How big will the gaming industry bubble be, If Google, Apple, Disney, Amazon join the industry?

These guys have massive infrastructure, and money, which can be beneficial to the gaming industry. MS changed Gaming landscape, when they joined the industry through xbox live.

At what height would gaming reach, if we get those big boys tools?

The fact that they haven't really entered in a big way probably means they don't see much to gain. Console market is on its last legs and is nothing compared to mobile when it comes to $$$$. I do hope to see Apple start to develop big time games for Apple Arcade now that they have these SoCs.

I can't believe people are chearleading this shit.

The industry is going the way of the birds.

If you thought GaaS and janky lowering in quality and quantity AAA games we got before were bad.....

wait until you see what's next.

I don't think GaaS are bad, I like them just fine. Google and Amazon and Apple have the best developer talent, and a lot of money to fund them with, why wouldn't I want them to make games?

Amazon, Google, Apple don't want to make games. Unless they have to bring you to Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, Apple Arcade.
Amazon has new world, plus other projects. We have no idea what Google has though.

The sleeping gaints is embracer. Their market value is $10b, and they have 86+ studios. Massive advantage for these 2, if either of them buys it.

They can, if they buy take2. They will own Rockstars.

Warnerbros is also on the table, and it gives you rocksteady, and other talented studios.

Money would give them those access right now.

Have you seen the games Amazon have (or rather haven't) released since they started their studio years ago? They were all shit.

They're still the only studio I know who canceled a released game, sent it back into beta, only to then scrap it completely after realizing it was fucked beyond repair.

Rockstar is an empty husk of what it once was without the Houser brothers and it's about to become a husk of that.

It was their first foray into developing a game. Who knows what happened there. These companies cycle through experimental projects all the time. Doesn't mean much. Amazon even has its own game engine, Lumberyard, that Star Citizen is building on.

As long as they have the tools, they can manage to salvage some stuff.

The industry needs new talents. Maybe Rockstar have some of them working in their studio's.

I really dont think they care about these things. They want to be the infrastructure. Google could have bought all these studios for Stadia, they decided not to.

Google was banking on 3rd parties. No one went with their project, after stadia disaster launch.

They are rethinking their approach. And with MS spending a whooping $68.7b on Activision, they are ready for their wallet now.

None of those players can get a crack into the market or they would have already

They will all flounder with half baked products like Stadia, and never truly have the corporate backing to make a dent

Xbox bled billions and billions to get a respectable third place, and they did that 20 years ago.

Its too late for the others. Facebook, Google, Amazon all missed the boat and Apple are happy in their mobile corner making more money than anyone else

Amazon: Amazon Games Studios, Amazon Games client / storefront, partnerships via Prime Gaming, Twitch is the dominant platform for advertising of games

Apple: Already a major marketplace for mobile games, is making an earnest push into the subscription market with Apple Arcade, becoming slightly more gaming friendly with the design of their latest Apple TV units

Disney: Owns and licenses out some of the most popular IP's out there for gaming, and owns whatever they acquired when they bought LucasArts studio and talent wise

Google: Has Stadia, was already a major marketplace for mobile games

I'm probably missing a lot but all of these companies already have vested interests in gaming.

Only way for any of these big companies to enter, is to buy EA and have FIFA and Madden exclusive to their console, at least to start. If they could convince those sports leagues to allow exclusivity. That would give them a massive foothold in North America and Europe and some parts of the globe. Sony and Microsoft had some experience at hardware and software before making the move. Amazon's software has been a disaster and Google's streaming service is 10 years to early and not priced well. The third pillar could be a Japanese based ally, to allow for the purchase of a Konami, Square, Sega or Capcom level type company, from within japan. The only way in, is to buy your way in with some bully ball.

still the same size, it would just be diluted more with different devices to play the games on.

apple are sort of there already as there tv box can be used to play games (not great ones) but you can connect a controller and get a console like experience
