I hate to ride the speculation wagon but a Game Boy / ipod collaboration for Apple and Nintendo would totally rock the house.

Mp3 playing Game machine that's actually utiliarian with the two of the world's leading brands who have rabid fanboys and successful portable vs. Sony.

I've been hearing Apple has some interest in entering the games arena and Nintendo might be swinging towards more multimedia portables in the future. I could see cross licensing of technologies and cross promotions ipod/GB evolution compatability being a possibility.

Yeah, or simply ipod branded players with Nintendo chips and technology and similarly, Nintendo Game Boys that is linked to itunes and has apple technology.

THere needn't be a merger or a monumental stock swap. Just a mutual technology exchange and product collaboration. Certainly, Apple is milking their initial ipod design for all its worth and so has Nintendo with the Game Boy Advance.

The timing seems right for both companies to be working on the next generation of their successful portables and I'm sure there's discussion on some level inside both companies about the possibility. I can't be the only one to think of this. In fact, from my experience, everything I think about usually someone else is also thinking. Whether that concept wins out or not, is up in the air. But I see great synergy here and I hope to see something along these lines.

The Game Boy doesn't need additional help to sell. It's the home system market Nintendo needs to improve, and Apple's little Mac doesn't look like the success story Nintendo would want to emulate.
