How to play PSP games on a PS3 in HD (CFW Required)

It's been possible for a bit to convert any PSP game into PSP Remasters, so, here's a tutorial on how to. I haven't tested if it goes to 1080p, but so far I've been able to play them in 720p which is nice, and the bright side about doing this is that the PS3 plays PSP natively so there isn't any slowdown.

This tutorial is written with the assumption you are using your own backups, and thus, if you have any issues with EBOOT issues and .ELF, this is meaning you have a patched ISO and you need to redump a fresh copy of your backup for it to work.

Tutorial
Step 1
Download PSP2PS3 here and extract the folder.​
Step 2
Run ps3_minis.exe​
Step 3
Select your ISO by clicking the "..." button.​
Step 4
Click Options​
Step 5 (Optional)
Uncheck "Customize Package and Icon Background" so it'll use the default game preview that it has on the PSP on your PS3.​
Step 6
Make sure PSP Remaster is set and click convert and it'll start converting your PSP ISO into a .PKG file.​
Step 7
Once it's complete, it'll open the folder with your .PKG file. Put the .PKG on a USB memory stick or whichever form of memory you have that works on PS3.​
Step 8
Install the .PKG on your PS3 with your CFW and you're ready to play!​

I've noticed that people talk about piracy a lot on these boards, yet it is clearly stated in the rules that piracy and hacking shouldn't be discussed. How do so many people get away with it? I don't have a problem with it. I'm just curious. Not that I'm saying that piracy is involved here, but just from what I've read around the boards. I guess since people claim to "rip their own isos" that makes most of these discussions not piracy related,
but most people are probably lying anyways.


Also, the second screenshot looks amazing. Almost like a completely different game. I wonder how MGS: Portable Ops would look...

Anywho, this is quite neat... Alas no PS3 CFW for me to try =(
Would like to see more pics or footage.

Well technically it's not piracy when you're ripping your own games, but I doubt too many people actually do that. If you're going to pirate something, you won't get banned as long as you don't openly discuss it.

I'd love to install CFW on my PS3 but it just seems like such an ordeal.. It would probably be worth it though, my PSP is near broken these days

PSP games getting remastered? the only one i can think of is Birth By Sleep.

Theres plenty of good PSP games especially if you like jrpgs and PS1 enhanced ports

Very cool.
This makes me want the Ps1/2-HD-Emulation on Ps4 even more, they should also add PSP, apparantly even the Ps3 can do it.

Nope, ripping UMDs with a PSP has never been so easy!

As for getting a CFW PS3, on the other hand, IDK. I'm using PPSSPP in my case so I'll skip it, still cool that such things exists though.

Claiming people are lying about using their own back ups in threads like this can get you banned, I think.

What about ripping your own legally purchased games games and playing them on your own legally purchased console constitutes piracy?

To op... This is incredible. I had no idea this was even a thing, I wish I had a cfw ps3 now. Thank you for sharing.

Sony need to have PSP support on PS4, along with the announcement of Final Fantasy Type 0 localization. Isn't the PS4 rumoured to have native PS2/PS1 support coming in the future.

For the record, talking about this sort of thing is allowed provided people are using their own files. That said, the scope of this thread is incredibly small (very few people have a CFW PS3, and those that do probably already know about this), and dealing with the fair use == piracy brigade is not my idea of a fun Saturday.
