Hey guys, built my new pc and everything was going great but after installing nvidia drivers it started taking really long to load during windows bootup, like 3 minutes, even though it's on an SSD. I actually thought it was freezing.
I can't work out what the problem is. System is:
Intel BX80646I54670 Core i5-4670 3.4GHz 6MB LGA1150 Haswell Boxed CPU
Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H Intel Z87 S1150/4xDDR3/6xPCI-E/ SATA3/USB3.0/HDMI/DVI-D/DP/GBLAN/RAID/ATX MB
G.Skill Ripjaws-X 8G Kit(4Gx2) DDR3 2133 F3-17000CL11D- 8GBXL
Sandisk Ultra Plus SSD SDSSDHP-256G-Q25 256G SAT A3 SSD
WD 3.5" Black 1TB WD1002FAEX SATA3 7200rpm HDD
Gigabyte N770OC-4GD 4G GTX 770 PCI-E VGA Card
P.S. Don't laugh, I'm pretty new to this, but when my friend was in the bios, I noticed the clock in there was 2 hours behind, so he changed it to the real time and the problem started about the same time. Any chance that could have effected it?
Ctrl + Alt + Del. You've probably done it hundreds of times over the years you've been using computers. But did you know that Bill Gates never wanted that sequence to exist in the first place? Apparently, Gates wanted the function of Ctrl + Alt + Delete to be taken care of with a single button. Unfortunately, IBM's keyboard design didn't allow for it.
Potentially dumb question: is your copy of windows legit?

Eugh, I think my GPU is taking the long ride into the sunset. Was playing Max Payne 3 earlier and after about 2 hours of play the screen locked up with artifacts for about 6-8 seconds, then promptly booted my ass back to the desktop with a "the display driver has stopped working" error message. Thoughts, PCgaf? The card (5870) is over 4 years old now and the 9000 series (or whatever they're calling it) is coming up pretty fast, so if I guess if I *had* to upgrade now wouldn't be the worst time imaginable, but I'd rather wait off a bit 'till the 9000 series dips a bit in price if I could.
Any and all responses will be much appreciated.
EDIT: Might be worth mentioning I'm on the newest Beta drivers, lol...
i'd try non beta drivers
also, at some point, with older cards its better to stop upgrading drivers as they just arent designed for your card anymore and do more harm then good. my card prior to my 5770 was like that. I would run out and get the latest drivers, only to mess everything up and have to revert
If your computer is on, the PSU is recognised.Quick, easy question.
Just installed my new PSU. How can I check to see that my computer actually recognizes the new one? Is there some type of "system info" in the Control Panel where it lists the GPU, PSU, etc.? It's running perfectly, but I'm just curious.
Thanks, new to Windows and Windows 8.
According to the manufacturer's site, the 7950 has a DVI to VGA adapter, so I should be good http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&lid=1&pid=1439&leg=0 I may want to get a second screen when I have some more cash

The non-Gaming version doesn't have SLI/Crossfire support, which is probably the big difference.What's the difference between the MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming and non gaming?
The only thing I can see is the OC Genie button missing?

Got an ASUS 7970 for $260 after tax. Yaaaaaaaaaay
Finally got my PC running right, and it is AMAZING! Seriously, I've never owned a gaming PC before and seeing every maxed at 60 fps is wild. I am in need of a monitor though, and Im curious about one thing. What is a good contrast ratio? After getting a laptop that always looked washed out I've been very cautious of the color my monitors can produce

I'm going to put:
* Cooler Master Seidon 120M (1 fan)
* Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI
* XFX 550W PRO550W Core Edition
* My current HD 7750 (still waiting to upgrade)
* Crucial M500 120GB SSD
* Intel Core i5-3570K
* HyperX 8GB 1600MHz DDR3
* WD Blue 1 TB
I still need money for the CPU so that's why i haven't finished it. # Minimum wage problems
Let me know how that works out, I'm putting roughly the same amount of stuff in there, although I guess you have no optical drive? One thing that seems like it might be challenging (for me at least) is the mechanical HDD - I think we're going to have to remove the drive cage to get the radiator for the AIO liquid cooler to fit in the front, so I think the HDD will have to go on the side drive cage, which Cooler Master also removed in their demo video. There seems to be a spot under the optical bay for an SSD, so that's where I was planning to stash that...
Yes. RMA.
RMA it. Infrequent memory errors are the worst. I had RAM at work that would fail every 4-8 hours. I much prefer instant blobs of errors.
I don't know where to place this, I can't make a thread in OT so I am going to post this here. If it is not supposed to be here, just tell me so, and I will redact my post with the quickness. Also forgive me if that is the case. Well onto my question...
I forgot that I had a EVGA Classified x58 SLI-4 motherboard. I bought this motherboard a few years ago, and the day I got it was the day my dog died so I tucked it away cause it brought up sad memories. But now that I stumbled upon it, I am wondering what should I do with it. Should I sell it, or should I build a PC out of it? If I should build a PC, what would you fellows recommend? Before I had planned to build my first PC using this board, but I stopped cause of you know why.
Do you want to use it? Sure, it will be older technology, but used i7 920s are cheap and are still pretty good processors.I don't know where to place this, I can't make a thread in OT so I am going to post this here. I'm gonna guess this will run decently on PC and not the usual Ubisoft port. Black List ran great and Watch Dogs is another game where they are partnered with Nvidia to make the game run better on PC. As long as the settings are not SSAA I don't see anything special about it that won't allow you to keep 60.So with the disappointing news on the console version of Watch Dogs, what kind of fps should I see at 1080p on max settings with a 2600k oced to 4.4ghz and a evga gtx 670 ftw. I'm hoping at least 60fps.
We won't know until it is released but you have a pretty solid setup so you should be fine.So with the disappointing news on the console version of Watch Dogs, what kind of fps should I see at 1080p on max settings with a 2600k oced to 4.4ghz and a evga gtx 670 ftw? I'm hoping for at least 60fps.
Does anyone know if it's safe to order a monitor+speakers at amazon.co.uk?
I'm mainly worried about the power cord. I live in Belgium and we use different plugs than the UK.
What do you mean? I guess it depends on the seller's feedback score if that's what you're talking about.

I see. I'm not familiar with the process, how long does it usually take?
I noticed people talking about Reddit Windows 8 keys here yesterday. Did anyone buy one? Recommend a seller?
Lets say I have a gtx 560 now and plan on getting a R9 290X. Can I use the radeon for graphics and the geforce for physx?
If so, would I just:
1. Leave the nvidia graphics + physx drivers installed or only the physx drivers?
2. Then just slide the geforce down to pci-e slot 2 and put the radeon in pci-e slot 1 & install amd drivers as normal?
Are there any issues such as compatibility?

If you live in Greece I have no idea. You'd look up EU return centers and probably just try and get a return from where you bought it if possible rather than the maker of the part.I see. I'm not familiar with the process, how long does it usually take?
