The ones at monoprice are decentMy bad, I must have meant switcher.
I only have one HDMI port on my monitor and want to be able to switch between my PS3 and PC.

Tony Tamasi from Nvidia said:If you think about the GTX 750 or the Maxwell architecture, and how much performance that delivers in that power budget, and then you just kind of let your mind wander into the future for, you know, bigger versions of something like that, it's exciting."

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Processor/GPU for video editing?
Going to be starting my own website soon - it's a bit of a gamble but I think I can earn money from it... (I think - will take me a year or two to find out)
And I'll be needing to edit upwards of 200+ videos and leaving several flash programs on loop while recording.
Yes - sounds a lot - but over time....!
Currently have i5 4670k oc'ed & GTX 770 Graphics card
Wondering if it's worthwhile having a separate PC for this
Your PC is more than powerful enough. If the video editing software you're using takes advantage of GPU acceleration in some way, even better!
I bought this yesterday for 80$

Pentium G3258 + GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H LGA1150
can anyone recommend me a good CPU cooler and PSU for this build (HTPC)?
Have you chosen a case? Will you be adding a dGPU?
Hmm I'd go for a gsync monitor at this point, considering you already have a Nvidia card. I don't have gsync monitor myself so I can't really recommend one.So I've been trying to figure out what to do in terms of a computer monitor, not entirely sure I should spring a bunch of money on one (I'd love to get the new ROG Swift, but really don't want to shell out $800), or just go nice an cheap and convenient. I've been looking at the following two options thus far:
Should I go with this, which I can get currently for $135
or, should I dish out some more in order to get this?
My graphics card is a GTX 780 FYI
Or is there a better quality/more efficient moniter in the price ranges I'm going for?

That's true, I somehow thought there was a 350 something Gsync monitor out there, but there isn't. >_>Any gsync monitor or one compatible with the DIY kit is going to push him over $500.
Stock cooler that comes with the cpu since you can't overclock on that board. Pick a psu from the op in your price rangeI bought this yesterday for 80$

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FP4MWUW/?tag=neogaf0e-20I know this thread is geared towards gaming PCs, but I am looking for the cheapest budget PC that will only primarily be used for Office, namely Excel. Whatever can make it run fast but also able to calculate complex workbooks without bogging the computer down.
I attempted to assemble a list of parts, tried getting a Mobo/CPU combo and it brought the entire price of the build shy $150. Although with something that cheap I have to wonder how long it will last.
At this point I'm like fuck it just get a Dell pre-built, but how much RAM do you think is needed? I've read 4GB is plenty but make sure the CPU is atleast 2.2GHz? Would Excel really utilize 4 cores, seems crazy to me.
In short just need the cheapest PC for basic web browsing and intensive Excel use.
You could remove the CPU and put it in a new motherboard/case for something SFF. To really get more power out of it though, all those applications are very CPU-oriented, so you'd likely need to get a new CPU in order to see improvements.
Let me know either way and I can start to give you a basic rundown of what you'll need.
You didn't mention what gpu it hasI suspected as much since this won't be a gaming PC. Would I need a stronger GPU to go with it or is my current one fine?

Thanks buddy that looks really nice. With the RAM and SSD suggested by Amazon and an OS I'm looking at 500 dollars.
I'd buy a G-Sync monitor...if they actually had enough options and more affordable.

i cant OC on that board? T_T
Should I return it ? someone on slickdeals said u can OC it to 1.20 volt or 4.2 GHz
Hi there guys. I'm putting together a machine to do 3d rendering and After Effects for a friend's music video for the next couple of months, but I can't bring myself to purchase a PC that I won't be able to use for gaming after that. So I came up with this:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2CYsVn
(first thing you may notice is that there is GPU, well I'm waiting for that at the moment, plus the program he uses has not GPU rendering)
I've never built with the i7 39xx or i7 49xx end of Intel CPUs so I would appreciate if someone could point out some obvious red flags, if they are there.
Wait until tomorrow, brand new 2011 CPUs coming from Intel with Haswell-E.
WAIT!
http://thepcenthusiast.com/intel-haswell-e-release-date-revealed/
You'll also need a GPU as iirc LGA 2011 has no iGPU.
Tomorrow? Holy shit, at this timing. Thanks
Holy crap, I must have misread your post. I was thinking you were saying you could get mobo/proc combos for $200. Ignore my post if you can get a prebuilt for that kind of cash. Just about anything will be able to do browsing and video playback. Thanks buddy that looks really nice. With the RAM and SSD suggested by Amazon and an OS I'm looking at 500 dollars.
Any reason why I should avoid buying a 200 dollar pre built system from Dell? Just curious if that has more to do with processing power or what kind of chip.
So were you wanting to build a whole machine? Keep the proc?Ah, missed that, I believe its AMD Radeon HD 7570
It will come down in price eventually.
Then the gaming world will see true power.

what am i looking at on the second link ?
Counter to what Smokey is saying, I don't think we're likely to see a substantial decrease in price, especially looking at 1440p or larger panels. This is why I'm thinking of going with a cheap 1080p 60hz monitor for now, and just waiting it out...
