Wu Chang Hype Check?

I think I saw a glimpse of this, but completely forgot about it until I saw this thread. I'd like to hear impressions. The moment I hear it's mid but acceptable I'll continue to forget about it. lol I have other stuff I want to play.

Dang it. Now I'm interested.

Too bad its a soulslike and not an action adventure or character action. But it has a good price, and looks good. I'll wait and see but its on my radar.

I'm in day 1. I like the protagonist and with plenty of outfits that seem fun. The action looks nice too, and the boss design. One can't also beat the price at launch.

Souls-like fatigue is the new WWII shooter fatigue
I don't have a fatigue but too many that come out are just mid.

Khazan
Surge 1&2
Wo Long
Nioh 1-3
Code Vein

I can keep listing more and more. I've only liked and completed Lies of P. The rest has been slop.

I'd be surprised if this ends up being Lies of P level but I'd be happy if it did.

Side note, I cannot believe how much I've fallen in love with Nightreign. I get it's not for everyone but it reinvigorated my souls like love even though it's different

That game is amazing even with all its issues.

It's like I've always said. Froms worst games are still better than most companies best games. They just do not miss.

Dusklbloods will be even better since it's a Miyazaki joint

I'm way more open do duskbloods after nightreign. Nightreign just needs to add new daytime enemies and better loot bc it's very much lacking. If they were really ambitious they'd make their own map too.

Only thing about dusk bloods is PvPvE. Idk if I'll like that but I'll keep an open mind

Did you play the newest Lords of the Fallen yet? It's gotten some big updates and I've heard good things. I own it but haven't gotten around to playing yet.

That game I played on release and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

It also deleted 5 hours of my play through right when I got to the final boss. It is IMO the worst souls like of them all. I couldn't be bothered to replay those 5 hours.

Im more harsh than most I imagine.

It's kinda wild to me they decided to use city of Wuchang as the setting for a game whose plot is a zombie virus outbreak.
In case you didn't know Wuchang is classic name for the city of Wuhan. When the CCP took over in 1949, they combined the 2 cities next to each other, Wuchang, and Hanko, into one city and named it Wuhan.

It is a good time if you are in the mood for it. It has a pretty interesting and well written narrative. It has really great feedback on landing a hit with a heavy weapon. Amazing crossbow and bomb/javelin builds. It has pretty good level design as well. My favorite features are that you can modify NG+ run settings with regards to random drops/enemies, leveled weapons, and even difficulty (I think you need to beat the game once for it but on PC you can throw in a completed save and just start a new one with those options enabled).

The only thing that is mind-numbingly dumb is that their boss/secret weapons require doing some unmentioned tasks to unlock the special attack and those requirements reset every run. Also many of the quests require guides as they can be failed by going forward before initiating the proper interaction.

It's basically the Dark Souls 4, but with limited weapon move sets. It's a different game compared to 1.0(which I deleted after 10 minutes) after latest updates. Just raise the camera movement speed a little bit(2?) and enjoy. It has better/interconnected level design and darker/souls worthy atmosphere than Lies Of P(which was another great soulslike). Wo Long was sick too, aside from complex/uninteresting chinese story and setting.

I'm waiting to play this one. It looks decent.

It will be about as good as Black Myth, maybe a bit better.

The Chinese Market has still some time to make some really good AAA, but they are slowly getting there

Turns out that Wu-Tang Clan has a PlayStation game built on the controversial Thrill Kill engine.
IOW - A risky M rated PS1 game based on a cancelled AO rated PS1 game.
Studios took risks with PS1 and PS2 that haven't been taken on any PS platform since.
PS1 games taking less time to make (months to a year, generally) gives studios far more headroom to 'fail' without going under.

The only way studios are going to start taking risks again is if the price of making games drops radically.
PS needs to bring back their Net Yaroze program for small studios and put the best submissions up for sale via PSN.
Giving studios an inexpensive outlet for all of the weird, innovative ideas that they've had to shelve will revolutionize gaming.
A PSN price point of well under $60 for a digital only PS1 game could easily be more profitable for both Sony and studios than charging $90 for a PS4/5 game.

Am interested. The recent gameplay footage and music sold me.

How many times is the guy from IGN in the video going to bring up "the fan service and some of the "risque" outfits he could do without". Go play something else then or just fuck off
Will cover my eyes and peek through the finger gaps during play in tribute of Patrick Klepek.

Don't know man, after getting burnt by the recent Khazan (incredibly mediocre to me)...I don't know if I can go through another souls-like, went through lies of P (good) and Lords of the fallen (loved it) the past few months but after Khazan with all its repetitiveness, ugly and boring level design and idiotic difficulty I think I'm done for the time being with this type of games...

Also, between the Switch 2 and Death Stranding 2, I literally don't have the time to add to my backlog/go through yet another game.

Bimmer crew here
I'll get it (at a discount, im not in a hurry to play it) but the one i'm really waiting on is phantom blade zero

Yep, Phantom blade 0 looks amazing and somewhat different to the usual souls-like, can't wait for it, one of my most awaited games alongside Crimson Desert...

I'm in the same boat with Khazan. For me I think it comes down to the loot grind. Green number go up is a pretty boring loop so the other systems need to be interesting to compensate and Khazan just doesn't have that. In Nioh it worked because of the variety with gear and weapons and combat encounters were really fun.

Its funny, Khazan and AI Limit released at the same time and Khazan got all the early attention and praise yet it seems AI Limit was the one that resonated with it's fans more as time went on.

I tried out both games the same day (demos) and I didn't realize Khazan had the tiered loot beforehand. Huge turn off for me, but otherwise thought it was okay.

AI limit I went in with no expectations and really loved the demo. The unique meter "stamina" bar mechanic is really interesting compared to the usual. Will be buying later on for sure.

I'm in...but not as much as I was before. Is it me or did the showings get worse as we got closer to launch?

Either way, I played through that other game...Wo long? It was on gamepass and so is this. So I'm gonna play it, gonna finish it but my hype has diminished a bit.

True it's getting slightly less impressive with each new trailer, still got to check out the W
