A lot of the brands I used to like have gone to shit (looking at you Clarks).
For casual stuff, I'm not fussy as long as it fits, is comfy and doesn't look bad (although I can skip the last one if they are really nice otherwise). I'm not prepared to pay that much though, unless they really will last many years (resoling allowed).
For dress shoes, I like a rounded toe. Other than that, as long as they are good quality, I don't care.
It's only really 'specialist' shoes that I get a bit snobby about, especially walking/hiking boots. But then again, I have been let down by companies I used to trust. I think the only 'specialist' shoe company that has never let me down is Walsh, and that's because they have never changed their main products design from its inception.
