How long should you wait to eat before/after you work out?

Does it even matter? I know that it matters beforehand since you obviously don't want to cramp up or move your food around so much that you'll feel sick. How about afterwards though? I just had a solid 25 minute workout and dinner's ready but I'm wondering if I should eat it now or wait a little. Help?
 
I believe research has shown something like 20-30 mins for carbs and up to 90 for protein to be most effective.

As usual, there are conflicting reports. What yoshi said is a good rule of thumb.
