I liked Halloween Ends and I don't care.

No it's not the movie I was expecting. Far from it. They take an absolute wild ass swing, and IMO they make it mostly work although I feel that Corey Cunningham should have been introduced in like H2018 or something for a bigger payoff. Some of those kills were wicked twisted and brutal. Corey does make Michael look like a little bitch which a lot of people are going to hate. Laurie was IMO at her absolute best here. But this is Corey's movie. If you are down with him, you'll have a blast. If not, you will hate this more than Resurrection.

That final Laurie vs Michael confrontation was great and way better that what happened in H20. Now THAT is a resolution. Way better than Kills, and it kind of really follows the same pacing as Halloween 1978. And that soundtrack...hnnnnng!

One detail I really liked

when Michael and Corey kill together, Corey has a clown mask that looks just like the mask Michael could have had in the original before the Shatner mask.

I have yet to see it. I do like the franchise, but I am not super daft on it, though.

I also miss A Nightmare on Elm Street. Heather Langencamp wants to do one last sequel. But Robert Englund is probably not interested in returning.

Glad you like it. I haven’t seen the 2nd or 3rd one myself but I suspect it’s gonna be about Michael getting a call from his estranged son to mend their differences and go on a road trip killing spree, bonding over their mayhem. Can’t wait!

I'm halfway through and had to pause because Young Michael Rooker actually had sex with main girl even though he was just rolling around in shit and blood in the previous scene.

Edit: Finally finished watching it. It was interesting. Easily a better movie than Kills, but that's not saying much because Kills was unbelievably bad.

I didn't like Halloween Kills, but as a horror fan I feel compelled to finish the franchise. It's encouraging someone on GAF enjoyed it.

Lmaoooo. A whole town couldn't do it the last movie and all of a sudden osteoporosis having Jamie Lee Curtis does it herself? Lmao.

That's that real feminist power fantasy. 😂

I was planning on binging the first two movies on a streaming platform and hitting up the local Odeon tonight. I can't be bothered now as the weather is terrible and people are burying this thing on the review aggregate sites.

Wise. It’s terrible, with one of the dumbest plot beats I’ve ever seen.

Didn't even realize this came out. Guess I'll squeeze it into my weekend. Still disappointed they abandoned their original plan for this movie (I liked their original concept of the new trilogy all being one night) but so much for that. Hopefully it's entertaining but if it sucks, well, this whole franchise kinda sucks anyway so par the course. =P

Like I said, not in any way in a degaratory sense. Just like...official Jew.
I know. That gif just came to mind and made me laugh. I get what you mean.

On topic, I'm curious about this movie but the last one was awful. I couldn't even finish it and some of the reviews I'm seeing for 'Ends' make sound just as bad or worse.

The Halloween series should try being an anthology horror again. Focus on short stories and have Myers in the background raising hell. Kinda like Sam in Trick r Treat. Less is more.

Well Ends...is basically that. It's a new story with Michael in the background sometimes raising hell. Which is obviously not what people wanted, but I appreciate how different it was.

Maybe you're being a little overdramatic Funk? The movie dropped in theatres less than 12 hours ago. Let that hot blood cool a little and then provide a cohesive answer.

I don't think I'll be changing my mind, no matter how much time passes. The plot of this movie derives from the fact they couldn't come up with a decent plot about Michael and Laurie for the finale of both, so had to insert an extra, new character just to have something to say and do. Hallmark of a lack of imagination, or ability to actually come up with a decent story to finish the trilogy off.

I'm definitely more of a Friday the 13th guy, but I know the feeling. While she's definitely not as important to the series as Heather was to Nightmare, I'd love to see Amy Steel show up in another Friday the 13th movie.

Heather kills it in A New Nightmare though, which I loved.

If they were to bring back a Friday the 13th human character I can’t imagine they would pick anyone besides Tommy. He’s easily the most iconic character of the franchise outside of Jason, Pamela, and maybe Crazy Ralph.

Regardless, a new film period would be nice. I eventually stopped falling the whole legal rights debacle so no idea if that got resolved yet or not.

It is resolved but not really. Now the rights are split in two, and no one can make a movie really. Except if they make a deal together, which probably won't happen.

I completely agree, which is why (as far as I'm aware) at least 1 fan film has gotten Tommy's Jason Lives actor to appear in it. Ginny is my favorite final girl though, so...

Michael kinda looks like he needs a walking stick or is about to have a heart attack at times in this one
He is older then Laurie after all and is definitely not what he was in Kills which they don't explain.

Overall I thought is was okay but nowhere near as good as the first two or how the trailer made it look.
While what they delivered was intriguing I don't think the final film was the right place for it.
but with the way the films played out I can't see where they would have put it without completely changing H2018.

Out of the 3 alt timelines I think I prefer Halloween 1/2/H20 and just ignoring Resurrection like it was supposed to be.

Not sure how I felt about it.

Some nasty kills in it
the engineering gas burner one made me wince, as did slitting Michaels wrist
. But it wasn't really what I expected at all.

I did like Michael kinda hulking up when killing the copper, then he got beat by his mini me anyway 😂

I honestly prefered the Hellraiser reboot to that tbh.

It was different but I enjoyed it. It has some good ideas. I feel they should of just said fuck the trilogy and make four movies instead to be able to tell what they wanted to in this one.
Kills were very good as well.
I'm going to rewatch the trilogy in a few days and have no problem watching this again

Amy steel always deserved a better career than she had.

The last film plays into it all to be fair. He's a wreck in this one.

I enjoyed it too. It felt like a John Carpenter story, warts and all. I liked the way it dealt with grief and the ways people can spread evil without needing a figurehead or boogeyman. Some fantastically gruesome kills as well.

My problem was his uneven power. At times superhuman and others weak old man.

Halloween Ends is easily the worst entry in the series. Imagine being able to say that when The Curse of Michael Myers and Resurrection exists.

Just to get this out of the way, as I’ve said before here, I’m a horror fan, particularly a huge fan of the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, also grew up on the Halloween and Friday the 13th franchises. I am not one of those people who cares about kill count in a movie, though I do welcome the kills, I just don’t care if there are 5 or 55. I want a good story. Some people watch them for the kills and complained they didn’t like this movie because people didn’t die every 5 minutes.

This movie did not provide a good story for me whatsoever.

Without spoiling anything……

Michael living like a fucking ninja turtle and making a friend is hilarious.

Making Corey’s character more important in this movie than Michael is horseshit, no one wanted to watch this movie for Corey. Fans wanted to see closure in the Laurie vs Michael story. How the fuck you gonna put Michael in it for a total of 10 minutes, are you batshit crazy? This movie jumped around, had multiple characters that you just couldn’t connect to, you didn’t care if they died, had short scenes that ended as quickly as they began, things that just didn’t make any sense, Michael being a weak bitch, really? I mean, we get it, he’s like 70 now, but, you still can’t make this feared killer a weak pile of shit. If you’re going to do that, why bother making this movie?

The ending seemed rushed, like they just really wanted to end it and not really put much emotion (for the viewer) in to it, like you want to feel relief for Laurie, you want to walk away satisfied that she’s closed this chapter and you just instead walk away empty. I think the “rushed” feel was also attributed to the fact Michael is hardly in the movie, so, even though he’s been wanting to kill Laurie forever, you don’t feel what you’re supposed to be feeling when the end comes. You instead feel like a dummy for wasting 1.5 hours of your day watching this mess.

If you’ve seen Jason Goes to Hell, this is the Halloween version. The 2018 one was pretty good, they should have ended it there. Nice 40th anniversary conclusion, but, no, we were subjected to Halloween Kills, which I thought was going to be the worst Halloween movie….until Halloween Ends came out.

Days like these...

Have a Blessed Day
Maybe the producer, director and writers hate slashers? Seems like the only logical explanation. I know I do but still I feel bad for the fans.

I feel Friday the 13th Part 5 would be the more accurate comparison given it also features a copycat killer. Granted, that film has received less hate as time went on (definitely not the best, but it has some good supporting characters), but the difference is F13 Part 5 is not the end of the franchise. This movie is, and though I still need to see it myself (had car issues this weekend), it seems like an idea that should have been done in a prior film and not the grand finale (at least for Laurie).

One could argue F13 Part 9 was made to be the end of the franchise, but I never bought that (the studio just got the rights and they immediately end it? Press X to doubt) and the fact the final shot just screams, “Freddy vs. Jason!” regardless of what the director intended.

Let’s say part 5 and Jason Goes to Hell put together. It’s basically a mash up of both.

I didn’t expect anything amazing coming off of the vomit that was Kills, but, I really did expect a movie where Laurie and Michael were going to be heavily featured and everything was going to come to a satisfying end, pleasing everyone who has watched this series unfold since the original.

You’re going to leave scratching your head, with more questions than answers, and not feeling this story is “complete”, just rushed at the end.
