
With some practice you can do it reliably under 20 seconds, even on the harder difficulties.

Don't find the sling that useful.

Sling Shock Bombs + Blast Sling Sticky Bombs is one of the most ridiculously overpowered combos in the game. It makes short work of pretty much anything that's landbound.

well, you can probably finish the game alone with the Hunter Bow if you want. I also read rather late that freezed enemies get more damage. But the war bow always took a slot away.

My weapon wheel was hunterbow, tripcaster , sharpshooter bow and ropecaster most of the time. Don't find the sling that useful. War bow was okay against stalkers but i used the electro trip wires to fight them close combat.

So in the end it's a good sign when different people use different weapons in a game and succeed with it.

well, you can probably finish the game alone with the Hunter Bow if you want. I also read rather late that freezed enemies get more damage. But the war bow always took a slot away.

My weapon wheel was hunterbow, tripcaster , sharpshooter bow and ropecaster most of the time. Don't find the sling that useful. War bow was okay against stalkers but i used the electro trip wires to fight them close combat.

So in the end it's a good sign when different people use different weapons in a game and succeed with it.

The sling also gets stupid powerful with mods. If you equip damage and handling mods it can down Thunderjaws in no time. Just expose their central core then unload and its over in like 30 seconds.

I think. About how much time left if I wanted to listen to all recordings and read all the journal's while going? Girlfriend has really fallen for the game and wants to watch the end.

Definitely! i've used ropecaster only for the tutorial and barely since, is it required further into the gam?

Same thing as Very Hard mostly. You don't see enemy health bars anymore and they seem to attack more frequently. It's all about being smart and using the right tools for the situation. If you already played through on Very Hard then it's gonna be a walk in the park. The Shield-Weiver suit does not absorve much damage anymore. One melee hit from an enemy and it's down.

I was playing just now and the game crashed, it came up with an error code, I didn't take it down but just reported it, it suggested that I update to the latest version which I had already.

I managed to quit the game and then when I restarted it took me back to the previous save, I wonder if its anything to do with the recent update, I was just playing in the normal original mode.

Bleh. I was hoping they'd do something like "Lodge War Bow (Adept)" so they'd also get the extra mod slot. No skin off my back though. Didn't really feel like getting all Blazing Suns a third time anyway.

Well you should do hunting trials to get skill points but I forget if you need blazing suns for those.

Yeah, you need all blazing suns to get them.
They are very easy to get if you have the shield armor and drop the game down to easy. Cake walk.

My strat was always three freeze arrows, then switching to three Longshot arrows and nailing the weak points on their backs. Also - handy - they're pretty blind, so if they lose you they have a lot of trouble finding you again. You can draw their attention to wherever you want by firing an arrow there.

Think of them as Graboids from Tremors.

On the topic of the new patch, I've learned you can get the Adept Shadow sling as early as the second Hunter's ground on NG+, and you can buy the Adept War bow at the fort you visit as you leave

I don't know whether I'm going to play it again on Ultra Hard or not, considering I completed it on Very Hard/no hud on my first run. Awesome game, but going through NG+ just for a couple of fancy weapons?

Finished the game yesterday, Platinum today. First ever Platinum actually. Helps that this game is incredibly easy to Platinum.
Overall this was a fantastic game, especially considering it's Guerilla's first game of this type. Side characters, although they could have used some more screentime were great for the most part, with good voice acting. Story took longer than I expected, and was pretty good. I felt they nailed the delivery of story beats mission by mission, although I would have liked some more varied dungeons. Sadly, the story in the current day felt a bit lacking to me, and HADES was a pretty shit villain Helis
Faro and possibly Sylens
were much better. Finding out what happed in the past was way more interesting than anything in the current time, although this is to be expected considering the focus of the story. Looking forward to an eventual NG+ playthrough and the DLC, which I will probably tackle at the same time. Seeing how well this game played out, my expectations for the DLC and a potential sequel are sky high.

and such. Are they determined by whether your Aloy has given mostly Brainy, Caring or Brash responses? I never heard about this element carrying over in the game before, so I was pretty certain they were moment-by-moment.

However, it seems that Aloy, who largely started off boring and one-note in the start is giving more fleshed out and lashing comments without my input now. Is her writing simply improving (a.k.a. is this just a static script) or are her responses tailored by my Aloy up to this point.

*I've used the Aggressive/Fist options mostly as Aloy

Your choices have little impact, its just different shades of the same decisions. The only real choice you have is to collect allies.

Uggh. I finally got him frozen, but arrows weren't doing enough damage to put either of them down. I tried setting every trap I had aa well, but still not enough damage...

I think there are four main missions left.
You won't get any new side quests.


Gotcha. Are the trials worth trying to complete? Also, are the hunters guild missions worth it? I'm not going to bother doing all the stupid item collections since they are a pain in the butt..
