I really hope the PS3 version isn't completely terrible. Since my PS4 is dead, PS3 is the only option I have.
Has Activision actually shown off the PS3 version yet?

Anyone? This is the most hyped cod game since bo2. For the first time in awhile I'm very excited for a cod game, and just from the beta we already know it has the potential to be one of the bests. It's a good feeling
Also, when are reviews coming?
I had the same doubtsI have to admit there's a certain allure to it. Zombies specifically looks great, and some of the other shit I've been hearing sounds great too.
But then, I thought Advanced Warfare sounded great too. I played half the campaign, hated it, and never managed to enjoy multiplayer.
I'm not being swindled again.
^ What's your point? The black ops games are fantastic. Treyarch are amazing devs.
Surprised i'm hyped as well after playing the Beta... really impressed me.
Really hoping this evokes the feeling I had while playing mw1 and a bit of mw2. COD was really fun back then
On that topic, is this like a continual story line or are the games standalone?
Mind sharing what made the beta stand out to you? Anyone else please chime in as well that played it. I keep hearing about it, never got the chance to play it so I am curious what made it so awesome.

Despite all the new movement mechanics and abilities, it still managed to feel like old school call of duty with combat being mostly grounded. This was something Advanced Warfare completely failed at. The maps were also pretty great.
Edit: At least that is why I enjoyed it.
Sure!
1) Player movement. Nailed what AW went overboard on. Fluid movement of jumps, wall-running and slides but it's restrained enough that you don't have people flipping all over the map in the air like in AW. You still will dominate even if you spend all your time "on the ground".
2) Map design. Back to the three main corridors/pathways through maps. Teams must control the map like you had to in BO1 & 2. From the 4 or so in the beta i didn't play one i didn't enjoy!
3) The specialists are very fun. Each has his/her own weapon/super and ability. Brings a really cool, new twist to the game.
Oh thanks for this!
Damn....maybe I will have to dish out another $60 this month after all.
All the beta videos do look very nice! Either of you play on PS4? Curious about the performance

Pretty solid and I imagine will be even better come launch.
Played on PS4 and XB1... was damn good. Did have an occasional red bar mess up a lobby but that was maybe once or twice.
Thanks again to both of you. My wallet does not share the same gratitude though.
Anyone?
Not sure which to get it on, PS4 or XB1. Which version are people who own both consoles going for?
Lol! No prob. I feel you... i have to buy two copies now that we just finished our gaming room... the girlfriend and i play side-by-side on our own monitors and PS4s. Ugh, at least she doesn't like Halo... only had to buy one copy lol.
I'm probably in the minority who loved AW, so the similarities in BO3 combined with the good experiences I had with BO2 makes this my most anticipated game in a long time.
AW is easily my favourite COD, and I'm a bit sad it now comes to an end.
To all of those who act like it's embarrassing for the industry to have Call of Duty one of the most popular AAA games, I'll just say this:
I used to think the same way. I've played every Call of Duty from Modern Warfare 2, onward, and along the entire way I would make fun of not only myself for being engulfed by the FPS craze and Call of Duty, but the industry as a whole. As a result I never really appreciated some of the much better Call of Duty titles as I should have. I played multiplayer endlessly and would always say, "This game sucks. It's fucking shit. It's garbage." But then I began to realize how asinine that sounded since I was always playing it! So I started to back up little by little until I stopped playing almost entirely.
Now that I can look upon the series in retrospect because I haven't played Call of Duty in over half a year (longest stretch for me since 2009), I can appreciate the IP that much more. I can't make fun of it because it's one of the only FPS games that does nearly everything right, from campaign to multiplayer (especially multiplayer). These games are well polished and Black Ops 3 looks to be just as good, if not better, than the last few Call of Duty titles. Treyarch are mighty fine developers and their Black Ops series proves just that.
I'm no longer on the wagon to hate on Call of Duty just because it's popular. Doing so would prove futile and I'd be completely wrong. Sure, we get yearly installments of this series, and there may be growing fatigue, but the fact remains that Call of Duty, specifically Black Ops, is one of the most consistent FPS brands out there for good reason. I can't wait to get in on this when I buy a new PS4.
