How many Japanese-made games from this gen can you name that don't include fanservice

EDIT: IF YOUR SUGGESTION IS MADE BY NINTENDO YOUR POINT IS VALID BUT YOU LOSE A TON OF BONUS POINTS OKAY

One of the biggest reasons I'm not into Japanese games as much anymore is because they keep trying to make me jerk off to them and I don't want to and I get kind of weirded out that they are so into the idea of making their audience masturbate.

Even the ones I like are all of a sudden HEY GUESS WHAT

So here's a thread to try to find the games that aren't slaves to Akihabara Market Realities.

I'll start with the only two games I can think of:

Tokyo Jungle

No people in it at all. I mean, I haven't finished it so maybe if you play long enough you can unlock an anime girl with inflated, swaying boobs that shoots hearts out of her ass while she does a robotic jpop dance but I doubt it!

Katamari Whatever

All the people are weird blocks. I guess you could say the King of All Cosmos is gay fanservice but that's sort of outside the purview of this thread.

Oh and I know western games aren't perfect or anything, but this thread is mostly about the extent to which this quirk of the industry has affected Japanese products so please don't post like "Yeah but Deep Silver tried to sell people ladies' chopped up torsos so stop picking on Japan!" because I know I know.

So is this thread operating under the seriously bizarre assumption that anything somewhat sexual in nature is "fanservice"? I don't think that thing in Dark Souls is fanservice, it's quite disturbing, for example.

Are you afraid of sexuality?

Admittedly the story behind that sounds more like developer service, given the art guy was apparently VERY ENTHUSIASTIC about having designed her and really wanted that to be how she looked in game, and Miyazaki couldn't bear to turn him down.

The Layton games have generally been good there far as I can see.

Yes I am very scared all of the time.

You know what I mean, please don't be difficult.

And how many non-indie western games didn't include fanservice?

Thanks for reading.

Couldn't agree with this post more.

I'm still a little confused by the term "fanservice." I thought that meant to include inside jokes, story beats, etc that hardcore fans of the series or company would find interesting or funny.

You no longer play as many Japanese games because of fan-service. Yet you admit that Western games have plenty of it, too.

So I guess this means you don't play many Western games now, right?

In this context it's meant to be anything sexual that serves no purpose other than to look nice

Rhythm Heaven Fever.

Unless you're into that sort of thing.

MALE POWER FANTASY!
Doesn't count!

In general, fan service refers to scenes designed to excite or titillate the viewer. This can include scantily-clad outfits, cleavage shots, panty shots, nude scenes (shower scenes especially), etc. Some broader definitions also include things like cool mecha, big explosions, battle scenes, etc. Basically, if it has little plot-redeaming value, but makes the viewer sit up and take notice, it's probably fan service in one form or another.

Nearly every game has fan service of some kind.

Its getting a bit out of hand now.. All the "fan service" and sex stuff. Not all sexuality in games is fanservice. Sexuality is fine, and isn't nothing to be scared of. If you're always masturbating then that's a personal issue.

That would be the normal use of it. But it gained a sexual association as indicated by the op. I blame Evangelion.

If that scene in Dark Souls is an invitation to masturbation does that make a movie like Sin City a porno?

Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon

I was about to say Bayonetta... but lol.

LO: Veiny chest queen.

Fanservice, as in... games without attractive people? Because I play tons of Japanese games and no, I don't see any trend of they "trying to make me jerk off to them". Honestly that's pretty ridiculous.

i don't get the sudden outrage over sexualized videogame content. are people that insecure about their hobby seeming perverted?

i'd prefer videogames to keep a grimy, grindhouse quality to them, rather than have them end up as all PG-13 blockbuster-type schlock.

Just masturbate before you play...

That Dark Souls picture is of a goddess. Its not really unusual, if you know anything about mythology. Not fanservice. You killed your point and now people are just gonna harp on it.

Does Wii Sports count? The game has alot of ass shots.

Given that "ass" looks like a melon I think if it was fanservice it'd go down as the most absurd misunderstanding of it ever.

Dude the guy just wanted to draw a lady with big breasts. Badly.

Pushmo / Crashmo
Crimson Shroud
Denpa Men
Aero Porter

From the posts in this thread, I now conclude the answer is many games, and anyway, why do you give it so much importance? Can you not hold the urge to masturbate?

The subject field is only so big. I mean arbitrary sexual content that is clearly pandering and serves no greater intellectual or contextual purpose within reason. And by within reason I mean that if the greater context reads like justification it doesn't get a pass.
