I just turned 30 and don't feel anything

i'm nearly 30 and dreading it. i still feel like a stupid 18 year old kid. yeah nothing will change...it's just another year and a bigger number but fuck i'm starting to feel really old. i know it's not old but it's scary to think my life is likely closer to it's end than the beginning. a lot of my family died at the age of 45-50. it's quite possible i've only got 15-20 years left. at best i've got another 30 years. i'll be lucky to live another 35-40.

Yeah this is where things start moving fast and before you know it that hot girl giving you eye is 20 years younger then you
And the hot girl you liked in your 20's doesn't look so hot now...well sometimes they still do 🤔
But you feel the same as you did when you was 25

The only thing you “Feel” when you’re 30 is that it doesn’t feel like you thought it would feel. Based on how 30 feels, you now get to realise the following is probably coming:

40, where you think you’re 30 but your body is starting to betray you
50, where you start to look as old as you feel
60, where you realise you’re old now and twice as old as when you made this thread
70, where you’re retired and enjoying life in a new way because you’re getting too old for quite a few things like giving a shit
80, where you’re starting to contemplate death
90, where you’re wondering how you survived this long
100, which you won’t reach because you ate crap while you spent your younger, healthier years posting on GAF

And now you’re back in the present having an existential crisis because everyone who said life is too short was absolutely right and the rest of your life is going to happen very quickly.

Happy birthday!
I would say most are going to be contemplating death and seeing into the 'black void' at 45-50, not 80. Statistically, you don't even reach 80. Otherwise, I agree.

Trust me as a 39 year old guy, your 30s are basically just another 20s.

40+, now that is some scary shit

How old do your knees feel?
Bro, even since rona hit i've been trying to get my daily walks in. I ain't gonna lie, sometimes they be feeling kinda grandpa-ish.
Happy birthday brother!!

It is perfectly normal not to feel any different at 30, just go with the flow and enjoy.
Thanks man, I will!
I noticed this started happening to me about a year ago. I'm almost 28.

I don't think there will be much difference when I'm 30. Actually I heard somewhere that men attain mental maturity at 28 and it is resonating with my experience. Things just start falling into place.

EDIT: Happy birthday OP. Enjoy.
I feel the same way,. Life really started around 28 for me and everything is starting to make sense.
Thanks for the gold, you're too kind!
31 here. I can't handle alcohol the same as I did in my 20's. I get massive hangovers now.

I do feel like an adult, which I didn't in my 20's.

My knees hurt a bit if I walk to much, it didn't happen at 29, but then, again, I'm fat as fuck.

I'm finally being conscious about my health and eating cleaner and better. I intend to get fit again.

It's been great so far, I do feel like I'm aging, though.
That's some good shit bro, keep it up.
I just turned 30 somethings too OP. Congrats to us.
Ay congrats!
Yeah, 30 didn’t feel like anything “pivotal” or anything. Not that I think I have my life together or anything. Almost three years later though and you definitely feel that stretch where..yeah being “old” starts to creep up on you. On both the bad and the good ways.
That's what i feel as well, although it's way better than it was before.

Let's make the best of it bro and end up as grandpa GAFfers.

I''ve seen this and was actually happy I dodged that bullet.

Alright to 10 more years before it's all over.. T-thanks.

10 years is a long time

So just go hard. No one got a medal for living until 120

My biggest advice to you is to make time for yourself, don't let work get in your way
Because before you know it you'll be 40-50 and all those years have been spent working and sleeping.

At 35 the only difference I notice is it's easy to get lower back pain and I can't sleep as well as I used to. When I do get a good night's sleep I feel the same energy I had in my teens and 20s all day long.

The title sounds kinda depressing but it's not lol.

I'm at the best point of my life and it feels like it's going to keep on getting better.
It just didn't feel like anything special to be honest. But then again, I don't know what else i could've expected.

Where my fellow 90 kids at? How did you celebrate and feel when turning 30?

I'm turning 35 this year and 30 was nothing special to me either. In the last four years the only thing I've noticed is that 1. It is now socially acceptable to say no when people invite you out, and 2. I can actually put on fat now. Other than that I like being in my thirties. Keep on keeping on I say :)

I'm 36 and I feel better than ever. Of course I would love to have the 20's physique, but I can't complain and I feel fit. Mentally I'm very content.

Maybe I'm at this place because I never feared getting older. People are making themselves go crazy.

I need to stop worrying about age, teach me your ways. Already worrying about getting old at 25. Trying to remember to live in the present, not the future.

Just be grateful for what you have and don’t take things for granted. People in “the West” tend to overblow their problems a lot. If you’re healthy, don’t take it for granted. Many people died younger than your age.

I’m originally from Albania. Everytime I visit that area and see in what condition some of the people live there, makes me feel so grateful of the situation I’m in now. I really have no right to complain. The majority of people in this world have it way worse than me, and probably you, too.

Of course it’s different for everyone. But a good start is to put things in perspective. Some problems are just no real problems. Like aging. I’ve accepted it because currently there’s no way to stop it. It’s not worth worrying about. Like death.

Turning 30 felt putting your foot down on the accelerator and watching your youth disappear in the rear view mirror. Give it a couple of blinks and you'll be wondering how you came to be 40 so quickly, then you can revert back to acting like you're 20 again, except with more cash and less stamina.

well I'm 32 this year and I've kinda just gone through the motions of life since 25. I was trying my hardest to improve myself just to be knocked down time and time again. Still hopingthose better times to come back, but I'm not willing to chase it anymore.

Give it a few more days, your dick falling off typically happens in the first two weeks. If it takes longer than that, please see your doctor asap.

Same, I think that's a good thing though. I would not like to become a grumpy old man on a porch shouting at the youngins.

Very much true. When the wife of my brother turned 30 she acted like the world was ending lol.
I'm in my mid 30s... sometimes, mentally, I'm 16. I miss the 90s.
You and me both bro.

There's no need to worry my man. To be honest (in my situation), my life actually started getting better around 25. I'm actually happy that I went through all the shit because it made me the man I am today. We're all still young and have allot of years to go, you'll be alright.

Oof, i felt this one. I'm having a hard time remembering my youth. Although that can be the trauma rather than the age, dunno.
You hit 30, nothing changes and you carry on as before. That's it.
Basically.

It will happen man, gotta work for it though. They ain't handing them out for free, but don't let that discourage you. It'll be alright in the end.
For me the road to 30 was much worse than going over the hill itself. Late 20s I was like.... shit... I'm getting old... Then when I finally turned 30 I was like.... yeah, whatever.
Lmao same.
It’s just a number, be glad you are alive
I most definitely am!
I’m about to turn 47 (on the 25th) think how I feel.
My heart goes out to you. Lmao nah, you good.

That's supposed to happen after you turn 30????

I'm 37 and feel no different than I did when I was 28 or 30. But when I look back at pictures of myself from that time, I'm shocked at how young I look. Just clear skin, less lines, less aging. 30 looks young now, which is very strange.

But I'm 175lbs now and I was 225lbs then (6'1) so I actually feel younger and more full of energy now than I did then, which is part of the reason why seeing my face is so jarring. I don't feel like my looks should have changed at all.

Only other change is that the libido continues to cool, which considering how I was from my teens to my mid-20s is no bad thing. There's space for other thoughts now!

Other than all that I really feel like I'm going to be "young" until the age of 45 and maybe beyond.

I'm sure I'd feel very different if I had kids. My brother is four years younger than me but with two kids and he's always tired and beat down these days. Worth it for him though.

Maybe that will be the case. I honestly have been making great personal growth and progress during 2020 and so far in 2021. I'm growing as a person, changing some habits and even working out now. So maybe it'll be upwards from here.

Yo that's good to hear, I'm proud of you. Keep it up! I can only imagine how much strength it takes to make such progress during these difficult times.
Time to start saying it will be, instead of maybe.

Oh man, I'm happy this has happened. Exactly like you said, I can think about other things instead of draining the sink 6 times a day.
Do you want to have any kids?
technically I'm 30 soon, but everyone knows birthdays during pandemics don't count so I'm looking forward to an extra year of my 20s.
200 iq, I can get behind this.

Oh, just give it time.

I turned 30 back in 2019 and at first felt fine, but after a couple of months it really started to sink in and I've been going through a midlife crisis style deal ever since, it doesn't help that my 30s just so happened to coincide with the whole corona virus thing.

My problem is regret over some decisions I've made in my life, you may feel differently depending on where you are in your life, but for me my 30s have been a fucking nightmare, I'd do anything to go back to even just being 29 again.
