I have finally solved PS5 slim loud fan noice

Since i got my PS5 slim digital i was disappointed how loud it was compared to xbox series x which was extremely quiet. It was so loud and annoying that i stoped using it.
After some research i figured it out that there are 3 different manufacturers of the fan, fox con, nidec and nmb. My console came with nmb fan which beside loud noice it was also making so called UFO sound. I bought delta fan (fox con was out of stock) to replace my cooler and the sound was almost the same minus the UFO sound. I was not satisfied and i have finally found fox con cooler available online. This was apparently the best cooler for slim consoles while it was worst for regular ps5. It came today and i have replaced it and the console is finally quite as xbox.
Its a huge difference, from really loud (louder than my PC) to quite as a series x.
Well that was my experience, I would strongly recommend replacing the cooler (it was very easy to do so) if the loud noice is bothering you.

That's the fan, what about the HORRIBLE noise from the disc drive though ? How the hell is that supposed to be normal in 2025 ?

The only remedy I found is installing a horizontal skate stand which minimizes the noise by a good 60-70% but then you have to take into account that when the groves where the console's sides slide in start loosing up from the vibrations and the console's weight, the loud disc drive reading sound starts creeping back in.

PS: BD disc density seems to also add to this since not all discs do it, for example, PS5 disc drive is quiet when reading/installing Armored core 6 but as soon as I put Final fantasy 16 or Silent Hill 2 remake in, the drive sounds like it's about to take off.

Be careful because some fans change for different revisions of each console.
I purchased a NMB for my PS5 which was the same shape as the launch one but the motherboard had a revision and the NMB caused it to overheat, I had forgotten that the launch PS5 had that massively over engineered heatsink so it didn't need the fan to spin faster.

Yeah, I have a launch era PS5 and its quiet as a mouse outside as some people say- when its spinning up a disk drive ( but unless its installing it just spins up a little bit when checking stuff out- but my ps4 also had a loud disk drive etc). and I have a PS5 pro with a disk drive installed, same deal, its quiet, and my living room has some other ambient noises so I dont have a perfect space to check its sound level, but again its really only disk drive related noises. I hear people say theirs is loud- but then I had the same deal with other machines. I had a very quiet PS3 and a very quiet PS4- and its not that I am deaf- because I have heard OTHER peoples consoles, and also in some games it was possible to make my PS4 scream like a banshee it just usually didnt and was quiet in general use. Same with dreamcast oddly. I had a very quiet one where the drive AND fan were quiet. - my friends dreamcast was soooooo loud when loading.

This is why I prefer the fatty PS5 model. I own two of those and none of them make a sound. Sony did a lot of cost cutting measures for PS5 Slim. Heat evacuation being one of those.
