That joke is rather tame tbh. My female cousins and I joke about that kind of shit, but obviously no one ever takes it seriously. You probably should have explained things more clearly to your girl OP.

Yeah...thing is, that's the kind of joke you make to reveal a hidden desire to see if the feeling is reciprocated without going all in. That way you can always just roll back and say "it was just a joke jeez", and even if she/they don't believe you...the doubt is still there, and you can live off that doubt.

But she obviously saw right through it right away and wouldn't let it go. She sounds like a smart lady to be honest, probably would've been a good keep :p

Eh, no. My GF is usually there since she's close with my cousins and she knows not to take it seriously, and she isn't afraid to dish out similar to me either. Not all girls are insecure people who you need to walk on eggshells around, many are just as willing to take part in the banter, especially where I'm from.

It's not really about being insecure. It's actually better that you make the jokes to her face as she knows she is in on the joke. Making a "joke" about how someone is not attractive or not as attractive as someone else is a lot harder to take when you walk in on someone making the joke rather than them making the joke and giving you a smile to let you know what's up. You can be secure in your self and still be hurt by an insult.You can make a joke without it being at someone else's expense especially that one.

Also, if you make jokes even clsoe to what OP said you are actually terrible at jokes because that is a terrible joke in any context.
 
So.....this was posted tonight. I'm guess this was a while ago since OP is now moved out and living on his own playing xbox 360. And still during this time to reflect on the situation is still convinced that his then GF was overreacting over "a joke" about telling his cousin that she is way more sexually attractive than her???

I don't know OP. I think the "joke" was in pretty bad taste.
So bad that she re-evaluated you and the relationship's existence.

I'm surprised his cousin snitched to his GF about that joke though, or am I reading things wrong and the GF is angry for totally different reasons?
 
Last piece of the puzzle is finding out exactly what the cousin told the GF. I'm guessing it was a rundown of his years of inappropriate sexual jokes.

The fact that she didn't even want to add him on FB speaks major volumes.

I suspect like a lot of people that she wan't down with the jokes ever and it's probably why they were out of contact. Then when the GF saw the texts she was like, "why you after my man, girl??!!?" and the cousin was like "nah that's just my creepy cousin trying to creep on me like he's been creeping for years. :/"

Also...why would the then GF feel the need to check his phone while he was passed out....I'm sure this isn't the first time he has "joked" with other woman over the phone.

So after reading this whole thread, I am just amazed that everyone does not see this as entirely this guys fault.

Regardless of whether you (OP) and your cousin actually used to joke about how you found each other sexually attractive, and how she probably remembers and is most likely feels a deep remorse / is disgusted about this past behavior, lets just focus on the semantics of the issue.

You didn't just say attractive, you said sexually attractive. Sexual attraction / the expression of sexual attraction to someone who's family (for the sake of argument) in western culture (assuming western culture) is culturally taboo and highly frowned upon. Assuming that your girlfriend is the average person who has grown up in mainstream western culture, breaking up with someone who expresses incestuous feelings is an incredibly appropriate response.

That being said this is super funny and I'm waiting in anticipation to see how this pans out *snacks on popcorn*
