I may have just lost a goddamn eye

My daughter is 21 months old and this almost happened to me a couple of times. Little bugger has much stronger hands than she looks.

Hope you’re okay.

Eyes are more resilient than one would think, hope its ok keep us updated.
I've been told the same thing by an ophthalmologist I had accidentally lunch with once.

Eyes are resilient motherfuckers. So there's a good chance the doc will take a look at it and be able to help you out, OP

Playing peekaboo with my daughter when she jams her finger and sharp nail directly into my eyeball. It hurts so fucking bad I can’t even put it into words.

Oh I know, I bent down to pick my keys off a shelf and by random chance the corner off some plastic vacuum formed package was just sticking out on the shelf above it. Got me right in the eye, it was a few days but I fully recovered without a trip to the doctors.

Last night im chilling in bed with my wife and 1.5 year old daughter. Playing peekaboo with my daughter when she jams her finger and sharp nail directly into my eyeball. It hurts so fucking bad I can’t even put it into words. I somehow went to sleep hoping it would feel better in the morning and go to work but it’s now way worse. All swollen and I can’t see at all out of it. In the ER right now waiting for the doctor. Goddamn this sucks.

Every strong as fuck GAFman 💪🏻 checks dangerous shit one day later than he should. 😤

Once I was bitten in the ankle while cutting grass in the summer. Could have been a scorpion, could have been a snake, could have been a scorpion riding a snake, who cares. I think it was a snake because I saw something moving in the tall dry yellow grass.

Well, it didn't exactly hurt, more like a low itch and the kind of dull pain when u hit something not hard, so I didn't care that much. And in fact, it went less and less itchy and less dull.

It blew up, literally.

One day and a half later, at 2:00AM, I'm telling my bro to take me to the ER to check my ankle, mainly because I'm losing feeling in it and I can't use the clutch very well in that state.

I get there and the usual medical front desk dumbo is there to check you in, probably half to three quarters to deep sleep. I wake him up and I explain what, when and how, and he asks me if it's painful, and I said no.

Next thing, the man says in an uppity tone:

'If it isn't painful, why did you come here?' 😒

I then proceed to slam my leg and my ankle the size of a handball on the desk and ask him in a strong tone of voice:

'Do you think THIS not being painful at all IT'S FUCKING NORMAL?!?!?!?' 🤨

He took a look and next thing he's coming out to grab a wheelchair, sit me and checking me in. Two young girls at the general ER that night, one Doctor and the other girls is a Nurse and I know her.

She asks me what's up and I show her, she goes

WTF did you do!!! 😱😱😱

It wasn't me I swear, it was the snake!!! 😱😱😱

So after a bit of checking, the Doctor says here, and pokes me with Methylprednisolone and that's that. It goes flat during that night and next morning i just have a bit of rubbery skin in thay spot, and descaling during years in the ankle. Like real scale flakes forming and coming down. I think that mutated snake 🐍 wanted me to become part of hiSsSs Clan. 😄
On the other hand. It could have some thing that killed you in few hours if not less.

Strong GAF man or not. If something bite you and you think it's a spider or a snake. Lol go check it out.

Besides who told you I am a strong GAF man ? I run from a lady bug if I see it flying towards me.

First of all thanks for the kind words bros. I appreciate you.

Update: ER doctor put some dyed eye drops in my eye and looked at in under some kind of UV light. Said and I quote “this is bad”. Never something you wanna hear from a doctor. She recommends me to a specialist and gives me a cool guy eye patch. I immediately take an uber to the specialist and wait there like 3 hours in excruciating pain. He has me read a chart with my right eye and says I have 20/20 vision. Great. Now he says use my left. I’m like dude I can’t see anything at all. He puts my head in some apparatus and opens my eye manually to look at the damage. He said it’s a really deep cut, but it should heal. He puts some kind of numbing agent eye drop in and seconds later I can open my eye again. His plan is to ditch the eye patch and he put on a bandage contact lens. He said the reason it hurt to open my eye was because blinking was irritating the cut, which makes sense. The lens acts like a buffer between my eyelid and the lens. Now I can keep my eye open but I’m over here lookin fuckin crazy. My eye is completely red and all swollen. I look like a maniac. He said to leave the contact in until next Monday when he’ll reevaluate me, but the prognosis is good and he said I should get my vision back 100% or close to it. I can already see out of it again but it’s blurry as fuck. When I have both eyes open my vision is fucked. I have to drive every day so it’s gonna be a challenge.

TLDR - I should be fine

Good to hear, take care of it!

Glad you're okay OP, had something similar happen in college during a basketball game and had to wear an eye patch for 2 weeks while putting some form of 'polysporin for your eyes'. Eye sight got back to normal after that. Your story triggered those pains again reading it LOL Glad you're okay to laugh about it like I am now.

Human eyes are quite tough
Your swelling is likely a protective reaction. Take ibuprofen and give it a few days.. antibiotics may be advised

Glad to hear you’re gonna be ok. I had one of those “bandage” contacts after I got LASIK and spent all night in extreme discomfort with one eye. As soon as they gave me that it was fine

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
This happened to my blind dog, sister in law’s cat sliced her eye open. Was like a flap coming off. They put some dye in and could really see the cut had some ointment and had to wear a cone for 2 weeks to let it heal.

Good luck op, sure it will heal fine.

Glad you'll be fine.

The moral of this story is playing peekaboo can potentially cause blindness.

kittoo

Cretinously credulous
I am recovering from a vitrectomy (look it up on youtube, its ghastly lol) and so am really sensitive about eye stuff. Could relate to that.
On the other hand, if eyes can recover from needles being pushed in the eye (thats what happens in a vitrectomy), I am sure they can recover from a nail poke too.
All the best!

Did you type this with one eye?

I dont think youll need a glass eye. Would you rock an eye patch if it comes to it?

Can you lose eyesight that easily? Maybe youll have permanent reduced vision out of it.

At least youll have the other eye still.

Good luck.

To give you some hope, the 18 year old son of a collegue of mine from work slashed his cornea with a piece of paper while he was flailing it around, couldn't see shit and blood was everywhere(from what his dad said) and in the end after the doctors fixed him up and he had to wear bandages he healed up completely,so you might still be alright, eyes are more resilient than you might think.

Wish you all the best! Speedy recovery! 👍

I'm glad you're okay, but son of a bitch! My two year old boy thinks it's the most hilariously shit ever to try and stick his thumbs in my eyes when he's playing with me. This is like my nightmare scenario being played out in another dudes life.

Hope for a speedy recovery!

Nice to hear you will be okay. Recently a drop of hot oil fell on my eyelid when I was cooking. My eyelid got fucked but it saved me. I always use glasses while cooking now. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I taught a girl once who was 3 and bipolar that tried stuff like that. Always had to be vigilant. Wasn't just eyes either, nose and ears too

Also you should tell your daughter the tale of how she almost blinded you. But seriously sounds like she can handle herself.

Glad you’re okay. I’ve scratched my eye a couple times just from rubbing them in the morning. It stung, but some medicated drops healed them up.

A deep cut has gotta suck.
