[TheGameBusiness] "Bringing your games to other platforms is how you’re going to win" - Circana

My God, professionals of the market analysis that don't even remember how the industry works... not even seeing Xbox collapse before their very eyes.

The problem is Mat Piscatella. He is not only worse than Jason.

As soon as you remember the state of Xbox division, he will 'correct you' saying, "do you mean Microsoft?".

And Microsoft earning loads of money from others sources have nothing to do with the argument of Xbox division dying. Thats why that weasel run away to bluesky, because as soon as people start to ask questions, he will complain about microagression.

It is funny that Circana always think what MS does is always the way to win but it never happens. First gamepass, it would dominate the induatry, 8 years later we are probably watching the last chapters of this sub service.

Now third party games everywhere.

>xbox proves that it isnt
>nintendo proves that it isnt

what the hell are they on about
The difference is that Circana knows the games people buy their PS/Xbox consoles for, its all live service and multiplatform stuff. If people bought Switch to only play Fortnite then yes Nintendo would be just as willing to go multiplatform as Microsoft and Sony is for their single player games to earn a profit.

I wouldnt put PS/Xbox on the same level anymore since the introduction of Gamepass. Having similar hardware might have made it easy to multiplatform, MS just shouldnt have done it to the extent they did. They b0rked it even further with their acquisitions and none-output of the same.

And Nintendo proves that by not giving away their staples like Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, among other games, but including what IS on offer, multiplat-wise, is a winning formula.

Point being,
We're "way beyond" the point where people will swap game consoles for exclusive games, says Circana games boss Mat Piscatella.
is complete horsehockey since there are only two system offering worthwile exclusives and they serve very different markets, console (PS5) vs handheld-ish console (Nintendo).

I think he's spot on when he says people are entrenched in their ecosystem, and exclusive games are not a driving factor any longer.
Sony is leaving money on the table by ignoring other platforms.
I only play on playstation so why does it hurt me if other gamers get to play playstation games.
Timed exclusivity is probably the sweet spot I say, like they used to do during the ps1 days.

Remember the old days when NPD was straight up just giving us data without some idiot injecting his own opinion into it and only sharing selective data? We just want the data, matt. Don't try and frame it in a certain way. I hate that bullshit.

The Insomniac leaks showed how poorly their games sell on PC, so not really.
I'd argue two things
1, they need to release closer to the playstation launch, by the time it's come out on pc most people who are hyped and want to play it already have.
2, the most important point, they're bang average games.
You release stuff like Bloodborne, demons souls, gt7 etc these are the games that will do very well on pc
