How does GAF enjoy their steak?

I've tried it on multiple occasions and hate it. It's disgusting to me. I hate the way it tastes like blood, and I hate the soft mushy texture. I do not enjoy it at all.

Well done all the way. Medium well if I trust the restaurant to not undercook it.

It's a myth that well done has to be burnt to a dry charcoal husk. When properly prepared with a good piece of meat, it's actually quite juicy, delicious, and tender, though I do love a good seared outer layer.
It's also a myth that it's blood. But sorry to say, but a well done steak will inherently be less juicy and tender than a rare steak. You might prefer it less juicy and tender, but it's not a myth that overcooking meat alters its physical properties.

I like a good Oscar Mayer over a direct flame for 90 minutes. Anything less than that and you risk disease
No?
or tasting the meat.
Um... wat

Ohhhh you hate the meat, that's why you like to ruin it. That explains a lot about well-done eaters... ;)

Rare or Medium rare.

Some of the well done eaters here saying it's about being able to cook it properly are objectively wrong. Money saving tip: Don't waste money on Ribeye or NY Strip, just get a sirloin and they'll all taste the same well done.

If you're eating steak well done because you're worried about germs like e-coli, then don't bother. The only thing you need to cook well is ground beef. In fact, everybody should cook that stuff all the way through until it's brown. Steaks are a different story - you only need to cook the outside of them for them to be safe.

Medium-well. I've tried Rare and Med.Rare and I just can't stand the texture and how it looks. I'll admit that it's much juicier though.

I like medium rare but I really wish the food snobs would shut the hell up about well done. Like, we get the point. Quit being so narcissistic.

I didn't say it was blood. I said it tastes like blood, and it does to me. I don't know what the rest of your post has to do with anything I said -- I didn't make any of those claims regarding tenderness or other properties of rarer meat. All I was pointing out that making a steak well done actually necessitate turning it into practically a piece of beef jerky as several people here have tried to claim.

I really think that people should just stop trying to police how other people like to eat their food. You eat it medium rare or whatever, and I'll eat mine well done.

Medium rare/medium but tempted to switch to well done just so I don't get associated with some of the insufferable windbags on here drowning in their own pretentiousness.

Steak is eaten medium rare. The end.

Now I don't begrudge those cooking the shit out of their meat. I'm just sad that they're missing out. They probably put shit in malt whisky too.

Like I enjoy pussy.

Bloody.

I went out on a date with this chick once. Well, it was our 3rd or 4th date. We went to the supermarket because she wanted to cook for me. She got some veggies, couscous, meat, etc.

We got to her apartment and she cut the meat in cubes, and put it in a glass bowl along with avocado, onion, a bunch of lime and I forget what else. She let that sit while making the couscous. I was like, oh man, she's letting the meat marinate...

Nope.

She put that in the middle of the table and said ok let's eat. Up to that point I had never had anything other than well done steak, so I freaked out. I ate a little bit and thought it was good but the texture was weird. I couldn't eat more than little piece or two.

That's when I got curious about medium rare steak. I finally got the courage to try it and I liked it, but it's still a bit under-cooked for me. So since then I've had medium to medium well. I occasionally have it medium rare but that depends on the place I'm having it at.

Rare or medium rare. If it is any warmer or more cooked than that, I'll just drown it in Sriracha or gravy or whatever other liquid I can find to aid in choking it down my gullet.

I have a stupid question. Can you order blue steak at a restaurant? I tried to once and the waiter had no idea what I was talking about.

It all depends on the cut for me

If it's rump or ribeye I'll go medium rare due to the high fat marbling (this is where the flavour is)

Serlion or fillet rare

My brother is blue all the way. 30 seconds a side, the steak is still mooing

Cut: Ribeye

Cook: Medium-Rare

I make a marinade using the following ingredients

Soy Sauce
Teriyaki Sauce
Ginger
Pepper
A hint of garlic
Some Olive oil

I let the steak marinade overnight and then pull it out an hour before I cook it. I prefer to cook my steaks over an open flame as opposed to pan frying them.

So good

Nothing pisses me off more then seeing someone fuck up a piece of steak. I work in food service in the military and I cry inside when I see us cook steaks well done in an oven.

Any credible steakhouse should understand what you mean, but if they don't specialize in steaks, maybe not. I wouldn't order it blue at a place that doesn't know what it means, to be honest. Well, also, I prefer rare over blue, but my point is that they probably don't know what they're doing. ^^

Sometimes I like to cut up a hotdog and layer the slices on top of a steak before I roast it in an oven at 450 til crunchy. Then I drop some sweet relish on it and roll it up in a tortilla with mayonaisse.

I call it steakdogarito.

I wash it down with a finely crafted smokey 20 year old coca-cola.

Medium Well!

I used to be a Well Done guy and have creeped slowly down the ladder toward Medium Rare. I've tried Medium Rare and Medium a bunch of times now, and I just can't do it. The bloody taste, the awful texture of the meat, and the unappetizing red look of it all just drives me nuts. That's a waste of good meat to me, food snobs be damned. My boyfriend and all his food snob friends (self-proclaimed food snobs, mind you, so we all laughably use that term to describe them) can't believe I prefer the taste of anything more than Medium Rare, but that's that. No one can tell me what tastes better to me than I can.

But yeah. Fuck well done, personally. Too dry.
