So i have to buy my new oled tv 55" for pc and console gaming and mostly low res media content, hopefully i can find some good BF offer and i thought to ask to the neogaf experts:

What i don't care for:

Design and how ugly it is
Sound prowess
Smart tv stuff and UI or how fast the menus are (i literally use the tv as a pc monitor)
Hdr prowess (barely use it 1-2 times per year)
High brightness (literally zero care, i play in a dark room, even 100 nits are enough)


What i care for:

It need to have nvidia g-sync or be g-sync compatible
At least 2 hdmi 2.1 for pc and ps5 (not sure if switch 2 needs a 2.1 but it is not a priority)
It need to be color accurate out of the box (never calibrated a tv and i'm not gonna start now)
Game mode that doesn't look as mute and shit as my current lg c1 game mode
Good upscaling for low resolution stuff (not a priority)


The current choices are

Lg g5 (but i didn't had a great experience with the c1 so i would like to avoid lg unless they really made a good tv this time)
Sony bravia 8 mark 2 (very pricey so it need to be noticeably better)
Panasonic z95b (my favourite pick but also the most pricey and i heard it is not exceptional for gaming)
Whatever samsung oled you advice in the 1500-2000 euros price range (and it must be oled, not something with almost perfect blacks)

I'm gonna buy a miniled when the tech is gonna be out for a couple of years and not in its infancy phase.

Just don't buy a Samsung OLED. I have an S90C which I love. But the OS is shit and I refuse to update it as well. Because Samsung fucks your tv up with each new update.

I'd go for the LG or Panasonic. Personally I will go for the Panasonic. Excellent OLED

Samsung was always the last choice of the bunch but i don't really care about the os, the tv is only gonna work as pc monitor, i'm never gonna engage with the os at all.

I need to find a good offer for the panasonic because it is a bit out of my budget.

I was hoping for people to make a case for sony and lg...

55 is perfect for my needs.

I'm not gonna buy an lg just because they are cheap, before the c1 i had a panasonic and the difference is night and day between the 2 brands for the things i care for.
I prefer having a smaller but better tv.

- Are movies the most important? --> Panasonic
- Are games the most important? --> LG
- Do you want the best choice in between? --> Sony

Been more less like this for years. Samsung I would not recommend at all.

I don't know how reliable Panasonic is with their Firmware but Sony is very, very bad. Always looked with envy to my bro with an LG because he was getting updates and improvements all the time.

i didn't enjoyed the c1 for gaming at all, yes it had the best hmdi port and the best response time but non-calibrated game mode look like shit, and the color accuracy out of the box is abysmal.

I don't have experience with Sony OLEDs. But I had a few Sony LCDs over the years and they were great. If the Panasonic is out of your range, well you can't go wrong with LG. They are great OLEDs and you most certainly won't be disappointed

Like mentioned I have an older OLED so I can't really comment but I usually watch all of Vincents videos and usually for gaming the recommendation is either LG or Samsung.
If I'd buy a TV for gaming today I'd honestly go with LG. But since you say you have bad experience dunno... seems it'll boil down to Sony for you.

I know the drill, believe me. I've been holding out myself for the next big jump and RGB MiniLED may just be it considering that I still have one of the early OLEDs.

My goal was always to wait until something significant comes around. I don't want to buy a new TV and have to check with a colorimeter to see the difference in brightness. So if RGB MiniLED isn't that next year I'll just wait a bit longer. MicroLED will be here one day eventually and then we probably peaked when it comes to picture quaility.

In italy the samsung and the lg are very close in price, the panasonic and the sony are the 2 that cost sensibly more.

P.s. reading around on reddit it seems like the matte screen of the samsung is not ideal for dark rooms and it mute blacks and colors...

ps5 and almost all pc games dont support dolby vision so for gaming I wouldnt call it it a worthy feature. For movies/shows tho it's great, better than standard HDR.
