Yes, there are more whiteys doing it, but these people above are hardly a small exception, just a minority. Hey, amazingly, white people make up the majority of people in the US and Australia, where most of the planking stuff is coming from. 72% in the US, according to Wikipedia. Hmm, reasonably close to the distribution of photos from that site you linked to.

I think some of these posters are upset by how quickly cute little internet memes spread into general pop culture these days.

I work for the new student orientation office of my university, and we set up a facebook group for the new freshmen. Jokes that would have been obscure internet jokes 5 years ago are now common sayings. Now you have regular MTV watching 18 year olds saying "youmadbro?" and "trolling" non-stop. It's kinda weird, but it doesn't send me into a rage. Haha

I think the issue is that manufactured memes are less satisfying than ones that spawned organically. In this case, you can picture some people sitting around going "I know, we'll make a meme out of people being headless - it'll be the next planking!" Hell, planking itself seems like it was created on a wager over the power of memes to compel people to do pointless things in order to feel like they belong.

There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but it seems like there's something less funny or exciting about this brand of meme for some.
