I need help chosing my new oled tv

So i have to buy my new oled tv 55" for pc and console gaming and mostly low res media content, hopefully i can find some good BF offer and i thought to ask to the neogaf experts:

What i don't care for:

Design and how ugly it is
Sound prowess
Smart tv stuff and UI or how fast the menus are (i literally use the tv as a pc monitor)
Hdr prowess (barely use it 1-2 times per year)
High brightness (literally zero care, i play in a dark room, even 100 nits are enough)

What i care for:

It need to have nvidia g-sync or be g-sync compatible
At least 2 hdmi 2.1 for pc and ps5 (not sure if switch 2 needs a 2.1 but it is not a priority)
It need to be color accurate out of the box (never calibrated a tv and i'm not gonna start now)
Game mode that doesn't look as mute and shit as my current lg c1 game mode
Good upscaling for low resolution stuff (not a priority)

The current choices are

Lg g5 (but i didn't had a great experience with the c1 so i would like to avoid lg unless they really made a good tv this time)
Sony bravia 8 mark 2 (very pricey so it need to be noticeably better)
Panasonic z95b (my favourite pick but also the most pricey and i heard it is not exceptional for gaming)
Whatever samsung oled you advice in the 1500-2000 euros price range (and it must be oled, not something with almost perfect blacks)

Thanks in advance.

Wait a year longer. Sony will be coming with RGB-Mini LED and it has a good chance of being superior than OLED.

And a sony miniled is gonna cost 2 times my budget at best, no thanks.

I'm gonna buy a miniled when the tech is gonna be out for a couple of years and not in its infancy phase.

Also i need new tv now, i have been done with my c1 for years and i don't wanna wait anymore.

Just don't buy a Samsung OLED. I have an S90C which I love. But the OS is shit and I refuse to update it as well. Because Samsung fucks your tv up with each new update.

I'd go for the LG or Panasonic. Personally I will go for the Panasonic. Excellent OLED

Samsung was always the last choice of the bunch but i don't really care about the os, the tv is only gonna work as pc monitor, i'm never gonna engage with the os at all.

I need to find a good offer for the panasonic because it is a bit out of my budget.

I was hoping for people to make a case for sony and lg...

Why spend 2000 euros on a 55" TV? Take up a wall and go LG C5 77".
I hate wall mounting and i don't have the space for it anyway.

55 is perfect for my needs.

I'm not gonna buy an lg just because they are cheap, before the c1 i had a panasonic and the difference is night and day between the 2 brands for the things i care for.
I prefer having a smaller but better tv.

I dunno. I have a Sony Bravia A1, which was their first OLED, and it's still running fine.

If you have to choose the standard way to go is usually:

- Are movies the most important? --> Panasonic
- Are games the most important? --> LG
- Do you want the best choice in between? --> Sony

Been more less like this for years. Samsung I would not recommend at all.

I don't know how reliable Panasonic is with their Firmware but Sony is very, very bad. Always looked with envy to my bro with an LG because he was getting updates and improvements all the time.

i didn't enjoyed the c1 for gaming at all, yes it had the best hmdi port and the best response time but non-calibrated game mode look like shit, and the color accuracy out of the box is abysmal.

Is the g5 better in those aspects or it still sucks when not-calibrated? The panasonic usually have the best color accuracy out of the box so that's a super strong positive point for me because i'm never gonna calibrate my tv.

Now all brands have at least 2 full bandwitch hdmi 2.1 ports and decent response times and i don't give a fuck about high brightness and good hdr so the advantages of the lg are not as clear as back in the day.

Just watch Vincents Best TV of 2025 videoand then choose. He really knows his stuff. Best channel for TVs.

I already saw that video i think but i wanted some other opinions from gamers like me over a more generic review.

I don't think they even speak about gaming prowess in that video...

I don't have experience with Sony OLEDs. But I had a few Sony LCDs over the years and they were great. If the Panasonic is out of your range, well you can't go wrong with LG. They are great OLEDs and you most certainly won't be disappointed

Don't. In the world of HDTVs you'd be waiting forever because there'll always be much improved tech waiting around the corner.

I'll wait for that Dolby Vision 2.0!

I'll wait for HDMI 2.2!

I'll wait for QDOLED with better performance in bright rooms!

I'll wait for those improved miniLEDs!

I'll wait for microLED!

Like mentioned I have an older OLED so I can't really comment but I usually watch all of Vincents videos and usually for gaming the recommendation is either LG or Samsung.
If I'd buy a TV for gaming today I'd honestly go with LG. But since you say you have bad experience dunno... seems it'll boil down to Sony for you.

I know the drill, believe me. I've been holding out myself for the next big jump and RGB MiniLED may just be it considering that I still have one of the early OLEDs.

My goal was always to wait until something significant comes around. I don't want to buy a new TV and have to check with a colorimeter to see the difference in brightness. So if RGB MiniLED isn't that next year I'll just wait a bit longer. MicroLED will be here one day eventually and then we probably peaked when it comes to picture quaility.

Sony's are pricey but the processing across the board is the best, even in game mode, which is why it's annoying they have the least HDMI ports and such.

Their recommendation is the Samsung s95f OLED

Pricey but seems to fit all of your requirements as well.

Why? What's wrong with Samsung OLED or QLED for that matter? Just curiosity.

In italy the samsung and the lg are very close in price, the panasonic and the sony are the 2 that cost sensibly more.

Is this the correct model?

P.s. reading around on reddit it seems like the matte screen of the samsung is not ideal for dark rooms and it mute blacks and colors...

Wait a moment, is this true?

Yes, the LG G5 is likely worse than the LG C1 in terms of burn-in resistance, though both can experience it. Concerns have been raised about the G5's increased brightness and heat from its new tandem panel, which could lead to faster burn-in compared to older LG OLEDs like the C1.

So instead of improving they are getting worse with burn in resistance?

Why the fuck nobody told me that i can move game mode into another mode with allm and some other shit i'm reading on reddit...

This is game changer (pun intented)

Well yes, but this is pretty much with any model for any company. The brighter oleds become the higher the chances burn-in might happen, but with pixel-refresh and no super overuse you should be fine I guess. Also make sure to take into account VRR flicker since you'll be using it for gaming. Most people avoid talking about that. if youre still undecided remember RTings does some rpetty advanced reviews instead of your generic "yeah this is good!". some list, but feel free to browse all their tv reviews https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/by-usage/video-gaming

Rtings would be your friend.

I have particular needs, that's why i asked for a more personal opinion, cold datas tells me nothing.

I don't care about brightness and hdr but apparently this shit is 80% of the discussion about these tvs...

Here's what you do -- find the top ... 3 or 4 that you're interested in. Buy all of them, and send them to me. I will do non-stop research to determine the best one, and then repackage and send that one your way.

This is all out of the goodness of my heart, mind you.

I would just get the LG. They make the OLED panel that all the other TVs use. Sony and Samsung are the other two good TV dealers but they have a higher price-point. LG is a great TV.

Reading your needs, I'd go for an LG C5 100%.

No reason to pay more for the G5 as the main benefit of the G5 is brightness and HDR punch, which you don't care about.

The Bravia 8 II is nice, but not at all worth the price whatseover and will be worse than the C5 for gaming. With the C5 you're gaining 4 HDMI 2.1 ports compared to 2 with the Sony, and you're gaining 144hz refresh rate vs 120hz with the Sony. Plus lower input latency than the Sony. Plus there's no dimming with C5s game mode All for like half the price.

I understand you have a soured opinion on LG, but honestly they're statistically the most reliable OLED on the market. Sony's fine but I would avoid Samsung as they're notorious for panel issues. The Panasonic is nice too, but expensive. I'm also not personally a fan of the Panasonic's aesthetics, the big built-in speaker is a waste if you don't care about sound prowess like you said in your post, and I hate that they run FireTV OS.

I know its annoying, but you should have a 30 day return policy, so buy one, try it, dont like it return it. C'est la vie.
Bingo, unless the tv is fucked and full of dead pixels, i'm not gonna do that so i have to study before buying the tv, i don't want any surprise or have to return it.

S90C is old, the S90F is an amazing OLED.

You should tho. There is no ideal monitor or tv for you, they all have flaws that may not suit your needs and it's hard to tell until you've actually seen it. Don't you have showrooms where you can check them out live or sumshit?

I always cheaped out with tvs, this time i want the top gamma of a brand, g5 also goeat to 165hz so it is even better for a powerfull pc like mine.

G5 also have a better panel, from reddit

The G5 has a completely different panel from the C5, as per the new 4 layer tandem rgb structure LG has developed for it. So, whereas last year, the G4 didn't really have that big of a color volume increase over the C4, the G5 now has a significant color volume increase over the C5, and on top of that is much, much brighter than the G4. The G4 is one of the best tvs on the planet, but if you put the G5 next to it, it makes the G4 look almost washed out in a lot of scenes.

G5 definitely has a better panel, but you said you don't care about HDR or brightness.... That better panel/advanced panel tech is used almost entirely for HDR and brightness. That's what color volume is; maintaining deep and accurate color saturation even at super high brightness levels.

I own a 77" G5 and absolutely adore it. Best TV on the planet for my needs. But again, if you're not looking for HDR punch and brightness there's no need to pay out the ass for the "best" TV (as you won't be benefitting from those features), unless you REALLY need that 165hz instead of 144hz.

EDIT - Re-reading your post, i think you care more about brightness/HDR than you realize. Your main complaint about the C1 is it looking "washed out" in game mode. In reality what you're losing in game mode with the C1 is brightness/HDR/specular highlight detail. If you really only cared about playing in 100nits you would be perfectly content with the C1 in game mode.

Places that show tvs usually have vivid mode on to make them look all bright and colorful, it is a waste of time and sicily is not exactly avangarde when it comes to tech, most places don't even have panasonic tv or the top gamma tvs to show...

for gaming, never buy a Sony. that's advice 1.

advice 2, don't buy a Samsung unless you are ready to deal with their slow UI. they have good gaming features but their OS is ass.

advice 3, LG is the best all around package, and I don't think you will get very noticeably better image quality on any other brand given how similar nearly all high end OLED screens look these days.

if you want the best gaming TV, I think the LG G5 is probably the king,
followed by the Samsung S95F

Color volume also matter for sdr content, it's not just for hdr, even if it is a 20% improvement, buying a tv with a inferior panel would not sit well with me.

But i play like 1-2 games per year with hdr when i use my ps5 so i guess it matter a tiny bit, i just don't use it on pc because i'm too lazy to change setting on pc on a game per game basis and let's be honest, very few games have accurate hdr even nowadays.
