Not great of the super technical side of things but if you are just gaming and have decent cooling that CPU is kickass.
Just my 2 cents you really get more use out of AMD if doing more workload stuff.
If I am wrong someone please correct my very limited knowledge on the subject

My friend bought a 10900 non-k and he had to change schools. But, he was laughing because he actually had a processor to look at and admire, while all the bullies had no CPU to go with their absent GPU.

I re-greased a gtx 770, things are getting desperate.
I hope intel enters the market. This is an opportunity for them surely. Doesn't need to be high end, just something appropriately priced.

I need some advice, i'm looking to upgrade my CPU since it's old AF already (i7-6700k), it does the job but it's holding my VGA back (3070) and since i'm working from home i'm spending way more time on my desktop and some tasks get laggy.
Anyway, i need between 5 to 6 video outputs, one has to be a DVI. In my current setup i solved this using the integrated GPU but if i go with a Ryzen 9 5900 or something similar, they have no integrated GPUs ... I could go with an I9 11something but i'm seeing those only get up to like 8 or 10 cores...
I also though about getting a second shitty gpu only for the I/O, but i read online that windows has a hard time managing 2 discrete ones instead of my actual setup.
Any recommendations? my VGA only has 4 outputs so i need 2 extras...multimonitor setups it's such a bitch honestly, but i'm already too deep into it honestly. I'm used to 3 screens for work at least.

Guys I am building a small form Factor SSF gaming PC.
It is not my main rig but I want something portable I can bring around my house to different rooms or travel to a friends with. I already have the case and a low profile GTX 1650 Asus GPU.
For the CPU I think I will get a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X which I will run in Eco mode because I want something running at TDP 65W or less. I'm not trying to heat my house to play games on a GTX 1650. I'm also considering a Ryzen 5 5600X if I want to save a bit of money.
Anyways I need to choose a motherboard. I've never had AMD before so I need some help.
I want

"A" boards are the cheapest boards. I'm going to ignore A320, and there is no A420 so let's talk A520 & B550.
Assuming Zen 2 or 3, then:
A520 is PCIe 3.0 only and no overclocking. I think you can still apply XMP profiles. Unsure on manual tweaks/tuning there for RAM. CPU overclocking isn't really where you get the juice out of the system on AMD platforms so not the end of the world. No fan for the chipset, AFAIK.
B550 gives you 16 GPU PCIe 4.0 lanes & 4 PCIe 4.0 lanes for a m.2 drive. Any extras would be PCIe 3.0. Also allows overclocking. No fan for the chipset.
X570 is PCIE 4.0 all the way, but the chipset has a fan on almost every board. Not an issue normally but I'm fairly certain than in a ITX setup a X570 will be running warmer than an otherwise equivalent B550.
Older or cheaper platforms are more likely to come with WiFi 5 rather than WiFi 6.
I'd stick to B550 for this. Ignore anything that says B550A. It isn't really B550, but should just be limited to prebuilts/oem IIRC.
Efficient VRMs are fairly important for keeping heat down too. Almost all B550 ITX should be fine for 8 cores i.e. not overloaded/throttling. Some are going to have a bad time with 12/16 core parts. Just down to density. Probably avoid ASRock on the basis of VRMs for an ITX. See if the board you are looking at has decent VRM results from reviewers.
After that it is really just finding the boards that have the features you want - I tend to go via the manufacturer's website. There aren't (or weren't when I last checked) that many B550 ITX compared to larger form factors, so you shouldn't have too hard a job. Tradeoffs may be required.

Displayport and usb-c has the ability to daisy chain. I take it none of your monitors can do that since you are talking DVI. Google those options, maybe you can make that work.

EDIT - Update, ordered the Ryzen 5 5600X. Also ordered a Flex ATX PSU. Now just need the MOBO and RAM and a M.2 drive. As soon as its assembled I will post pics.

I have the itch to either upgrade my system or build another system, but shortages continue
I actually did this after my new recent build. I took my old old components (6700k & GTX 1070) and put them in a mini-ITX build. It smol now.
Your story actually had me thinking what my 1070 is worth, though, and holy crap, it's literally more than what I paid for! The 1070 was $379 retail. Wondering if I should just sell it now.

Initially I was thinking that these newegg shuffles were garbage but then I saw how good the second hand market is and maybe it is totally worth it to a certain degree once I sell my 2080(after acquiring a new card that is).

They have to be built for it. I believe you need in and out ports. I don't have any experience doing it, I just know it's a feature from DP 1.2 and up. Maybe there are adapters to be used. I'm pretty sure there are DP hubs. That's why I said give it a google. I can't provide much more help than that.
A DP daisy chain would be a cable from the source(videocard) to monitor, then another cable from monitor to 2nd monitor. There has to be in DP and out DP ports on at least on of your monitors. Otherwise a hub/splitter.

Yeah, thanks. Apparently my current dp monitors support it but there is some shenanigans going on with either the drivers or me having the integrated gpu activated at the same time than the dedicated one, so it kinda doesn't work right now(it only mirrors the displays instead of extending) It should tho, if i build one without an integreted GPU, so i think i'll test that before buying an auxiliary one for the new rig.

AMD's Store MI seems to be pretty good. I’m mixing 8TB disc with a 1TB nvme cache. Not sure if that 1TB is excessive.

Very open ended question, but understandably one we've all faced at some time in our lives.
For starters, what kind of performance are you looking to achieve, and at what cost? For example, do you want to run Cyberpunk at 4K 60 FPS, or do you want to play Counter Strike at 1080p 240 FPS? Once you've determined that, you can begin to price the parts and then decide if it's too expensive for you. However, there's no straightforward answer as to which parts to buy. This will come down to understanding why one part may be more expensive than another. Some of the price differences will come down to various bells and whistles, but some of it may even come down to a brand premium.
So, first question again, determine what kind of performance you're looking for.
Basically doing this exact build with the same case in black.
Going to run it with the Ryzen 5 5600X (wanted something 65W TDP or lower for heat and energy consumption concerns). It just arrived today!
Going to run a 300W Flex ATX PSU, the Asus GTX 1650 I mentioned before. Probably will run the OS off a 250 GB M.2 Drive and then will somehow fit two 2.5inch SSDs in there of 1 or 2TB each for games.
Will have 2 wireless xbox series X controllers and then just a power cable and HDMI cable and I can pretty much bring it anywhere. I have the case already, it is impressively small.

60/1080P is super doable and not too costly.

I really like this laptop, but hate the soldered ram. I was intending on holding out for a 17" version. The reviewers all crap on the fact that it has no webcam, but that is probably my favorite feature. There was an Intel version leaked and it now has a webcam. So any future version will most likely have that. I may just buckle down and order one.
My current laptop does everything I want but the gtx1060 is getting a little long in the tooth.

I don’t see me needing more than the 16 gig it comes with, so the soldered ram doesn’t bother me much. And you’re right about the webcam. If I want to use one, I have a perfectly decent usb 1080p I can stick in.
All in all, it does everything I ask of it. it’s a really good gaming laptop, but sensible looking enough to use for work as well. Very happy with it.

I just noted that there is a place selling the Ryzen 3400G brand new for £170! I expected to be rocking a RTX 3060Ti or 3070 by now, but you all know why that hasn't happened...
I don't have a desktop PC at all and am having to rely on an old Intel i3 laptop (with Intel HD 620 igpu), so even a desktop 3400G will be a big upgrade for me. I'd be happy just to be able to play older (late 360/PS3, early PS4 era) PC games at 1080p 60fps for now, and would buy an RTX 3060ti/3070 (or maybe an RTX 4070 at this rate!) as soon as they became readily available. Are there any problems I'm not spotting in that upgrade path?

Not sure I would do that, I think the 3600 hundred paired with an ebay’d rx 480 or 580 would be a better stopgap.

As long as you're aware that the 3400G is Zen+, not Zen2. I wouldn't for that money but these are trying times & only £40 higher than it used to retail for isn't horrendous... but it is ooold.
New 5000 series APUs with Zen 3 are "here" but oem only for now. No bets on what availability and eventual pricing will be like when the public can get a hold of them.
You'd probably want a better CPU when you do upgrade to a dGPU sooo need to check for motherboard compatibility. A little messy there as IIRC B550/X570 don't officially support the 3200G & 3400G. B450 is the middle ground I guess, but has drawbacks.
As a "fuck this situation" stopgap... I get it.

Best Buy has had 3080 prebuilts coming in and out of stock often the last 2 or 3 days
Currently have a Cyberpower 11900k 3080 for $2500 while not the greatest prebuilt add a few things like a better cooler and it would be a kick ass PC which is what I plan to do with that system as I just placed an order

One thing that frustrates me about BestBuy's site is that for some thing I can't have it shipped it me... I have to buy it online and have it available at a store within 250 miles and then I have to go to the store on a certain day and pick it up. Why can't they just ship like everyone else?

I like using Best Buy as I usually get their 3 year warranty for free on every major purchase and it has proven useful time and time again.
Its super nice just walking in the store and telling them whats wrong and they had me a new one.
But yeah for me my closest BB here in Indiana is over an hour away

I went with a Noctua NH-U14S, always like their coolers. Everything arrived pretty quick, so I have been using the new build since Tuesday. The video card was from the EVGA queue that you can put in for, which I did forever ago and got selected on the 12th.

Since it was league launch, Path of Exile, but there's a whole list of games I didn't play on purpose before like Red Dead Redemption II which I'm really looking forward to. And it's a beast so far.
Haven't overclocked anything yet, other than the slight bump from adjusting the memory profile, and I haven't fixed it in place so it's doing its turbo thing still. So we are still in the mid/high 60s when stressed (other than prime 95 of course) CPU package right this second is 28 and GPU 22.9. The GPU with the built in radiator I don't think I will ever have to worry about, even when doing something stressful it keeps things pretty cool. For the CPU I'm super impressed with the 14S, but the fan could be 3x louder and I still couldn't hear it I bet, so adding another in a push pull configuration might happen.

Quick question for y'all. I need a mouse recommendation. I'm slowly updating my home office and decluttering my desk. No wires.
I need a new wireless mouse, currently I use the a G502 Hero. I could go for the wireless version of that mouse, but I'm not sure it's warranted or needed as I really only ever use 4 buttons, but I do like the comfort of it (thumb rest is nice). G703 or G pro wireless look good. Maybe a razer option. Suggestions.
