I've been buying console games since the Sega Mega-Drive (Genesis) and PS1 era, and in the current generation, I purchase them for PS5.

PC gaming has undeniable advantages.
For example, only on PC you can truly experience the NEXT-GEN feeling - playing at smooth 120 FPS in 4K resolution.
Add a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio to that, and it's pure ecstasy!
Imagine the leap from 4:3 to 16:9 - going from 16:9 to 21:9 (with 120 fps) is just as revolutionary. THIS IS THE NEW GENERATION.

So why are they forcing me to pirate games?
I want to buy my favorite titles and keep them in my personal collection.
I'm even willing to pay for them despite developers often lacking the basic competence to include such simple features as disabling the HUD, unlocked framerate, or proper ultrawide support in cutscenes (which modders can fix with simple patches).

So

I WANT TO BUY GAMES ON PC ON PHYSICAL MEDIA

FUCK YOUR DIGITAL-ONLY GAMES

NO PHYSICAL COPY? OK, TORRENTS.

-Blu-Ray burner
-Case of empty cases
-GOG account

Boom. Next question.

Sounds like you're just trying to justify pirating. It's not like you've been blindsided by the lack of physical copies. How much useless clutter do you want sitting around anyway? Modern physical copies don't even come with instruction booklets and many of them need you to download data anyway.

Ok, they don't want my money, no problem
Maybe should have taken the hint when they stopped trying to sell you optical discs, booklets and plastic cases. At this point we're closer on the tech tree to AI powered robots coming to your house to play out an IRL interactive game scenario. Optical discs are pretty quaint though, I'll give you that.

That's what I'm getting out of this. I don't know anyone, personally, that doesn't like Steam. Know some people who prefer physical, but have no issue with digital. This just seems to be a justification for pirating.

I love it. This is why the PS5 Pro is really going to take off this year.

One might hope you keep on pirating PC gamers, you are only hurting your platform. You don't see its faults anyway, so you are 100% immune from the damage you are causing yourself! It really is a win win. We both win when you pirate.

I want Steam to do GOG's thing of offering offline installs of games (like GOG where you can just install the game with no Steam installation required) if not to shut up the anti-DRM guys.

I feel like Valve's pro-consumer enough to do so and they have the leverage in having 90% of the market share so it's a mystery.

It'd also drastically help if they removed third party DRM from their platform

if we talking about torrents i torrent porn and wank like fucking crazy when i been on the sniff (love tori lane) but i normally buy my games because it's more convenient than pirating 1- can redownload/access anytime 2- get patches as they release, no need for repacks 3 - cloud saves forever

Most games can easily fit Blu Ray Disc

I'm not trolling at all

You are trolling, because in this day and age even if the game shipped in the old method (disk + CD key) then you would still need to go online in order to get patches/drivers etc.

So either you're trolling or you're just a shit who wants to try and justify your piracy to yourself and others.

I have 500+ games on Steam. If each one of those would be a physical box I would need a whole room just to store all the cases.

Plus nowadays physical games are just a case and a Blu-ray. Personal opinion buy without instruction booklets they lose most of the appeal.

This whole thing sounds like some self-imposed problem and an excuse to say "I'm only pirating games because they're digital"

This has been the case for like the past 10 years.

You're pirating games because you want to OP.

if you would please consult the graphs

Consulted.

Cool infographic, bro. Now do one where you break into a concert, copy the whole show, and tell the performers they don't deserve a ticket sale because you 'didn't remove the original'. Still piracy. Still leeching off someone else's work. Still clown behavior

Just say you want to steal shit you fucking crybaby

Just buy the new Switch or a PlayStation if you want to keep supporting physical games.

You won't find it on PC.
Yeah, companies don't make physical games for PC anymore, and they haven't for several years.

Hell, the last few "physical collector's editions" I got that were on PC just included a download code.

Yeah, it's really bizarre to be trying to take such a stand in 2025. I think the last physical PC game I purchased was Diablo 3 in 2012. I've always been physical over digital, but man, trying to take that stand now and for PC is extremely dated, lol.

Jesus christ what a losers...

I AM BUYING GAMES FOR PS5

I HAVE MORE MONEY THAN YOU

I CAN EASILY SPEND THEM

I AM NOT BUYING DIGITAL

I AM BUYING PHYSICAL

So you are forcing me to play a ps5 version of the game? I'm physical only
Why would I buy a inferior version?

You have a choice:
Silent HIll 2 on pc with 4k 21:9 120fps
or
Silent HIll 2 on PS5 1080p in 60 fps

Its not even a choice...
Nobody is forcing you to be physical only.

You are making a choice to pirate something because you don't want to buy digital.

You could make the choice of simply.. not buying on PC, or yes, buying on console.

Most cases don't even have disc drives your just making excuses op there's no need pirate and most games aren't even cracked anymore so your missing out big time.

-Really nice printer
-Blu-Ray burner
-Case of empty cases
-GOG account

Boom. Next question.

or a label printer and SD cards... more pricey than a BluRay, but could have the entire game installed and ready to be played like a game cartridge.

you can get 128GB SD cards for like 20 bucks each

And most newer pcs do not come with a disc drive.
Solution for those people?
It's worse, even most full tower cases don't come with 5.25" slots anymore.

I am all for physical media on consoles and I have several hundred games on GoG, but OP is being ridiculous and is trying to justify piracy.

Edit: What's funny is that I recently got back into CDs and even bought a desktop CD player I can hook up to my DAC. So I am going back to physical media just not like OP's straw man.

people in this thread are literally defending publishers so that you can't resell the game yourself
