how often do you rent $20 movies?

Never

I don't even know what you're talking about

I do buy 4k uhd though
new releases or movies still in theaters are like $20 on streaming services like Amazon. they even eventually drop to the $5 or whatever

Like Nope right now is $20 if you tried to rent it online

$20 bucks to rent, never. If it's a movie I can't wait to see, my local theater has $4 tickets for afternoon shows. Otherwise I'll either buy the blu-ray on discount or wait for streaming.

I’d rather wait till I can buy it for that, enough people in home that work different hours to watch a movie in 2 days .

No. It seemed like a good idea 10 years ago but now I’m conditioned to expect them to be on a streaming service either from the start or soon enough to wait.

Ehhh... no thanks

I'm in no hurry to watch anything

There's too much already out there I have yet to watch/play/read/etc

Clerks 3 is the first movie I've actually been excited for in years

The most I ever paid for a streaming rental was $14.99 for Pig (2021) the night of release. Otherwise I suppose I've spent between $2.99 - $5.99 per movie.

Never. I still enjoy going to the cinema. I plan a day trip to Malaysia if I want to see a film and I do not want to pay full admission.

Rent for $20 bucks? I thought paying for $19 was too much to buy Digital..
(happend with the Top Gun - I was going to take myself and child to watch at the theater, but my local theater closed down for good & it was already out to buy on Amazon, so ended up buying it)

Normally, I pay for $2.99-$5.99 on Amazon, if they are not on any of my subscribed service.

Never. And definitely wouldnt at $20 even if I was itching to see something not in theatres.

I havent rented a movie since the DVD days in the 2000s. Movies are so cheap to buy, if I really want to watch it I'll just buy it at some point. And movie sub plans cover everything else.

Weren’t new films $17.99 or $19.99 on DVD at some point? I’m thinking back to those end cabinets at Walmart. I don’t shop at Walmart anymore. I rent on various platforms from time to time. I do miss the movies on PSN. I think the last film I paid full price for was Suicide Squad on PSN. Years before they canned the service. I did buy The Force Awakens on PSN for that price. I can’t say I’d rent anything for that price.

Please invest in a device like a zidoo and figure out how to torrent or just download seren/kodi with a real debrid service on any android/google tv. Why anybody wastes money on movies/tv shows they aren't watching in theaters or keeping to own with a disc kinda blows my mind.

Handful of times now. Theater hasn't been practical for the wife and I for years with two young kids.

Kind of cool renting at home. Have a decent sound system and a nice tv.

Has backfired though with wife falling asleep and just not being able to finish the rental in the 48 hour rent window. really sucks some times. Wife's terrible for this lately.

Do wish it wasn't on a 48 hour timed thing and just let me watch it once at my convenience.

I've only ever rented 2 films for that price during COVID. If I'm going to spend that much money on renting a movie I'd rather see it on a big screen with Dolby Atmos sound. Home can never compare.

Never have.. Doubt I ever will. Those are movie Theater prices, and I don't have a movie theater experience at home.

Never. Theatre often and usually IMAX. If for some reason I have a sub going or access to one, then that. Otherwise torrent. I do like a getting a cheap blu ray of a modern classic from time to time.

Never rented.

I have rented out movies to somebody else as a job though. Worked in VHS, CD and DVD rental as a kid. We owned the whole thing so I was sad when everything turned streaming.

I'm a physical collector so the thought of renting digitally doesn't enter my mind for even $1 but $20 for a digital rental just sounds like crazy talk to me even if I wasn't a physical collector. I can relate to hating going to movie theaters but I'm fine not needing to see it right away and waiting for the Blu-ray/UHD. Even if you don't like physical the best option is to wait for the physical release since there are physical collector's that will sell the included digital codes for a few dollars.

Never. Will buy digital at that price point though if I'm pretty sure I'm going to like the movie, example TG Maverick I bought. But won't pay more than 5.99 on Prime to rent a new movie.

Why would you rent a movie for $20? Its easier to just buy them... for the same price on Amazon anyway...

What movie costs $20 to rent? Something that's currently in theaters?

New movies / early access, the stuff you can’t buy. look up Nope for example. $20 on YouTube, Amazon, etc with no purchase option

Won’t happen in France, there is a law forbidding putting things immediately on streaming after the run in theatres.

I'm conditioned too to wait it out. But for heavy hitters I want, I'll buy it (COD, Diablo, GTA).

For the big budget media there's always shit loads of people buying the game or movie ticket.

For my purchasing habits, the companies making the giant budget games are fine with my habits. And the indies making dirt cheap $5 games I buy too if they arent already on sub plan.

It's that mid range priced game, $25 indie game, or B tier budget movie or flick that doesnt need giant screens and sound that dont get my dollar anymore. If I dont really want it asap, that mid tier level of media I wait for sub plans.

I never rent movies, I just buy the ones I want on blu ray once they're in the $10-15 range.

When I first saw the option to rent a movie through a streaming service for 48 hours for $3.99 a few years ago, I was not on board (even though as a kid I loved to visit Blockbuster and browse around and pick whichever movie I might like to see). I wonder if (with inflation) $20.00 these days is comparable to a "new release" rental price from 1996 for a VHS for 48-72 hours.

Renting through a streaming service is so much different than a video store. Maybe it was the allure of physically held media, the weight of the decision, the cover art, the ability to rewatch at your leisure, or the quality of the product...I do miss it.

But no, I do not pay $20.00 for a product that I can view for 48 hours. I did pay $13.99 for Avengers: Endgame for 48 hours a few years ago because I was in my cups though, so maybe I am a sucker.

Never. I didn't go to the theater at all this summer but spending $20 at home is not worth it. Have a new 65" lgi c1 and movies look great but it's not the same as going out.

Just a couple of times for movies still in theaters, $20 for the whole family is a good deal. Otherwise I wait for a $5 rent.

rarely. i was all for it but it seems COVID wasn't enough to kill off cinemas. the only positive is that movies come to streaming (as part of a sub) much faster now so i just wait for them to go on that or i rent at like £3-10 or buy them on Apple TV/Amazon when i can.

i hate cinemas now. they used to be exciting but it's far too expensive and the screens at my nearest cinema are awful. i don't know what it is but it looks like stains on the screen or what looks like "Dirty Screen Effect" that you get on TVs. some cinema screens have "dead pixels" too. They look horrible. The only good thing about going to a cinema is the size of the screen and the sound quality.

I'd rather just stay at home and watch a movie on my OLED tvs.

Theater chain by me has $5 Tuesdays so I have gone to and taken my kids to movies all summer on Tuesdays. It has been great. The only movie I paid full price for was Maverick - that has been the only movie worth it since probably Endgame. I also have a 120" 4k setup in my basement, but don't think I would ever pay for a $20 rental.

She should get checked for sleep apnea. I was falling asleep a lot during the day and it's because I wasn't getting enough good sleep and little oxygen. Was snoring a lot and waking up choking sometimes. Haven't fallen asleep during the day since getting my BIPAP machine.

I'd never pay to stream a movie at home that's excessively expensive imo. I prefer to go to the IMAX or 4DX for a premium experience. If I like the film I'll buy it on release in 4k.
