I never looked into it. Didn't have a use really for front panel USB 3.0, and after a day of troubleshooting, I was just happy to have it working.Dumb question, why does it do that?

Mkenyon hand me downs are the best hand me downs
Trying to mount a 420mm rad with fans above it by yourself is pretty damn hard... Two hands are not enough.
Do you think I absolutely have to go from case to radiator with a longer screw? My life would be much easier if I could go radiator->fans and fans->case. Worried about the plastic not being able to support the weight, though.
Maybe not the the best place to ask this question but real quickly which one of these mechanical keyboards should I buy? http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00HZE2PJS/?tag=pcp0f-20 or http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00AOIRCI6/?tag=pcp0f-20
I've had a chance to play around with my new(to me) build.
Thanks to Mkenyon's amazingly charitable prices I have the following build.
I OC'd the 2500K to a super stable 4.5GHz
The ROG Matrix 7970 is solid a 1.2GHz

How does this look for the SSD?
What's the best X99 board, now that they are out?
I'm eyeing the MSI X99S SLI PLUS purely because of the aesthetics(love me some all black board since my case will have a window)
When it is on that screen try pressing Tab and see if it gives you any more info. There shouldn't be anything stopping it from working, there was an existing card that you took out first right? My post from the support thread, in case anyone here can help...
Well, I got my GTX 750 Ti 2GB in the mail today, but once I installed it and turned on my computer, it just hangs on the blue HP pre-boot screen. I think getting ANY image on screen eliminates the possibility of the card not being installed in the PCI slot correctly, or HDMI cable or port issues at either end.
These are my specs

This is the card

I tried updating the motherboard bios and deleting my old videocard drivers, but the computer still wont boot when the new GTX is installed.
I wonder if it has something to do with the small power supply I have in the computer? Its only 300W, but it says thats all the card needs on its system requirements.
Is it possible HP have put a system in place to stop people upgrading parts? Kinda like how they dont like people using 3rd party ink cartridges on their printers. Maybe I just got a faulty card? I'd have to be pretty unlucky for that to happen I'd imagine.
I sent an email to the online retailer, so if no one here has any suggestions, I hope they can help me.

Try resetting the bios. Pull the battery, unplug the computer from the wall and press the power button. Wait about 30 seconds, plug it all back in and try againI just tried that, but unfortunately pressing tab doesnt make a difference. And yeah, I took out my 520GT beforehand. The fan on that 520 will frequently buzz like a bees nest since I put it back in the tower. Weird.
The blue HP screen also actually says ""press esc to access startup menu", but pressing esc doesnt do anything either.
Maybe I was just really unlucky and got a faulty card.

No risk. It will make the computer forget its settings and recalibrate itself on boot (your os is untouched, don't worry)Ok just so I have this straight (my computer knowledge is very limited). You want me to pull the battery off the motherboard (before I unplug it)?
I can see a battery on there, about the size of a Coke bottle top. Is there any risk to the computer by removing that battery?
Awesome!I've had a chance to play around with my new(to me) build.
But you receive your nVidia money hats on the 18th since it's #GAME24My new parts (to put in the new case I got a few days ago) arrived:

Now I have everything, except time to build it (before Thursday). I actually took a few days off starting from the 18th to build and enjoy my new PC, but everything arrived more quickly than I thought it would.

Macho is a great HS, but availability is utter trash. It's supposed to be cheaper than others as well for the cooling too. Had it as a HS candidate but you can hardly buy it anywhere common last I checked.Macho 120? Never heard of that HSF but it looks pretty beastly just based on the picture haha.
Corsair GS PSU for workstation class components? I'm surprised that nobody said anything about it yet...

This seems as good a place as any to ask...
Thoughts on the Sony W706 32" TV as a gaming monitor for both PC & console?
Possibly thinking of sticking my U2711 on the 'Bay or similar to part fund it.
It might just be late but I ordered a really nice Ultrasharp from Dell a few weeks back. According to Purolator, It's arriving tomorrow or Thursday and I have still yet to be charged on my credit card.
Dare I say it...is it possible that I am getting a free $400 monitor?
Anyways, this is my completed build. I got the CPU/Mobo as a part of a bundle deal that came out to $421 after taxes plus shipping insurance so I just split the cost into two ($210) each. I have 12 gigs of DDR3 RAM that will be reused, 3TB worth of hard drive space for storage. I will also be holding onto my Radeon HD6950 for as long as possible (basically until Witcher 3 comes out) to before buying a new GPU. Right now, there are no graphically intensive games that interest me enough to upgrade to the new Maxwell line of GPUs. Tell me what you guys think.

Awesome!
Glad those parts are getting some solid use. Sk3tch would be proud his Matrix is still going strong.
Yeah, it's extremely easy to find. Almost every decent shop has it in stock.I think it's a bit easier to find in Euroland.
The selection of <=15cm depth PSUs with both modular cabling and decent efficiency is extremely limited. I'll just hope it works out. I mean, 650W should be roughly twice what my system uses, so it's wildly overprovisioned.Corsair CS PSU for workstation class components? I'm surprised that nobody said anything about it yet...
He's around:What happened to Sk3tch? I always used to lurk this thread, and he was one of those guys with awesome builds. I've been trying to remember his user name for the last week.
Not great. The motherboard may have issues with delivering reliable power to the CPU. 8350 is a power hog. You are also missing a PSU.How is this build just for like mid range gaming, keep in mind my main game will be nba 2k15 with mods

I'd advise sticking somewhat close to the guide in the OP. My personal suggestion for entry level specs:

Silverstone Strider series, Coolermaster VSM series.
The Corsair CS/CX has a somewhat iffy DOA rate, and is something that is better suited for a really lower power workstation build. I'm sure it will probably be fine, but I've seen PSU stuff go horribly wrong too many times to trust it personally.
The 280 is pretty much a 7950 with a different sticker. I'm not sure you'll see DifferenceI wonder if someone could give me their thoughts:
I had a Powercolor HD7870 Myst edition, which was a pretty unique variant. It performed closer to a 7950. It went bust and Powercolor is offering to replace it with a TurboDuo R9 280.
It looks like I obviously gain 1GB, but it also appears I lose a smidge in the GPU clock and I lose about 250mhz in the memory clock.
Any thoughts? Should I try to push for a refund instead?
Depends on the mod and the engine. VRAM on the video card is a big one though.Well the cpu was an upgrade off another build lost I seen and I said what the hell might as well get a higher price cpu since I dropped the optical drive from the build
The Intel processor you got good enough for 2k at medium settings
AAnd also when it come to mods, what do they effect? I mean do mods take up more processor power or is it more storage on the hard drive???
