Hunts or Heinz?

Sunday, after our weekly grocery run, I was unloading the haul and noticed Hunts had been purchased instead of Heinz ketchup. I was speechless. I thought it was understood in pretty much every household across the globe that Heinz is by far the superior condiment and Hunts is the equivalent of rotting whale bile.

I questioned the buyer and apparently it was purchased because "it was on sale."

I'm not normally quick to anger, but I could feel my temper building. I wasn't mad at her, but more the grocery store for even stocking such crap and having the gall to put it on sale to entice unwitting patrons.

Is there other ketchup besides Heinz? Why would you consider them? Why even look at them?

Everyone knows you buy Heinz ketchup, Kleenex tissues, and name-brand toilet paper. It's just how the world works.

I didn't mention the true tragedy. $30 worth of hormone-free ground beef was also purchased with the intent of being molded into a delicious meatloaf. Our loaves requires a lot of ketchup, some mustard, oatmeal, eggs, onions and green pepper.

I was hoping the other ingredients would mask the Hunts, but no.

Neither. This stuff:

I only use ketchup if it's the only condiment available for a hotdog or burger. I prefer mustard on hotdogs and hot sauce on everything else. I don't think I've tried hunts though.

Edit: and Stubbs is some good BBQ sauce

I was just thinking about this last night when I was eating a burger at home and the bottle of Heinz ran dry. I thought who buys anything other than Heinz? I even contemplated making a thread about it.

These days, I stick to 78 Red Ketchup. It packs a ton of flavor.

In terms of Heinz vs Hunts, though, Heinz 10 times out of 10. Hunts is gross and weirdly sweet. Not a fan.

Heinz. Hellmans. Coke.

When I go to a restaurant and am told, "Is Pepsi ok?" and then I see a bottle of Hunts on the table I literally have to stop myself from

Heinz is in our fridge right now, we pick it up without a second thought.

I assume people also debate whether it should be kept cold or at room temperature.

People debate settled arguments all the time (to-go tipping, global warming, defecating in the shower, clapping after movies).

Heinz should be kept cold in the fridge.

Yup.

Q: Do I need to refrigerate Ketchup?

A: Because of its natural acidity, Heinz® Ketchup is shelf-stable. However, its stability after opening can be affected by storage conditions. We recommend that this product, like any processed food, be refrigerated after opening. Refrigeration will maintain the best product quality after opening.

French's.

Heinz closed all their factories in my area so fuck them.

I switched to French's a few weeks back as well as I was finally able to find it in stores after the whole craze online about Heinz closing the factories. I prefer the taste of it over Heinz's.
