i just rented MGS: Twin Snakes...

I also do not understand the hate this game receives from some folks. I guess if you're a "purist" for the original the changes would have left a bad taste in your mouth but I enjoyed the new cutscenes, etc.

I also preferred the more action-handed approach because this is how I've always played MGS games. I hate sneaking around and only do it whenever necessary. As I advanced through MGS 1 and 2, I always killed everyone I came upon, hopefully before they even saw me, so I guess that's the only stealth I was interested in.

Another reason folks might not like TTS is simple GC-dislike or just being so used to the DS2 that you can't come to grips with the GC controller. There's nothing wrong with the control in TTS that I could see and I played the first two games with the DS2 as well. Of course I've spent more hours on the GC than the PS2 total so I am very used to it, but that means that there aren't "problems" other than not liking/being used to the GC pad.

VR missions? Again it comes to tastes. I played the VR missions on the first game some and even bought the separate VR game for PS1 but I have to admit that with no story and 1-mistake=start over gameplay I got bored real fast. Probably goes back to how I play these games to start with.

Anyway, I traded in my original MGS (non-GH) and VR disc as soon as I had TTS and haven't looked back. Now the only PSX games I have left are Castlevania: SOTN and Chronicles and I'll never, ever get rid of those.

I was one of the first people to buy MGS back in 1998, and i was also one of the first to buy TTS (hehe, i haven't played/bought MGS2 or 3 yet).

There are just some things i prefer in each game, so both are a keeper to me:)

I liked how in the codec conversations, whenever someone says "...", one of the characters would actually move their lips as if they're talking but obviously there's suppose to be silence. Haha nice one

And I prefer the original version

On that note, the video that followed after meeting Kenneth Baker (ArmsTech president) seemed like it was lifted off of the original MGS disk. It was highly compressed and at a low resolution. Playing the game on my monitor in progressive scan mode, i actually uttered the words "what the fuck".

And then there's that weird choking sound...

Konami used a new video sequence for that part of TTS, but as you can tell, it's highy compressed (doesn't anyone use Factor 5's video compression tool?). I'm certain the ending video was lifted straight out of the original.

Other than that, i must say the codec portraits look a bit low-res:(

and after the greatness of MGS3 (my first metal gear game i have ever played) I cannot play this piece of shit. the controls suck. there is no CQC. the 1st person view sucks. i don't like the anime codec or the radar.

woe is me.
TTS is greatly flawwed because of Silicon Knights' involvement
You're supposed to play it for the cut scenes :P

You can always consider suiciding when the MGS live action film is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura :)

My least favorite include
the one with the hind D and the grenade and the one with Volcan Raven and how Snake pulls out his rocket launcher from nowhere like a cartoon character
:lol
THIS bothers you? Not the fact that someone can carry Pistols, Rifles, Rocket Launchers and more on a suit with hardly any pockets

Waahhhh I'm a whiny little fucking bitch Waahhhh

Shut up, seriously. The game has been out for ages and we've gone over this time and time again. If you don't like it, keep it to yourself, no sense in being a fucking drama queen about it.

Twin Snakes is a different perspective on a game that could be taken either way, over the top or subtle and slow. It works well within both spaces.

The cut-scenes are far from tasteless, Kitamura is the fucking man.
Damned straight.
