How much do you pay for your shoes, and why do I get ridiculed for wearing white New Balance sneakers when they're reasonably priced, don't suffer excess wear and tear, shouldn't attract any undue attention, and not even the cheapest looking things out there?
Pretty much this, although adjust work boots to $300-400$150-200 on regular sneakers and work boots, $800-1000 on dress shoes.
The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.
Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.
But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.
This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness.
Yup.I got a great pair of Italian leather dress shoes for $50 on Amazon, they worked out great for my last front desk job, but when I moved to a new hotel with a restaurant I realized very quickly that they were not 'non-slip' when I was sliding around the kitchen like an idiot.
Now I just get a $25 pair of nice non-slip dress shoes from Walmart every 6 months or so. They work for me.

LeBron?I'm 6'9". My feet are size 15's. Here's how I buy shoes...
Heard Red Wings aren’t being made in America anymore and thus the quality has gone down? People used to speak highly of those boots due to their durability and workmanship, but not anymore it seems.Depends. I have some redwing boots I bought forever ago for like $250. Worth every penny.
Regular shoes? I dunno, $50-100 maybe? I buy when on sale whenever I can.
Why don't you learn to make your own boots like the other ogres?I'm 6'9". My feet are size 15's. Here's how I buy shoes...
"Hello can you bring out any size 15 shoes you have?"
*employee brings out one or two boxes*
I then pick one of the two or I leave and try somewhere else. It's hard to be a shoe snob even if I wanted to.
I only wear docs for normal wear and adidas runners for sports purposes. The simpler the better now.
200$ top

Someone that understands quality and price. This depends on the type of shoe and what I'm doing.
For work (when I wasn't working from home) I'd put on my coffee brown Hanover shoes from Loake (£360)
If I'm just walking around in casual clothing, then it's either my Chelsea boots from Russel and Bromley (£195), Ralph Lauren boat shoes (think I paid £120 for them?), Converse classics in red (a fucking steal at £30!) or my Nike Air Max 90 (£100 in the sales).
For the gym, it's a pair of blue Nike trainers I picked up for £25 in a Nike outlet centre, or my white New Balance trainers which I'm pretty sure I paid £50 for?
I also have a pair of grey Tommy Hilfiger boots, but they were a gift and have no idea how much they cost.
100-200€ for highly utilitarian shoes that I use everyday, hobbies or work.
Burn usually through couple of pairs per 6months.
I use them daily...and when ever I walk/trek in all kinds of terrain, when the tread is gone the shoe is basically useless to me.You burn through a couple of pairs of shoes, which cost a three figure sum, every six months?
What are you doing to them?
I use them daily...and when ever I walk/trek in all kinds of terrain, when the tread is gone the shoe is basically useless to me.
I should go for more rugged trek shoes but those are not so comfy in everyday use.
