I was thinking the same thing but then I happened to see titanfall and everything changed.
But the DRM made things incredible on the xbox one.
1. Games are available day one digitally and also at brick and mortar stores. You can wait in line but if you don't want to, fine, just download it at home. Either way, you can install the entire game to hdd and never worry about the disc again.
2. Sharing the disc. Now that it's installed on the HDD, you can either set that disc on fire, or let your friends borrow it. You can only loan a game once, but eh, because there are other ways to share.
3. Family sharing would let you have 10 people that could access your full library of games. That also means that if you had an xbox one, I could just go to your house, digitally transfer my account, and play the games there at your house. Not to mention, my brother 5 states away could play my games as well as 9 other people across the nation. And even better, I get to play their games as well. That sounds great to me.
All of that seems amazing to me. F physical media; it only means limitations. How about being able to spread out your media collection as wide as you want, just letting MS check every 24 hours just to make sure you're not abusing the system because you know people would if they could. Nothing was stopping people from buying or selling used games. Nothing was stopping people from letting friends borrow games. There seemed to be no limitations except people being scared of new things.

Dedicated server for all mp games. No lag ever again.
Lagless mp experience will be a bigger draw than better graphics.
Ditch the Kinect.
No kinect
Scrap kinect
Remove kinect and drop the price. It's that easy.
No Kinect would be a decent start
I don't understand how this sounds horrible though, because technically it never took anything away. If anything it added an extra layer of functionality for digital games; something that's not limited by physicality. The only thing that might be a problem for some would be the 24 hour check in.Consoles are not ready for this at least not now. And still sounds horrible..i am even glad they did a u-turn. But still they didn't listen to the core gamers and doing stuff that doesn't make sense.

Its evident a big chunk of GAF are not online gamers.Dedicated server for all mp games. No lag ever again.

Seriously? But the DRM made things incredible on the xbox one.
Games are already available day one digitally and the same trend will carry on into next generation, regardless of the DRM.1. Okay, this was pretty cool - but by originally having this mandatory, disc space would have been a concern, especially without the ability to replace the Xbox One's hard drive. The only being able to physically loan a copy of a game once was pretty ridiculous.2. Sharing the disc. Funny thing is there were restrictions on how to get people on that list, and there were rumours floating around that this feature was going to be time restricted. The fact that it got dropped almost immediately without a trace with the 180 sort of suggested Microsoft were either reluctant to incorporate the feature in the first place or it wasn't in any form ready - or at least not for launch, along with a lot of other things at the moment.3. Oh, please. You know this wasn't the only reason MS wanted you have to be connected to the internet every 24 hours. Not only that, but requiring an internet would have cut a huge chunk of the consumer base off - not everyone can hook their console up to the internet. All of that seems amazing to me. Yes there was...Nothing was stopping people from buying or selling used games.
Erm, yes there was...Nothing was stopping people from letting friends borrow games.
Scared of new things? Please. People didn't want to have DRM and used game restrictions of their console, that's why they complained - this is some crazy-ass revisionist history going on here. The backlash had next to nothing to do with people being 'scared of new things'. Do you really think anything that happened following E3 would have happened if all these features were there without any form of DRM?There seemed to be no limitations except people being scared of new things.
Again, there really wasn't horrible about the DRM policies. It's only been inflated to seem that way after the fact. You do know why pre orders didn't live up when they announced it right? The Hardcore gamers didn't want this and still don't even the kinect. And it shows everywhere when Sony did show what gamers wanted. Games but a side of that it was not smart in the long run 24 hour check ins,one time to give a game once every 30 days is just to dumb for example. Also the PR has been a disaster even after the 180's. Looking at digital foundry against Xbone i found it laughable how they twist and turn again.
This have been very amusing ride for me so far, how do you shatter a mather of trust in consumers with horrible drm's restricitions and what not. Well they did and like i said even after a 180 turn i still don't trust them it's like Sony in 2006 and well they learned a lot and look how far we are now.
To me when a company shows what needs to be shown and what i needed to hear then you can have my money. Vote with your wallet and think a little clearer how they approached every consumer, look if you want to buy it..go ahead give them your money but a matter of trust for me has been broken. Still but loads behind a paywall. Still 100 euro's more expensive and still a kinect camera i never liked for example.
Again, there really wasn't horrible about the DRM policies. It's only been inflated to seem that way after the fact.
Realistically, especially since the "horrible" DRM policies were removed, the price is the absolute and only real problem. People can say otherwise, that it's a multitude of things, but unless you're a GAF'er, wont care about the other stuff come release day. Removing the kinect isn't the answer, but they do need to drop the price somehow.

That makes sense. The PS4 is an awesome rig. But there's no reason to trust Sony more than MS. Just because you're not saying much doesn't mean you have nothing to hide.I will say it again..it's about trust. And i don't trust them anymore even when they did 180's. My money is on sony. And why did i do that? They showed what i wanted to see games, games and games, good hardware and a low price.

They always had it.
If Microsoft puts their reputation on the line and promises that they won't try to sneak the same anti-consumer policies on XB1 again, I might start considering it.
