How many games are you planning to buy on release?

I wanted to make a personal breakdown of all the crap I need to buy for the rest of the year. This is sort of a financial, to know how much dollars worth of angel dust I need to sell on the streets of Montreal.
This, of course, wouldn't be a problem if companies didn't stuff all their big releases at the end of the year.
Anyway, in order of release, any important title and why and why not I'm going to buy it and how much $$$ it's gonna eat up.

Here's what I'm buying on release for sure:
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door October 11, 2004 49.99$ US, 69.99$ CDN
I really enjoyed the first one, one of my favorite RPGs ever, I have no doubt this will live out to expectations.

Katamari Damacy September 21, 2004 19.99$ US, 29.99$ CDN
Dad needs all this crap because he uses it to make stars to replace the ones he drunkenly broke. The beginning of each mission starts with dad commanding you to accumulate a certain amount of goods, like 10cm worth of trash or whatever. -IGN
That's all I gotta say.

Metal Gear Solid 3 November 1, 2004 49.99$ US, 69.99$ CDN
I'm getting it. Those clips sold me ten times over. The camouflage, the setting, the disarm moves, the story, everything, it must be mine.
To think that the first game I finished in the series was MGS2.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes November 15, 2004 49.99$ US, 69.99$ CDN
Looking solid, I want more metroid lovin' this holiday season, but I'm gonna check the reviews before buying.

Halo 2 November 9, 2004 49.99 US, 69.99 CDN
I dont know actually. I haven't played the first yet, and I really want to, but I'm trying to find it for cheap. I want something to play on my Xbox this holiday season, but I'm just no interested in Fable at all. Maybe I'll get Burnout 3. But what sold me on this was mainly that ilovebees.com thing.

The rest, I want to get eventually, but not at full price.

Pikmin 2 release date: August 30th, 2004 Cost: 49.99$ US, 69.99$ CDN
haven't finished the first one yet.

Baten Kaitos November 16, 2004 49.99$ US, 69.99$ CDN
Japanase RPG fix. It's looking very good, art-wise. I wanna get a bit more impressions.

Donkey Konga release date: September 27, 2004 Cost: 49.99$ US, 69.99$ CDN
looks good, but I'll get it later.

Burnout 3
I liked the 2nd one, but I didn't play it for long before I got tired of it. I'll probably rent this first, then see.

The DS November? 120$-180$ US?
My SP died on me 3 months ago and it's been hell without it. But I decided to wait for this. Whether I get this one release or not depends on the release games (WarioWare + Animal Crossing + a good action game and I'm sold).

Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic 2 December 6, 2004 49.99$ US, 69.99$

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap December 31, 2004 29.99$ US, 49l99$ CDN

is that about it? am I missing something? I'm open to suggestions.

PS: I'm getting Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for Xbox in January, not for PS2 this year. I dont like realistic racing games and I dont like Guilty Gear.

Thanks for sharing :p

No, but really, I too am amazed at the amount of decent titles that are going to be chewing up my time and hard earned cash in the next few months.

I'm going to picking up Pikmin 2, Paper Mario, Baten Kaitos, and Halo 2 at launch without a doubt.
HalfLife 2 I have pre-loaded and will purchase when available, and Burnout 3 is a maybe depending on my uni workload.

edit : and the DS, how can I forget the DS, I'm picking one up for myself and my G/F at launch as well.

None. I don't have time to game while at university, so I have to fit in my hobby during the holidays.

As such, I'm going to be having a hell of an expensive games binge sometime mid december.

Something along the lines of:

Paper Mario
Pikmin 2
Metroid Prime 2
Mario Tennis
Jungle Beat (IF it makes Japan this year)

Plus a DS and whatever is the must-have game on it by then.

My poor wallet :/

Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are the only games I will definately buy as soon as they come out, I'm running a bit short on cash. :(

Oh, and Mario Tennis, whenever that comes out here (Australia), that definately gets first priority.

Arg. Too many fricking games.
Next things I know I'll buy are:
Gradius V and Sly 2.
I gotta keep some chips in the warchest for later this year, and I'll wait and see what I feel like playing.

Actually, according to GameFAQs, Paper Mario 2 is out on the 11th October, so you don't have to wait that long for the GOTY.

There's just too much good stuff coming out over the rest of the year - must be really painful for the rose-tinted glasses crew who refuse to believe there are any good games being made now. :)

I'll be picking up the whole flood of frighteningly good RPGs coming out over the rest of the year (importing the GC/PS2 ones, picking up the XBox ones as they hit Europe), Katamari Damacy and a handful of other titles.

Metroid Prim Echoes
Megaman X Command Mission
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
Baiten Kaitos
Resident Evil 4
Viewtiful Joe 2
Prince of Persia 2

There's a ton more, its just I only have so much money. I wouldn't mind paying full price for some of the other stuf I want, but its all shoved into November and December, so some companies are going to have to deal with plenty of people like me who are going to buy their games later, but at a reduced price.

gofreak

GAF's Bob Woodward
Paper Mario 2
Half Life 2
The Sims 2

They're my only definite "buy on release" games. Other possibilities, but not definites, include:

Burnout 3
Rome: Total War
LOTR: The Battle for Middle Earth
Halo 2

I'll add if I think of any more.

Not when I institute my new law that you aren't allowed to buy a game you can't spell the name of.

It will carry the death penalty.

Just a few I plan to buy upon release.

Star Wars Battlefront[This game is going to own online]
OutRun 2[thank you SEGA]
Halo2[Friends for cooperatibve play, beer, and online Halo, beautiful cosmetics baby]

Their single player will shine through here, and their Xbox Live components are going to keep me busy throughout the holidays. Good stuff indeed.

Stuff like Fable,Metroid Prime2,Terminator3 Redemption,Neo Contra,Kingdom Under Fire...I'll rent,see which I like the most,make a purchase from one of those eventually.
