How good is Apples 27" LED monitor

The Apple screen has a 12ms response time, and if you dislike it, a glossy screen. That puts the Dell u2711 above it in my mind.

EDIT: ^Also yeah, the Dell has great connections.

It's pretty f'in great. Amazing picture, fantastic colour and super crisp and consistent. Sure there is some glare as it's reflective. Build quality is nothing short of stunning, the aluminum and glass construction is just gorgeous. And best of all, it's got plugs for charging your laptop as well as a three port USB hub linked to your computer.

If price is not an issue, I'd definitely recommend. Wish they made it bigger, though.

Yeah. I have a 30". Of the old version and love it to death.

From what some of my professors told me, Apple makes excellent displays that are especially useful for proper color correction / levels, etc.

This leads me to believe you only need this extra edge if your doing video/design work, if your just watching stuff and playing games, I don't see much point in shelling out for the Apple screen. (I could be wrong though)

Tell your professor to read up on apple's newest led display then, not full RGB = terrible for any photo/video work.

Most apple displays are and have been crap for their price. Bad for gaming, film, photoshop etc. There is no reason to buy one, unless you only care about how it looks I guess.

Gaming hasn't looked so good on mine.

So the refurb 27" on Apple.com is $850.

I'm considering getting a decent 24" monitor for like $300, but at the same time, I'm thinking maybe I should just save up and get a really nice 27".

you guys think I could get a good 10-years use out of either the Apple or Dell 27"?

10 years? Depends on how often you plan on using the monitor.. Led might last longer than the typical bulb in the Dell monitor, but I'm sure something will come along within the 10yrs to wet your lips...
