I liked Halloween Ends and I don't care.

I enjoyed the Corey stuff, but I feel like there should have been more scenes with Michael using his full power and wreaking havoc around town. I feel like it was cut too short.

Would have been cool if Michael wasn't killed off so quick, and Laurie let him get away in the kitchen. That would give Michael a few more scenes to shine, scare the people around town, and then there could have been a 2nd fight in the junk yard where Laurie finally takes him out. This movie should have been like 30 min. longer lol.

liked the first one (2018) only got like halfway through kills and didn't like it never tried to finish it just saw this one it wasn't bad I don't have any or never had any attachment to this franchise.
what they do with the mask tho ??? probably mike's spirit will live on through the mask whenever someone wears it

Took them long enough to put his body through a fucking grinder of some sort.
Just dismember the dude and let that be the end of it.
But yeah giving Michael only like 10 minutes screen time in a Halloween movie is pretty insane.

Saw it last night and loved it. No way they could have another movie with Michael rampaging around. Was smart to focus on the evil spirit that drives him.

Just wish they had a scene that bridges kills and ends. Kinda weird to have one movie end with him staring out the window like the terminator then he appears in a sewer all weak.

So many things wrong with this movie I don't even know where to begin. All I can say is that as a final movie in a "trilogy" that is 40 years in the making, this movie is a slap in the face to the fans. So much disrespect and inconsistency to Michael. Ends has Jamie Lee Curtis' fingerprints all over it. The vibe I got after watching this is like The Last Jedi all over again, expectations definitely subverted but when will these dumbasses realize that you don't spit in the face of your biggest fans.

If you want to see a proper slasher done right everyone do yourself a favor and go see Terrifier 2. I drove 30 miles to the nearest theater showing it and left way more satisfied than with Ends. I do warn you though its not for the squeamish and if movies with graphic gore like Saw bother you, you should probably pass on it. You don't necessarily need to see part 1 first but its free to stream on a lot of services so you might want to check it out first.

Happy for the people who enjoyed it. But what you found smart I found absurd. They had a ton of mythology previously. Then they ignored it in H2O so that Laurie wouldn’t look bad for leaving her daughter behind for Michael to rape and murder (this is true). Then they wiped the revised story line for the remake. Then they wiped out everything except for him being a psycho who stalked Laurie. So going back to the evil spirits was a bridge too far for me. It’s like they justified the whole trilogy by casting shade on anything Potentially supernatural, only to circle Back to it simply to make a 3rd movie.

I'm sorry but this movie was the hottest of garbage. I wasn't expecting much after Kills, but man what a train wreck.

I wouldnt have minded the whole Cory angle if it was building up over the first 2 films, but why try cram it into the final movie? WTF were they thinking?

It's sad because 2018 was fantastic, especially after the years of trash fans had been fed.

Oh well, another beloved franchise in the toilet. What's next?

Someone said Michael is like a ninja turtle roaming around in the sewer only getting like 10 minutes screentime in an almost 2 hour long movie. Its funny but true.

For a series finale, its tragic. I don't even know who the fuck Cory was. Why should I care about him in this one so you have a point in that they needed to build his character over a series of movies instead of shoehorning it in here. This should have been all about Michael. In fact Cory should have been the one in dumped in the sewer 😂

Hot garbage is an understatement for this abomination. I waisted almost 2 hours last night with this. What a waste of my fucking time. I Could've been more productive with my time browsing pornhub

This movie is dropping like a rock, and for good reason. I figured Friday the 13th Part V would have taught studios this is not how you handle a slasher icon. After just a week at the box office, it's already dropped below Smile, which has been out for almost a month.

Movie was ass. The most common opinion regarding this movie being "good" is that it did "something different" As if that would be the only reason this movie could have been good.

I don't think I can say much more than what others have already said. They need to give it to some purest with fresh ideas, but knows how to play it safe within the rules of the series. I felt that Ends would either be fucking horrendous or fucking awesome. I am sorry to say, it ended up being the earlier.

I want to see it again, then be done with it. Not because I want to see it, because I was so taken back by what was going on, on the screen, I couldn't process half of it, because I was too busy within my own head, trying to figure out wtf they were going with this and why they even came to this decision in the first place?

I liked it a lot. I thought it was a solid trilogy with a satisfying conclusion. I was invested in Corey’s story and how he turned into what he became. My only complaint about the movie is that it wasn’t scary. Kills was much worse but I’ve learned to find the fun in it whenever I watch it

Laurie died in a car accident between 2 and 4.

And yeah Jamie was pregnant with Michaels child, but she was artificially inseminated by that stupid thorn cult.

Right. In H20 it became she faked her death though. Unless I’m misremembering.

She didn't fake her death in the original timeline. She died. Because they couldn't get Jamie Lee back.

They didn't know how to continue the franchise after all the Thorn shit so they rebooted it and made a new timeline with a direct sequel to Halloween 2, ignoring 4-6.

To explain the 20 year gap they said that she faked her death so that's why Michael couldn't find her. She never had a Daughter in this timeline. All the Thorn shit never happened.

Then they didn't know how to continue that timeline and they made another one that ignores everything after Halloween 1 lol

I think only Star Trek has more timelines.

And to think film execs worry that audiences would be able to accept a change in Batman actors :p

JFC when you lay out Halloween films like that its just crazy.

No it's not the movie I was expecting. Far from it. They take an absolute wild ass swing, and IMO they make it mostly work although I feel that Corey Cunningham should have been introduced in like H2018 or something for a bigger payoff. Some of those kills were wicked twisted and brutal. Corey does make Michael look like a little bitch which a lot of people are going to hate. Laurie was IMO at her absolute best here. But this is Corey's movie. If you are down with him, you'll have a blast. If not, you will hate this more than Resurrection.

That final Laurie vs Michael confrontation was great and way better that what happened in H20. Now THAT is a resolution. Way better than Kills, and it kind of really follows the same pacing as Halloween 1978. And that soundtrack...hnnnnng!
So, you like dog shit? Ok then

I will always view H20 as the sequel I expected when I saw it opening night. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I think they originally had set it up that way, with Laurie throwing up when she heard mention of daughter. Then scrapped those scenes cause they knew she would look bad regardless.

I really hated the last one " evil dies tonight"

Honestly I have issues with this one but it wasn't bad.. It was entertaining even though some things kind of made me scratch my head.

Finally got around to watching it. Wanted to see it in the theater, saw the prior 2 that way but just too busy so I streamed it last night considering it was Halloween.

I enjoyed it. I thought the ending was pretty subpar but everything up to that was fine. I really enjoyed Will Patton Rohan Campbell, I thought he carried the movie, Alison too.

I've never been a fan of Laurie, the only portrayal I like of her was in H2O. I wish they would have killed her off in 2018 or in Kills.

I honestly don't understand the outrage that some people get over the Halloween movies. Go back and watch them all, the majority of them are boring turds with lame kills. Michael is just so damn iconic that I think a lot of people just assume the movies are all classics. They arent! lol. Seriously, most of them are shit.

To give you an idea of how different I am from a traditional Halloween fan. I think Kills is hands down the best in the series after the original. Halloween 2 is boring trash, 4 is decent. 5 is by far the worst in the series. 6 is trash but has decent atmosphere at times. H20 is a legit good Halloween movie and gets trashed for whatever reason. Resurrection is dumb as hell but a fun early 2000s popcorn relic. Then you have H2018, Kills, Ends. 2018 was fine for me, absolutely loved Kills cause we finally see Michael go full Jason mode, the film was beautifully shot and the OST is some of Carpenter's best. Ends has the strongest narrative in the series and Corey/Alison were great. Just the ending that was kind of weak but whatever, it is what it is.

edit - Ends has one of the best cameo's too, DARCY THE MAIL GIRL in the radio station at the end. What a pleasant surprise. She's Joe Bob's cohost on The Last Drive-In, MonsterVision type show that's only on Shudder.

off topic but this wannabe Alice in Chains song is the best part of Halloween 6. This video is gold too because look at the stills, Michael looks like he's wearing a frigging diaper, lol. Dude is thicc. Seriously, the Halloween series is built upon a mountain of lies.

I think it's the best of the new trilogy to be honest. Enjoyed the 1st film. Hated the 2nd. Really enjoyed this one.

Halloween Ends is a "bad" movie, but it was entertaining. Like most, I was hoping for a more thrilling and substantial ending to the Laurie/Michael saga after all these years and iterations. I was just as puzzled as everyone else that what seemed like a subplot at first ended up being the bulk of the movie. Still, it was fun and the kills were good with plenty of easter eggs thrown in for good measure. Not exactly the conclusion I had envisioned, but probably more interesting than the played out "Indestructible Michael keeps trying to get to Laurie and kills everything in his way" storyline that all of us were expecting and would have added zero to the franchise. David and Danny tried their best to give us something new for once with this trilogy.

Glad to see I'm not the only Last Drive-In fan on GAF.

Watched Halloween Kills last night and it was utter shite. Nearly a comedy film. The mob chase/suicide scene was funny, as was the light tube through the throat and her husband screaming when he saw MM in the bathroom. 0 suspense or horror compared to the original.

I too enjoyed this. But I hated the ending, and how it ignored what they could’ve done with the series. Like instead what we got, we could’ve gotten one final twist with Allyson turning on Laurie, and cementing the serial killer couple by bumping the two leads of the franchise(Michael & Laurie).

But then again maybe this was the point ultimately. The Corey & Allyson stuff was kinda a horror take on Romeo & Juliet. You can say Corey was like Michael’s adopted kid, and same goes with Allyson, and Laurie. Then again, if that’s the point, then go all the way with it to hammer it home.

I love how that movie is filmed. Michael is so over the top but I was all about it. And the lighting on his mask, absolute god-tier.

I wish more people could just enjoy that movie for what it is, it's just a violent slasher film with great Halloween season vibes. I thought the "Evil Dies Tonight" was a bit of dogpiling, they aren't yelling it in the entirety of the film, just a few scenes and yea, not all the hospital stuff works but the moody scenes are a masterclass in how to film Michael Myers. That's the main reason I like it so much, it's just an absolutely gorgeous film for me.

I just feel like Laurie dragged the whole trilogy down and caused so much focus to be on her recovery and PTSD. Clearly that's the obvious route to take since she's the OG final girl and JLC is a draw as Laurie but I consistently liked her less in each film. I really enjoyed the Alison/Cory progression and was totally up for some Bonnie and Clyde action. The final confrontation was so insanely weak though. It was just dumb. I was really hoping to at least see Laurie die too but it is what it is. I'll probably watch it again with the wife, she hated Kills and I think she might like Ends.

Sorry man. Wasn’t trying to dunk on it too much. I think for me the suspense, use of music and silence in the original Halloween just made it something else and it was a shame that they abandoned that with Kills. Also I thought some of it was just bad writing full stop, e.g the guy trying to throttle MM from behind in the car and then the woman running at him from the playpark popping off Deagle rounds from 50m away. Or when the gay guy who’s partner was brutally slain just said ‘you’re home Micheal’ instead of running out of the house. Personally it just didn’t do much for me, but that doesn’t mean there’s not good elements to the film or that others can’t enjoy it :messenger_horns: I’ll still watch Ends when I can too.

Ha, nah you're good. My post wasn't so much meant at you, just in general. The movie has some of the dumbest decisions ever made by victims in a slasher but yea, I always go back to how the movie looks during the dark scenes. It's just so damn gorgeous to me, lol.

Well. You're certainly entitled to your own opinion but that movie fucking sucked.

Not only was Corey completely unnecessary, he was probably one of the worst actors I've had the sadness to watch.

The worst was that fucking comedic bit with those two. Kills couldn't find it's fucking own identity if it were facing a mirror.

I really enjoyed it. The intro was amazing. The Corey buildup plotline was interesting and acted very well. Great kills. Lots of foreshadowing and symbolic shots. Better than kills. On par or a little less good at 2018, whatever year this new trilogy started.

ok ok, we can not forget that this is a Halloween movie... people seems to think a Halloween movie needs to be the pinnacle of acting and writing.
I liked the concept, it was a bit wonky and the ending was a bit weird, but I liked it.

Exactly.

I shit on the bulk of the series but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy them for what they are. People approach Halloween like the series has been this masterclass in horror, it isn't.

For whoever has strong issues with Kills and Ends, I strongly encourage you to go back and watch all the films if you aren't overly familiar with them (zombie films not necessary to watch). They aren't good save for 4 and H2O :messenger_face_screaming: and that's about it. The rest are honestly pretty boring. I'd also say that Resurrection is infinitely more watchable than 2, 5, 6. Doesn't mean it's good, but it's entertaining for what it is.

Was it a Halloween movie though? I mean sure, it was titled as such and had Jamie Lee Curtis in it. And Michael was allegedly on the screen for a couple more minutes than he was in part 3. But then he got beat in hand to hand combat by an old lady. Tough to accept that was actually Michael.

History is kind to sequels that go for something different, and this will be no exception. Initially the reviews are low but over time people warm up to it. This very same franchise has one, Season of the Witch and people these days love it. No doubt it was shat on upon release for not being a good "Halloween Movie"

Too many logical inconsistencies, fails to provide what fans truly wanted to see, and the whole incident with Corey? Fucking terrible. Insulting really.

Laurie putting the hurt on Michael should not be an issue. She’s done it before, and she also wasn’t even fighting Michael unarmed. It’s not like she beat him in an arm wrestling match, she stabbed the shit out of him. And even then Alyson had to save her at the end.

Corey straight up wrestling Michael for his mask and winning? Now THAT’S dumb. This kid was getting pushed around by some band geeks days ago, hell we already saw Michael have him at his mercy earlier. If he had suddenly knocked Michael in the head with a lead pipe or something and used Michael’s brief moment to recover to then grab the mask off him quickly and run like hell, I could buy that. But no, Corey straight up just tackles him. There’s no reason Michael shouldn’t have been able to overpower him with such a reckless attack.
