I hate allergies

I've had terrible allergies lately, well I usually do this time of year. My eyes all watery and itchy, congested, throat all scratchy. Fucking sucks.

Who else have allergies? What are some things to do to relieve this lol? I take medication in the morning but takes a little to take effect and isn't 100% effective.

I had horrible pollen allergies growing up. I had to take flonase and crap like that.

Then I moved to Arizona and I don't even think about it anymore.

Yeah, allergies suck.
"Well of course you prefer dogs, being allergic to cats an all that"
No! Don't invalidate my opinion because I'm allergic to the worse animal!

Disclaimer: Cats are okay

I feel you, OP. Had a ridiculous sneezing fit earlier in the morning. Though I've been better this spring than last spring where I practically had hay fever.

I have allergies they manifest mostly when seasons change. Asthma comes with it.

Also for three years i didn't have anything wrong with me because i lived in the desert and smoked regularly. It was heaven.

Took some Claritin and some ibuprofen last night and slept like a baby. Keep blowing your nose to drain as much snot as possible.

Today my headache and sinus pressure are pretty much gone.

Mine had been fine all year...until today. Tried cycling but my sinuses revolted against me about twenty minutes in.

I used to think people with allergies were all wimpy kids.

Then it hit me at age 25 or so. Fuck pollen.

I can't remember them ever being this bad for me. I just had pnemonia a few weeks ago too, so back to back feeling like crap.

I'd take this over pnemonia any day though. I had a fever of 105 for five days.

It depends...some days my eyes are watery, itchy, swollen, and I'm sneezing frequently. Claritin D works, as does the honey suggestion. Mine definitely came back when I stopped using honey.

I've had stupidly annoying hay fever for the last 5-6 years (which I used to keep under control with Zyrtec), but this year's been good so far. The only difference I can think of is the supplements I've been taking this last year, including MSM, N Acetyl L Cysteine, Vitamin C and Nettle Leaf.
Can't hurt giving it a try.

Started getting shots for trees and cats and now I am all good for the most part. Just sucks getting those things every week

Don't even get me fucking started.

Here's what I do to help with allergies and I am often still miserable:
-Take 3 medications daily- 1 pill daily and 2 nasal sprays twice a day
-Wear a hat or hoodie when I go outside
-Wear a surgical mask when I'm outside my house or walking to the train station for work
-Had sinus surgery
-Use a sinus rinse daily after going outside
-Get an allergy shot every couple weeks
-Have 2 medical grade air filters in my house, one for each floor, that cost $850 each (these have actually done wonders for my indoor and cat allergies, but don't help much with outdoor allergies obviously)

So yeah, fuck me and fuck allergies. Particularly pollen.

you sound like me, minus the surgical mask

I've undergone an allergen immunotherapy a few years ago and my symptoms are nearly gone. I can only recommend to try it out! The fresh air and smell of flowers is worth it ;)

I've been a hayfever sufferer since the age of 8. In the past couple of years, it hasn't hit me so hard but this year it's kicked the crap out of me. Thankfully no sore eyes, but my sinuses feel like someone has stuffed bricks up them and i'm taking aspirin to take the edge off the sore throat.

I take loratadine usually, supplemented with beconase nose spray and eye drops. It helps but doesn't get rid of it.

discipline is key,

I fucked up by skipping weeks, forcing me to reset my treatment back to zero

I have a big allergy of acarians. I have to take pills everyday, it help me a lot but it's still trigger occasional asthma attacks.

The worst part is that acarids develop with humidity, and i live in the more humid part of my country, in the most humid part of my city. I got like 80 % humidity in fall/winter. So yeah, i hate allergies. I also have a minor allergy to cats but i love them so much <3

I accidentally bought Allegra-D 24-hour behind the counter stuff at the start of allergy season and it fucked my shit up hard... anxiety, depression, insomnia, lack of appetite, the works. I've been taking the 12-hour for the last few years and it's been a life saver. I just got paid so I could buy my 12-hour again, so I'm hoping I'll be fine for the rest of the really bad part of my allergy season.

It is weird. I have terrible allergies on the east coast...like I basically hate life kinda allergies lol...but since moving to the west coast last year(or maybe it is just my specific location) I have only a few days a year with very minor allergies. Such a relief.

Heh. Sounds like I need to move.

I have allergies to eating shellfish which I can avoid. I am allergic to something else which happens during the hot days / months, but thank goodness, doesn't happen every year. Maybe, pollen related, but don't know. If it gets really bad, I develop large patches of hives all over my body. At that point, I am taking 3 different allergy meds which really fucks me up.

Spring and summer is the worst time of the year, because I have pollen allergy.

Next 3 months are going to be shit. Pollen and hot sun. Fuck that.

I have

- pollen
- animals (still love them so much - which is worse)
- egg white
- all nuts (pea, cashew, Brazil, macadamia, pecan, almond, pine, etc, etc)
- mushrooms
-celery
-pineapple

Pretty fucking grim. But a lot of people have it worse - none are fatal for me.

Apparently wheat too... But i refuse to give it up. Just very minor anyway

Do people develop it? I have never had them and feel like superman anytime its discussed at work

After 30 years on this earth I suddenly became allergic to, the greatest food in the world, shellfish.

Whats the point of living anymore honestly.

i had a vacation last week and before i even started it my allergies kicked in and i was miserable all the way through.

I don't even have allergies and it's annoying this time of year. The pollen gets all over my car and I don't park anywhere near a tree or even grass for that matter.

What do you take? For me when stuff like claratin or zyrtec isn't effective, i take diphenhydramine as my nuclear option which seem to kill it. It makes me really drowsy but worth it so i don't spend the entire day slowly dying.
