The thread itself is a bit of a joke, and fueled by ignorance. "I don't understand it, therefore I hate it."
Ideology like this has caused some of the most terrible events in history, which I won't name to prevent sounding over-the-top. If people do not like something, then they should just move on and not pay it anymore attention. Especially if the "thing" isn't hurting anyone, and can be completely avoiding.
Granted, everyone has the right to voice their opinion on the subject, but for the sake their own sanity, and inner peace, they should just try to ignore the thing that ticks them off.
I wanted to talk about how messed up music gaf is.

There's nothing wrong with it though. Each of the music threads I've visited on GAF are full of happy and generally well-meaning people. Discussion is as light or serious as people want and everyone has a thread more or less.

And Gaga could go anywhere. Artpop could also become her last album if it flops like 0.99 Cents This Way. The fanbase is still mad over her last album.

There are a shit load of posters like the OP. The people who write off new music, the ones who write off indie music(seen in this thread), those who write off popular music. It never ends.

I think Pop GAF is scary. I went there once by accident and they were scary. Like, they were always angry and yelling at each other.

I like the Pop thread well enough. I just hate the bad gifs....good funny ones are ok. But posting ones that have no relevance to what is being discussed (or worse using gifs to avoid real discussion or in place of it) is fairly annoying. Plus everything is incredibly over the top at times.
Still I would rather have pop gaf "as is" than have no pop gaf at all. Its really only a couple of posters who are terrible.
If you go in realizing that 95% of what is said is hyperbole and intentionally inflammatory you will be better off. Took me a while to learn.

PopGAF is perfectly comprehensible. If you can't figure something out by inference, which is possible in most cases, you can always use the dictionaries and translation guides that have been so helpfully posted in our OT for your edification:

We can also seem a little hostile what with all the wig-snatching, slayage, and deaths (even the smallest of broken links can trigger a minefield of explosive shade), but it's all in good fun. Had a hard time understanding that? Please refer to the Stan Encyclopedia to get a feel for the kind of language we use. Some people seem to think that you have to learn and use the stan language in order to participate here. That is not true. However, if you are interested in such things, consider stating your faves as an application into ourcultway of life.

When I first came to Pop-GAF, I did not know the terminology. However, the only things I could not figure out by inference weren't really terms; they were references to events that one would have to have knowledge of to understand. I only learned of that dictionary after I had figured out what everything meant, and it served only as a confirmation.
So I suppose that I should be able to go into a ProgrammerGAF thread and, as a layman, understand everything that's being discussed without consulting an outside source in order for the thread to be deemed understandable?

That's about a technical subject where new terminology is required for specific actions, instances and objects (as opposed to pop music which doesn't require additional words than that of the existing English language) so your argument is without a paddle, really
