UMD Discs are pretty close to DVD quality the audio is just encoded differently was not quite
the same leap as going from VHS to playing poorly ripped VCD's on my shinsonic DVD player
but a folder of movies on my portable playstation which also supported DivX video playback in
my opinion made it the ultimate portable media machine!

I remember when anime studios were putting out UMD Video versions of TV shows with 2 episodes per disc, like they were going to drop 13 of those motherfuckers for a single show and people were just gonna lap them up.

It was dumb and completely obvious that it wasn't going to pan out, but I genuinely miss that era of throwing shit at the wall.

I watched Underworld and 28 Days Later via UMD on a night flight once. I felt like I was single-handedly pulling the culture into a cyberpunk future, but yall didn't follow. Now we're back here. With Series S and Peacock. PS6 has 0.75" TB discs in the other timeline. Little CDs with a pinhole in the middle for the mandrel. Pfft.

I once saw the UMD of Paranoia Agent at Blockbuster in Mexico... But I didn't have any money, so they beat me. If I had any, it would have been a great experience.
