This is on the publisher, Krafton, and not on the developer, Striking Distance Studios. Krafton has already made a ton of really stupid comments, this being one of many.
"
Krafton's financial reporting that The Callisto Protocol was still targeting a 2022 release, and what's more, the level of quality is being described as "AAAA" (yep, that's four A's,) setting out to deliver the highest level of quality, as well as the maximum horror experience."
It's just a stupid publisher trying really hard to flex, which isn't unexpected in a financial report. It's unfortunately standard for them to make ridiculous comments like this.
I personally don't understand all the negativity. Striking Distance Studios is a new studio founded by Glen Schofield, and this is their first game. I think for a first game at a new studio, it looks solid. It's apparent that he (and some of the OG devs) loved Dead Space a lot, and they weren't ready to be done with it. So, this was the next best thing they could do. I think the game will be decent, if not more than that, which is what I'm hoping for. But I'm trying not to expect anything too large. Though its pretty hard as I was a huge Dead Space fan, haha.
I get some folks being turned off by the slide scene, but I think it's just more of them wanting to hammer home that this is THEIR Dead Space.
We've seen quite a bit of small pieces of footage from the game, but there's a whole lot of game there that we haven't seen. I think it's fair to accept this game for what it is, not for what it isn't because of something Krafton said in a financial report.
