Got a question here. What's the diff between the ripjaw and the eco ram? I read that it's 1.35v for the eco, 1.5v for the ripjaw, so what does that mean in the practical sense? The difference between all of these is only 10 bucks (CDN prices).[/QUOTE]

I also see this for the same price, is that better or worse than the 1333? Timings are 7-8-7-24 as opposed to 7-7-7-21.

G.SKILL ECO Series DDR3 1600MHz (PC3-12800) 4GB (2x2GB) Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO)

No.

Just a more serious competition for the HD5830. Overclocked comes close but 5850 also overclocks, right?
460 is also $50 cheaper though. I have a non-reference 5850 so I doubt I can get to 5870 performance

I really hope benchmarks on big name sites get posted at midnight EST. Then I can stop freaking out. If I return, I want to do it ASAP so I don't have to deal with bullshit prices(ala 8800gt)

Im backing out on an SSD for now until I see more reviews of the Crucial 64GB. I think that should be enough for the OS, FFXIV, and some other programs. I need to stop being so impatient and just wait it out and make sure i get my moneys worth.

I think I will be picking up the MSI 460GTX
Voltage adjustment and cooler is selling me.

Is FF14 a beast or something?

I've seen it mentioned numerous times now in this thread.

where you find this at? has NDA lifted yet?

Fucking Guru3D didn't compare it to any other product :\

The HSF in this image and the one that Hazaro posted looks like a Xigmatek. Maybe some off-shoot of the HDT-S1283? I know that Scythe also has a new full copper HSF that they've been showing. I'd love to see some reviews on these.

Still torn... I can afford the 5850 but the 460 is making a good case... I imagine these prices will either shoot up or stock will disappear soon with such great reviews... what to do.,..

Like me... Buy now and know you have 30 days to return it if you need to. :)

Hardwarecanucks shows that the 460 is better value, and it wins when overclocked. $50 less in most cases. Calling Newegg as soon as they open. I'm hoping they will give me free shipping on the return, but if not, I still save $40ish. I will also order first thing in the morning after they accept the return and I get a confirmation that there is no restocking fee :D

Haha yeah, should have just bought it this afternoon and not waited till midnight to read reviews. Funny how leaked reviews were pretty much all accurate this time around. Of course the chinese forum where he did the 900 overclock must have been lucky with the board(s) he got.

Anyway i'm ordering the Palit 1GB, too bad the MSI 1GB isn't on newegg. What other sites are good aside from newegg for speedy delivery?

I was gonna get the Gigabyte 1GB model(tehehe), but its $10 more. I hope Palit's 2 year warranty suits me fine. Newegg better have these in stock at 8am est(Basically when they open)

The MSI model is the 768mb/192bit model though.
There's supposedly a 1GB version coming soon.

I've been waiting for a solid $200 card, and while it's tempting, I think I'll hold on and see how things shake out. It'd be great if the GTX 460 can bring down prices on cards from both brands (5850, 5830, 5770, GTX 260). I may be hoping for too much, though.

I was thinking about getting that too since Palit has a higher end $250 model with a higher stock OC. This usually means that they cherry pick the good OC chips for their sonic platinum edition while the ones that don't OC as well are the normal sonic editions.

I can't wait! Last desktop Nvidia card I had was also a Palit, 6600gt waaay back.

so they aren't a bad brand?
And Nvidia has stated that all cards should push 800 easily on core with air cooling
And it runs a lot cooler than my 5850

Is this beating a stock 5850 or OC 5850 as well?

Someone sell me on Palit. Never heard of the brand, would much rather have evga. Of course evga isn't selling yet, so I can't get evga.

Btw, did XFX stop making Nvidia products?

I am really tempted to buy the GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 460 1GB card. I have an 8800 GT right now that is really starting to show its age.

So we got the GTS 250 at 100$, the 5770 at 150$, the GTX 460 at 200$, and then the 5850 and 5870 at their price points as the best in classes? We'll see how the 460 affects other prices.

Newegg is being a pain about shipping though :(
Would really love to get one of these cards, but the $10 less Palit card is more appealing imo

Didn't you just buy a 5850?

Gonna return it

I might even just return it and keep the money. I definitely do not play enough games to need an upgrade from a GTS 250 I think. I kinda regret the 5850 purchase to begin with. Glad I'm within 30 days.

I've seen it mentioned numerous times now in this thread.

The FFXIV benchmark has been giving people with great setups middling scores, although it has been found that the actual program itself is not taking into account certain factors like SLI/Crossfire and full windowed resolution among other things.

In my opinion it is graphically the best looking MMO out there at the moment, and it has forced many to up their game, myself included.

I'm hoping to build a gaming PC near the end of August, so it would be awesome if prices on some of the higher end cards went down.

I haven't been keeping track of prices so maybe they were already this low and I just wasn't aware, but there's currently several GTX 470 models at $329 and lower on Newegg. Didn't that card used to be $400? Are prices already lowering due to the 460 or have they been lowering for awhile?

I don't know if I should go 1gb or 768mb if I do decide to get one. I only play at 1360x768
Plan to upgrade? 24" LCD is pretty darn cheap. 1GB is the one to get for most.

Cheers. Been trying to keep up with reviews in the forum threads. I got all those links to then find you already pasted them.

I'm wary of benchmark reviews. I remember when they first started on the scene and a few of their reviews were 'off'.

So I'm guessing it'll be much better to get a GTX 460 than a 5770 now? Is there going to be a huge difference between a 768mb 460 and a 1gb 5770?

Really? I don't think I've ever really paid BR much attention, but I'll keep that in mind.

Between all the English and foreign language forums and review sites posting 460 stuff, it's way too much to keep up with. Now I'm wired from all the pics and info.

I'm finished reading!
Tabbed through [H], canucks, hexus, guru3D, TechPowerUp, and 2 others?

I'm burn out. Oddly enough even though everything is super positive I'm unsure if I will nab one right now.

The few things bothering me are:
Which cards have voltage regulation enabled? (MSI Afterburner)
Possible rebates or game incentives if ATi plays hardball in a week
Possible refresh later on to a GTX460+ where they enable a few more cores

On the other hand prices might go up as they did with the 8800GT after launch :lol

For sure the 460 is the card to buy. 768MB holds up for now in 1920x1080, but the 1GB isn't that much more and both are very goof buys. Also the OC potential is crazy good. Combine that with good power use, quiet, and cool and its a winner in every area.
It also supports HDMI 1.3a and surround sound via HDMI.

Well, does ATI have that much room? How far can they drop the price on the 5850 without encroaching on 5830? How far can they drop the 5830 without encroaching on the 5770 and so on. Nvidia lucked out by being late to the generation, because they can dictate the mainstream range
Price increase is the main reason why I want to order asap

I don't know. I really can't reccomend the 760MB version when the 1GB version OC better and has a much bigger memory bandwidth and is only around $20 more. TBH now is the time to get these cards as ATI won't be dropping the 5850 by $70 anytime soon and we will probably have an 8800GT situation where prices sky rocket and stay there for months.

I read through at least 7 reviews (3 of them included both 768 and 1GB) and they clock the same.
Also the prices are $200 and $230 respectively.

A 768MB is more than enough for a 720p TV.

I'm thinking I'll probably nab a 1GB when they pop up on Amazon. Only 768MB there right now.

Currently sitting on the following

Gigabyte DS3P
Q6600 @ stock 2.4
6GB DDR2
4870X2
30" HP LCD

PC had some issues on the weekend, kept throwing up "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER," so I pulled all the HDD cables out and put them back in again. It work for another day then it randomly froze and I can't boot. It starts up, 5 seconds later shuts down without even showing the manufacturer screen. From there it just loops rebooting till I power it down =[

Gonna pull it apart tonight, clean it and put it back together. If that fails I've actually been looking to upgrade for the last 6 months or so. I'll get my tax return back in the next couple of weeks so looking at getting the following

Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3P
Intel Core i7 860 2.80GHz
Corsair 1600C9 2x2GB DDR3-12800 RAM
Noctua NH-C12P-SE14 CPU Cooler

I'll keep the 4870X2 cause it's still a bloody powerful card and I may just wait for the ATI 6xxx series to come around before I upgrade my graphics card again. Also I'm going to OC my CPU to 4.0GHz and I've been told that will help the graphics card out a bit too. Anyone running similar with a 4870X2?
