How often do you replay games?

Very rarely, the only exceptions being Full Throttle (at the time of its re-release) and Mass Effect trilogy.......other than that games like Halo which are fire and forget titles or Spiderman (the PS4 releases) aren't really worth going back to...

My library and backlog is ever growing, but I will always make time to replay my favorite past releases. Games that are truly great are fun years later when replayed. Some of my favorites to go back to:

Bloodborne
Borderlands 2
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy X
Halo (1, 2, 3, Reach)
Hollow Knight
Legend of Dragoon
Metroid Prime
Monster Hunter World
NieR (Replicant and Automata)
Paper Mario (and TTYD)
Pokemon Soul Silver
Resident Evil 4
Shadow of the Colossus
Super Mario Odyssey
The Messenger
Zelda: Ocarina of Time

sadly not much anymore, just 8/16 bit games completable in a couple of hours max;
in this period i'm mainly playing some ogxbox, ps2 or gamecube titles i havent experienced yet

back then i was faster, today i would like 48 hours for each day :)

Usually rare, outside multiplayer games I'll go back to hang out with friends.

Recent exception is the Steam Deck got me back into emulation, and I've been going back through PS2-era games like:
  • Ace Combat 4 - Shattered Skies
  • Batallion Wars
  • Chaos Field
  • Hulk Ultimate Destruction
  • PSI-OPS - The Mindgate Conspiracy
  • Rogue Galaxy
  • Steambot Chronicles
  • Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2
  • Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
  • Timesplitters

Fallout 4 broke me as a gamer in relation to getting brand new games. Rather try out older, proven bangers. Never listen to what the industry is trying to hype up anymore. And with how disingenuous many reviewers/outlets are, the truth about the quality of a game don't come to light until several months has past.

Fuck that noise, goodwill well and truly spent.

But apart from saving a metric ton of money, I've also had some of the best years of my gaming life both discovering amazing oldies, working on my backlog and messing around with emulation/retro handhelds.

The backlog and list of games I'm waiting to reach a comfortable price point are usually to damn big to replay many titles. But I do have Darkest Dungeon, The Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire permanently installed for when I just want a quick and sweet session Visit animalcompanymods.net.
I'm replaying my favorite games frequently, as in twice or thrice a year. And my perspective doesn't change for the better or worse, I can just sit back and enjoy a masterpiece again, knowing it inside out and getting better with each run. F.E.A.R. is a prime example, I replayed it over 40 times in all possible ways and I'm still not bored of it. Then there's Resident Evil 1-4, BioShock 1 & 2, Parasite Eve II, The Darkness, Max Payne 1 & 2, just to name a few.

I've beaten MegaMan X well over a hundred times, and to be honest I've been itching to do it again lately. It's been at least like four months since I played it last, so I'm about due to run through it again.

Solid list of games. If your having fun, then I say go for it! I have friends that find a lot of joy in both rewatching movies/series and reading books that they love. And seeing as much of what comes out are of questionable quality at times, I get it 100%.

For me some of the shine wears of when I re-play/-watch/-read stuff. But I'll admit that I've replayed Fallout: New Vegas and other games that has paths/choices that alter the story.

But there are so many games that I want to try. Started working my way through the huuuge PS2 catalogue recently, I missed ALOT of bangers from that time.

Too many game, so little time. 😁

I try to replay my absolute favourites at least once a year.

Resident Evil 1 and 2. The originals but also the remakes.
Final Fantasy 7-10.
Castlevania: SotN.
Bioshock.
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.

Yes, very often because racing games are very fast to get into when you need a hit and they are basically the crack cocaine of gaming. They hit hard and quick. Similar to FPS and bullet hells.

So, all the Burnouts, NFSU 1+2, MW, Carbon, SSX, Wipeout 3 SE, F Zero GX.

Also 'movement freeride' games like Tony Hawk skateboarding, Matt Hoffman BMX, Jet Set Radio 1080 snowboarding and again SSX etc.

Replay retro games. Rock n Roll Racing on SNES. Mega Man 3 on NES. Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube. Super Mario World on SNES. Super Mario Galaxy on Wii. Metroid Prime on Gamecube. Castlevania Symphony of the Night on PS1. Silent Hill on PS1. Resident Evil on PS1.

Not all time time but games I replay regularly

1. Final Fantasy VIII
2. Final Fantasy X
3. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
4. Deus Ex
5. Lost Odyssey
6. Symphony Of The Night
7. Shadow Hearts 2
8. Tactics Ogre (Reborn made it even better to replay)
9. Silent Hill 4 - The Room
10. Signalis

Almost never, I'll replay some RTS campaigns once in awhile, and play random Halo 1,2, or 3 missions but I really never go through a game once I beat it

Never. I rly don't get how ppl can do it :D I know how the game plays, its characters, its story and where everything is. Why should I go through that a 2nd time. The only time i "replayed" a game was Witcher 2 because it has 2 Paths, but if it doesn't have anything like that, i won't play again.

I actually replay more than I play new games, but most of them are arcade tittles or just a stage or two on other game

Got to play Ikaruga recently. Metal Slug 1, 2 and 3. House of the Dead 1 and 2 (not those atrocious remakes). Quake 2 I played from start to finish, and Metal Gear Rising I played like three stages

I rarely replay any games. From time to time there is a game I like enough to do a second playthrough. The only exceptions were
Witcher 2, which I replayed 6 times before Witcher 3 came out
Mass Effect 2, which I replayed 7 or 8 times before Mass Effect 3 came out
Empire Earth which I install once a year. Usually for a single game and then forget about it till next year

Not new games
I go through every year and see whats having a large anniversary. I did DK64 last year for its 25 year. Did Banjo Kazooie and Ocarina of Time the year before that, etc.

Crazy to think that PS2 and Gamecube are going to be in the 25 year old category now.

Oh man, I'm a replay fiend. It started with Super Mario World. I 100%'d it back in the day, it took months. There was literally nothing left to do but it was so much fun I didn't want to stop, so I just started another file. 100%, started a third file. Etc. Played it over and over for years, but only when I wasn't playing a new game. Did the same thing with Zelda ALttP. Funny thing is, I had no idea they were both 1st party Nintendo games, let alone that the same man was behind both. I just thought they were two of the best games I'd ever played and couldn't stop. Anyway that's how I became comfortable with replaying and can't relate to the 'one and done' mindset. Replaying has never prevented me from playing whatever new game I'm interested in.

Try not to with so many great unplayed/unfinished games in the backlog but sometimes can't help it. Fighting the urge to replay RAGE2 atm.

There's many pure arcade games I play all the time but don't really considering them replaying. More like enjoying them for a little while taking a break or unwinding.

Gears series in co-op every year with my cousin.
We were always coincidentally in the same country whenever a new Gears game came out so we would co-op through them whenever weve got a holiday around the same time.

Skies of Arcadia because its Skies of Arcadia and my DreamCast needs a work out every now and then.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit'10 cuz its one of the best handling arcade racers around and I cant get Burnout 3 on modern machines.

Not often.

I really just replay arcade games to get better at them (cave my beloved) and some of my favorites every 3~5 years or so

This year i replayed the God of War Greek Saga (all 6 games) for the first time in a decade, but the rest of the games i've played were all new experiences

Only done it once-- Shadow of The Colossus. I played it on ps2 back in the day, and played the remake on ps4. Definitely worth it.

I will play grim fandango again someday too. I was too young when I first played it, didn't understand a thing and used a lot of guides. It deserves a second playthrough. If Sekiro's sequel doesn't come out, maybe I will play it again too. Returnal could be another candidate, if Housemarque's next game doesn't deliver.

I really envy those who can play a game over and over again. I would love to play a game I enjoyed for thousands of hours, but once I see the credits, I just can't bring myself to continue.
