At work, I was talking to a customer about next-gen. This guy's a regular. He's there many times a week and really wants to work at the store when he's older. He was pretty excited about Xbox 360. About the Live features, about the new games, and about how it will play PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox games.
"Uh, I don't think that's going to happen," I said politely.
"It is," he said confidently, "It will play all of those games."
"If that happened, then Sony and Nintendo would come down on Microsoft hard. It'd be a very bad legal issue for them," I replied, injecting some logic into the conversation.
"No- that's the thing. Nintendo and Sony gave Microsoft permission."
At which point a coworker chimed in and sided with me.
Then today, this guy walks into the store and asks about the price of the PSP. He was a little hesitant though, because of the new handheld coming out by the people who made Xbox.
Where do these people get these ideas from? They both "knew" that what they were saying was "fact."
Also, if you have your own stories, post 'em here. They're always fun to read.
