How long does it take to feel a shot of Vodka?

Ive never been a big drinker.

So if I have a shot of Absolut Vodka how long would it take to feel the effects?

Im 72kg so 158 pounds

Are you asking because you've never had a shot?

Depends on the person but probably right away if you take it and then start shaking your head.

Why would you drink a shot of vodka unless you are at a binge drinking party? In which case you should probably have some idea of the answer to your question?

Just drink it and find out. Maybe have another too, I don't think a single shot will really do much even if you're not a big drinker.

If it's not on an empty stomach, i'm not sure you'd really "feel" a single shot of Vodka.

Like, if i were in a situation where i'd do shots, i think it'd be hard to tell how much of what i was feeling was just "social drunkness" from having a good time in a party environment, and how much of it was the minor effect that one shot might be having.

I do believe it takes several minutes until the alcohol has been absorbed by your stomach and made it to your bloodstream.

Like, when you drink 5 shots in a row, you aren't super drunk after 20 seconds, they'll start kicking in like at least 10 minutes later.

If you wanna experiment on how long it takes to "feel" them, maybe drink at least 2 back to back and find out.

What if you had 3 shots then 10 minutes later had a full dinner?
Would the alcohol get a head start from the previous empty stomach?

You can do a shot with co-workers without going on a binge. Get out of your house and talk to physical people every once in a while. Jesus.

You'll be fine OP. A shot is pretty much equivalent to drinking a pint. If you're feeling dizzy, chill out for a bit and drink some water or take a cab or uber/lyft. It was a single shot.

Oh god. Here's a good rule of thumb. If you're driving, you can have a single drink. A beer, a shot, or a drink with a single shot in it. After that, don't drive. Your post came across as you trying to reason to yourself why you should be able to drive. Don't. Just don't.

Edit: I don't give a shit how big you are or how you can do 4 shots and be fine. One drink. After that, take a cab/uber/lyft. End of discussion on my end.

initially, alcohol gets absorbed through the stomach lining - and later through the walls of your small intestine.
If there's no mush of (at best, fatty!) food inside your stomach, it'll be absorbed way faster.

my ass took 7-14 shots of vodka

3 full glasses of wine

a bit of coke

2 full cups of beer and I'm holding myself together

If your not a big drinker then you will feel it within a few minutes.

This is what I'm thinking as well

You should go for another one, right about now. Maybe a third, max.

Have some water or so before before bed.

If you're drinking on an empty stomach... maybe five minutes.

If you've eaten food within the last two hours... five to fifteen.

If the latter you've probably already had something else to drink already as your brain has already told you it wasn't going to kick in so you knock it down a minute or so and keep going.

Food's your worst enemy if you're drinking to get drunk. Best go in having maybe had lunch and start with a beer with a shot as a follow up then go from there.

If by the end of the night you're not hammered hope the bar has an off-sale or that there's one within walking or cab distance.

If you really wanna cheat you can ask to sample the bar's whiskey or vodka or house beer for a quick shot.

Look around and if you see somebody you normally wouldnt find attractive and are suddenly attracted to them, its a good sign its kicking in.

That's bush-league. That doesn't happen till you;ve had a good hour of knocking anything back and til the DJ starts playing the shitty closing time songs.

Also OP if you're approached by an attractive woman offering you a bump of coke or a few hoots off a joint don't be afraid to let loose. You can meet a lot of new people.

I dunno. It depends on how long its been since relations divided by the number of shots multiplied by how late it is minus original standards. Its not an exact science.

Yes and no. I've damned near set my watch to it sometimes. Guess it just depends on the crowd.

It'll sneak up on you. You'll insist you're fine, then when you stand up and go to the bathroom - whoa why is the room spinning?

I mean, yeah, depending on your body chemistry and intake. But the room typically doesn't start spinning till your stomach is more alcohol than food/water.

if you're on an empty stomach you will feel it within 2 - 3 minutes. If you've eaten a full meal in the last hour or two it will take 10 - 15 minutes

A single shot..?

OP, it's going to take a few more than that. Like, I'm not advocating binge drinking or anything but 1 shot even on an empty stomach is just going to make you suffer the mild pain of taking a shot of shitty alcohol, nothing more.

Not entirely true.

On an empty stomach a shot will kick in within ten minutes or so. You'll start to feel a sudden levity to things. Just slightly. And when that kicks in you'll suddenly feel a desire to have another drink of anything.

A single shot?

...Never? I mean, alcohol's effects are cumulative. I highly doubt you'd feel much, if anything, from one shot. Add a couple more, in quick succession, and you'll start to feel a buzz. Although sometimes the buzz people feel after one drink is purely mental.
