Just STFU already. I don't do it and I hate anyone that tries to do "chit f*ckin chat" with me. But it is even worse when you have to hear others do it all day long. Jesus Christ I want to stick my envelope opener in her eye. GAWD DAMN IT. Just shut up. JUST SHUT UP!


I swear to god if I have to hear her exhale one more f*cking time with "OK HERE WE GO," I'm going to snap. I kid you not.

No, I wish they did. They are the kind that think "Hmmm, she's not talkative, let's try everything under the sun to talk to her about." :/ I don't even make eye contact with them. I only say good morning when they say it to me. I don't do small talk. I hate it.

I do have a case of the mondays. I have it Monday-Friday.

Now we have a new guy here. I have a large L-shaped desk. Well, I don't look your way unless you say something to me (I just continue to type and stare at the screen) because people pass my desk a lot. Well he thought tapping on the desk would be a good way to get my attention. Needless to say, he was literally standing there for a good 5 minutes until he understood that he should say something.

Tapping? Um, I don't respond to tapping on my desk. Grow some balls and speak.

The only time I talk is when I say something sarcastic about another worker. I don't know why I'm still here, except that I do a really good job. But I would have fired me a long time ago. They must like it.
 
Office chat is the only thing that makes my day bearable.

People on other workgroups in the same role that I have, do fractions of the work that I do, and get paid just as much.. the only things that pass time for me is contact with other people, and burrowing through work. And I have feck all motivation to care about my work. I do more than enough. Talking really isn't a priviledge often enough.

Exactly. When I was interning at a construction company, talking to my co-workers about random shit makes the day go by faster (just as long as it isn't about work).
 
Maybe if it didn't always go like this:

"What?"
"That soda companies now make soda in 12 oz, 16 oz, 20 oz, and now 24oz."


"Hey did you hear about that movie?"
"What movie?"
"Uhhh boy, I forgot the name of it. I'll get back to you."

It could be worse...you could be forced to listen to one of my co-workers blather on about a tree she planted and what work she did in the yard over the weekend. Then again, I also get to overhear her complaining daily to whatever business has recently wronged her and that can certainly be entertaining.
 
But are they Jewish lawyers? It makes a difference. My father's an attorney who sub-leases his office from a firm of Jewish lawyers, and whenever I go there, they're hilarious. I could chit chat with those guys all day long, they just keep rolling out the jokes. Especially the old fat one...
 
Yes they are. They think they are witty, which just makes it worse. When the boss makes a joke everyone laughs and laughs. Then the boss looks at me and say something like come on that was funny - then I give a sarcastic response which is much funnier. The only think I found funny was when my SIL was here (she's out for a few months) and the boss would call her a bitch when walking by her and she would scream out to call him a c*ck in front of everybody.

Other than that, they are very very unbearable.

Jewish lawyers who AREN'T funny? Is nothing sacred?
 
I liked talking at my job over the summer... but then most of it was funny stuff. I hate idle small talk but making jokes/talking about work can be a great time. Talking about the stupidity of people that don't know how to use a computer can take up hours.

my two favorite conversations:

we were trying to decide how to word a form where we wanted peopel to fill in information about their computer. It took a long time because we kept coming up with stupid shit people would do instead of what we wanted. We had a hard time thinking of ways to say in like 3 words or less that we wanted to know how much RAM was in your computer. First we put RAM... but then decided people wouldn't know what RAM is. Then we put memory, but then even more people would prolly get confused by that. Theyd think we were asking them about their brain or something. So then we did RAM/Memory. Except that then people will think its a multiple choice question and respond with "I have RAM, not memory." And so on.

The other was I found a bug in our software that came up with an error box that said, "No Error." Then if you click OK the whole thing crashes. I felt it was my duty to present and laugh about this bug to everyone I could find.

If they're anything like some of the attorneys I deal with at my job, Tazz will have to wait for a response until they come back from their vacation skiing in Aspen (while she put in a full day on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve).

I had to work the friday after Thanksgiving and New Years Eve. My boss just got back from vacationing in Toronto.

Okay, so that wasn't exactly said, but it might as well have been.
 
Sounds like you were at my office last year. This year I wasn't playing that anymore. But that was the reason I had to work New Years Eve. Never get a day off without paying it back someway.
 
Sometimes its hard when you can't relate to your co-workers topics I don't have many ineterest that alot of my co-workers do so I often find myself feeling out of place during group conversations so often I sink myself into my work and take breaks alone from the packs but it doesn't hurt to be sociable every once in a while.
