As if Sony never reaised the prices of their consoles 5 years later, raised their subscription twice so far since the release of PS5, Switch 2 raising their prices of accessories 10 days before console release etc. This whole generation is GREED.
What I just wrote. What the fuck did I just read
Nailed it. Grounded and sea of thieves were good games, imo.The problem is they quit competing with high quality games. It's like that leaked email about the meeting where they said they cant' compete with TLOU.
They're not doing what needs to happen to compete with high end games, so they're trying to do mediocre games to keep a subscription base sated.
Phil has to go cause he convinced himself making AAA bangers "won't move the needle" cause they lost the "worst generation to lose".
That's loser mentality. Nintendo never let you keep your digital library and they were always fine, cause they would just keep making system seller games.
All they need is consistent system seller games, and even their leader is telling them to not even bother trying.
Probably one of the best recent examples summarizing in as concise a way as possible how Xbox lost its way, starting with the late 360 era and beyond.
Because why not have one more Xbox thread on here?
My friend, even you have to admit that $799 for a Series X is some unmatched greed especially when a PS5 Pro is less expensive than it. A moment where MS should have got more aggressive in pricing to compete they chose to be more expensive than the competition. Not even AMD is that greedy/stupid. Same with $80 games or $30 per month for gamepass. If you watch the vid thats the price of 5 AAA games at full price in a year. Who would rent a MS picked list of games instead of buying and owning 5 full price $70 games they pick themselves every year? or even more if they buy games on sale.
Valve is american. I think you meant publicly traded companies.Because...America.,... an American company with shareholders = ......![]()
Both of those companies are also greedy. Imagine shilling for a brand and thinking they aren't all greedy. Something about young girl anime pfps...SonyToo! NintendoToo!

I agree. Those needed to be side bitch games. Like Returnal or ratchet. Inbetween actual system seller bangers. Not the main show.
So because their price hike overall is a larger sum, we just gonna ignore Sony did the same exact thing? I have both PS5 and XsX, last I remember is I bout my xbox for normal price, havent followed up what they are now new. But my point is, its not just Microsoft, they all are tripple dipping this generation, Nintendo getting into the $90 territory lol. SONY's subscription got so out of hand I just opted out after years of paying since PS3. MS gamepass made sense for $14, now it doesnt make sense. They are ALL guilty of this, lets not single out MS as some bad guy when the other two are equally bad.My friend, even you have to admit that $799 for a Series X is some unmatched greed especially when a PS5 Pro is less expensive than it. Microsoft knows that they aren't selling many Series X consoles at $800. But they also weren't selling many at $500, so the bean counters probably decided to stop subsidizing it. I agree that they could have been aggressive at pricing if they wanted to sell more consoles, but it's clear that they would rather sell games on PS5 for a profit than sell consoles at a loss. So I don't think their console pricing is greed. It's more likely a condition of higher component prices because they aren't able to get volume discounts and the fact that they are multi-platform now.My friend, even you have to admit that $799 for a Series X is some unmatched greed especially when a PS5 Pro is less expensive than it. A PlaySation.
Id say a mixture of both.![]()
It wasnt greed that destroyed xbox, its incopetence.
Most of humans are greedy, our greed is what is pushing us to be better/more succesful/productable etc, its our motivation, u think all those top class surgeons/actors/politicans/ceos struggle for long years and often decades just for the hell of it- they do it coz they are greedy for money/success/status/bitches etc.Id say a mixture of both.
100%. I couldn't believe their mentality on TLOU. They had made Gears and Halo so it's not like the concept of a killer app was foreign to them at all. All they had to do was find/create the next IP that was on that level but they just folded.
Imagine how different things could've been if they had just invested 0.5B in 2-3 system sellers early on (2014-15). If they had games to counter UC4, Horizon, and GOW maybe Sony doesn't gain such a massive hardware advantage and so MS doesn't buy Activision nor Bethesda. MS maybe could've saved themselves 75B had they spent more money early enough.
The success of the Xbox 360 was never about its own merits but rather the disastrous reveal and launch of the PS3 which Xbox greatly capitalized on--until the RROD came home to roost anyway, allowing Sony the breathing room it needed to recover. No, it's not greed. It's stupidity, incompetence, arrogance from those who controlled and control Xbox...
They were never competent, they just had luck.
The Xbox 360 was luck, plain and simple.
Microsoft's luck ran out and Xbox never succeeded again. Windows Phone, Bing, aQuantive, Zune; these, for example, never had luck.
So when Sony make a good console that is powerful, affordable, and easy to develop for such as the PS1, it's because Sony are awesome and have a ton of merit. The Xbox 360 was luck, plain and simple.
If you remember all the problems related to three red lights, the fact that we had version a x360 version with non harddrive, all the kinect push and the commercial result of every other xbox interation (and in fact, every other customer device by Microsoft if we apply a loose comparison), unfortunately, luck is not a bad word to describe x360 initial success. So when Sony make a good console that is powerful, affordable, and easy to develop for such as the PS1, it's because Sony are awesome and have a ton of merit.
But when Microsoft release a console that is powerful, affordable, easy to develop for with a 1 year head-start on top of it (which is remarkable), it's is only luck.
He says while earning trophies, talking in party chat, with his friends, and holding a round and wide controller. The 360 "core" was a budget model. Similar to Sony's B01 model. With no wifi and a 20gb HDD. The PS3 also had the YLOD. The RROD was not exclusive to Xbox. And effected all eletronics of that era. Only MS Zealots compare YLOD and RROD. The first one affected only a minimal fraction of PS3 if you compare with RROD (i remember i read that 20% of xboxes 360 were affected by RROS on the worst case scenario vs 0.5% or 1% of PS3s... [i'm not defending YLOD, but the comparison is wrong]). And dividing your audience with a version that cannot play games that requie HD is... I'm sorry to say, stupid. You just confirmed me that LUCK was the word to synthesize xbox 360 (and even that was thrown by MS after kinect...)He says while earning trophies, talking in party chat, with his friends, and holding a round and wide controller. The launch product, its qualities, its games etc... were not the fruit of luck. RROD was definitely a mistake. Kinect is a shift that occurred later. At that point, the 360 success was already achieved and it was not due to luck, but due to a great vision, product and partnerships starting from the launch.
Let's agree to disagree... because MS wasn't able to reproduce NONE of those qualities after xbox 360 (and even before that). Hence... luckThe launch product, its qualities, its games etc... were not the fruit of luck. RROD was definitely a mistake. Kinect is a shift that occurred later. OrAlternative headline: How gamers conditioned to believe in the console wars misunderstood the purpose of Xbox.
Unless you live under a rock, PS5 raised their prices TWICE on subscription and in August on the console itself :I disagree.
These things you are saying don't affect me at all.
Xbox raising the price of the top tier to 30 bucks, locking day 1 games behind that, lying about having console exclusives for XSX before I bought one at launch, Xbox not being able to sell the console or having issues with keeping stock making me feel like a sucker for buying myself and my brother an XSX....these are the things that have affected me.
Nintendo raised the price? News to me. Sony raised the price? News to me. I bought them both day 1 and paid msrp. Xbox bait and switched me on XSX so who is the greedy one now?
I don't think any of them are greedy btw. I think Xbox is just inept and the other two aren't as inept. That could change but Xbox burned me this gen and many others so they are on the outs for at least 1 gen.

Microsoft Themselves Don't Even Understand the Purpose of Xbox(so we can forgive the gamers they conditioned).

Ill ignore you because you just proved you are exctremely dumb, sorry... "a great vision, product and partnerships starting from the launch." (your words, btw) is exactly what Sony did at least 2 or 3 times (PS1, PS2 and [loosely speaking] PS4)!This is some of the dumbest logic I have ever seen.
Because the situation was not reproduced later by some other leadership doesn't mean that it was luck for the OG and 360...

Microsoft understands business on a level incomprehensible to gamers.
100% agree, but I think Phil probably knows deep down they can't do it.. Might be loser mentality, but maybe they really are just not capable like PS. I think the problem with Xbox is the management of the business.. They are just not good, I think there is some deep rooted problems at senior level. The problem is they quit competing with high quality games.
