Security is my foremost concern when looking for a smartphone. So I bought a new android one smartphone in late 2018 and will probably replace it, once it wont be supplied with the lates security fixes anymore (which is in end of 2020).

i get a new phone whenever 1) the old phone breaks or 2) the old phone is so outdated that i have to.

if it was up to me i would still be using my first flip phone ever. it's not really a thing i look forward to putting money into, i would much rather update my desktop or something instead.

You know what's kinda weird is I know people who get the newest phone every 1-2 years and then they scoff at the idea of spending $1000 on a really nice TV or $1500 on a PC and those things last so much longer. These are people who have no use for their phones outside of facebook and snapchat and all those dumb things but will gladly spend thousands of dollars on invisible upgrades they can't even quantify.

Every other iPhone generation, and getting back 60% of my money in resale.

Same. Pretty much dumped android because they have no resale value.
