SOLD OUT IDENTITY CRISIS 2nd PRINT

PRESS RELEASE

A full week before its original in-store date of October 13, IDENTITY CRISIS #1 Second Printing has sold out at DC Comics. This blockbuster miniseries is written by New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer with art by Rags Morales & Michael Bair and covers by Michael Turner. The new printing has been rescheduled to arrive in stores on October 20.

"Thanks to DC for supporting this book with a new printing which allows people to read it at the original price," says Meltzer. "And thanks to the incredible support of retailers and readers who bought the first printing and were there from the start. They're the only reason we're here and the only reason people started talking about it!"

"This new printing sold out even faster than we expected," says Bob Wayne, DC's VP - Sales & Marketing. "Clearly, consumer demand for IDENTITY CRISIS continues to be very strong, so we encourage retailers to make sure they have enough copies of all issues in stock."
I still need to get my hands on a copy of IC #2...

The actual cover to Identity Crisis is revealed, and it's not exactly a surprise...

I guess this means
Jack Drake is definitely the next victim?

spoilers......

as spike guessed, jack drake is indeed killed. as is firestorm (or is he?) boomerang is the killer but not the mastermind. before drake is killed by boomerang, someone drops a box and a note in jack drake's apartment. the note reads "protect yourself" and there is a gun inside the box. boomerang then comes in and is shot and apparently killed by drake but he's killed by boomerang's razor boomerang

Is Robin in the issue at all or just cover?

Man, what a read.

Why didn't the JLA install all that super awesome security stuff in Jack Drake's place, especially after he found out about Robin and ESPECIALLY especially after the attacks started?

Sad stuff between Jack and Tim Drake. I'd sure feel like a bastard if I insisted on leaving only to have my father killed moments later.

So... why did the main killer guy leave a note and gun for Jack to defend himself? And Boomerang Jr. has superspeed, eh? All very interesting.

About Firestorm: the IC tie-in issue of his series came out today too.

And this issue was pretty messed up. Very touching and heartbreaking stuff,
seeing Tim's reactions (and Bruce's) as they listen to Jack Drake's final words to his son, and realize they won't get there in time to save him. The Firestorm thing was a little unexpected though, to be honest; it just felt like something DC forced in there to lead into the revamp. And is it just me, or is Kyle getting the shaft again? First Deathstroke, now Deadshot... DC needs to leave the poor guy alone, and stop sh*tting all over him; it's bad enough they booted him to bring back Hal.

So Captain Boomerang was the killer, at least this time... but who is the mastermind? Boomerang certainly wouldn't have given his intended victim the means to do in his killer, so who did? Is it another villain, or a hero? Like Bruce said, "who benefits?" Judging by this issue, I may be starting to lean towards a hero as the culprit... namely, the Atom. Jean Loring was the only victim to survive, and this whole ordeal seems to have brought her and the Atom back together.

But WHY?

Spike: My Comic Book Guy also believes that the
Atom
is the mastermind.

He's been saying it ever since
Atom was 45 minutes late for his appointment w/ the ex-wife.

One more thing:
Boomerang Jr.'s display of super-speed powers means that Golden Glider isn't his mother. So... who is? Who are the female speedsters of the DCU?

Crazy speculation flying at the DC boards is that this kid
isn't Captain Boomerang's son... he's Barry Allen's.
WTF?

Given how few female speedsters there are in the DCU, I think so too. And over in Flash there's a lot of "Barry Allen's secret" stuff going on.

He could be
both. In IC3, there's mention of the old bodyswap nonsense that used to happen in JLA. It could be Boomerang in Barry Allen's body
.

it's not the atom for god's sake.
it's not jean loring..... jeez
but i believe it is a hero and a villain who have "teamed up" to teach the other heroes of the DC universe a lesson..... i'm also starting to believe that sue dibny was killed using a yellow green lantern ring (AKA: sinestro's ring) or she burned with one after dying..... JSA #66 should have the answer to the autopsy results..... and that really blowes how they killed firestorm. he's liek teh fourth most powerful hero around and the silver knight's sword is what killed him!?!?!

If
Barry Allen is Boomerang Jr.'s son, I'm going to kill Brad Meltzer. We're talking BARRY ALLEN here, guys. Ugh.

I think the word you're looking for is father. If not, that's a pretty big twist.

Not if Barry
wasn't really Barry, as in he had his body jacked by Boomerang So its almost like a reverse rape, but Flash is a nice guy. :(

here's an interesting theory. what if boomerang was there to SAVE jack drake? anyone notice that he was shocked when drake pointed the gun at him? i *understand* he knocked down the door but notice that he was wearing gloves and was overweight.
the man who jumped on the roof was agile and wasnt wearing gloves when he opened the roof access door. and how would killing an innocent man impress his son?
booemer said that he was going to go back to the big time "with this one" but he didnt say nothing about killing...... and besides, who would hire him at his age?

This was something that also crossed my mind. The only thing that gets me is
Boomerang said he would leave a calling card. If he was going to save Jack, there'd be more than a calling card, you know, like, Jack's testimonial to the fact.
Still, seeing as how the comic is trying to misdirect us into thinking that
Boom was on the roof, and that the killer obviously knew Boom would be there
, I'm going with this theory for now.

That spoiler is not 100%... spoilers to follow:
We don't KNOW that's the Atom... only someone capable of leaving footprints inside a blood vessel inside Sue's brain. That same evidence could be replicated with someone with The Atom's abilities, technology, or emulated in a different way. It just points most obviously to The Atom.

Apparently that's not even the big reveal of this issue.
Someone else was mind wiped

That's getting to be quite a few people, as The Top from Flash was not only mind wiped, but also reprogrammed.

And you guys should know better than to think they'll reveal the true killer in issue 6. They're just stringing us along, a la Hush and Jason Todd.

True, but this time
it's a hero
.

Holy Fuck.

Batman being mindwiped was no surprise at all to me. Somebody pointed out to me him being missing from the flashback.

As far as the Atom-- I've heard that theory (and even argued it, for fun) but it was still a total shock to me. Not becuase the evidence wasn't there, but becuase it's not something I wanted to believe.

I keep going back over the story, and it does fit, although there are more questions.

1) Who attacked Jean? Was it also Boomerang, hired to do the job?

2) What did Boomerang do that was so awful that he would have a hard time being hired, if not killing Sue?

3) Why didn't Ray just stage an unsuccessful attack on Sue (like the one he planned for Jack Drake), then another one on Jean? Surely that would have worked. Was he jealous/hateful toward Ralph and Sue, as well?

In any event, I expect the Atom to get the beating of a lifetime from his ex-teammates. And the new Captain Boomerang sounds cool and dangerous.

I dismissed those Atom theories because it seemed kind of too obvious. Looks like they were right, though. I kinda wish I hadn't read any theories.

But yeah, it's certainly still POSSIBLE that it was actually someone else. I just don't find it likely. Only one issue remains and I think they'll need all of it track him down, fight him, and deal with the aftermath.

i dont want to believe it's him. as a matter of fact, since they have been using so many silver age villains why not use another guy that had the atom's tech? when the atom was in the suicide squad, adam cray stole his technology and used it as well. but cray is dead now.....unless his mind...? nah, that wouldnt be good writing and so far meltzer hasnt used any deux-ex machina plot devices.
but why would palmer do this? to get his patents back? probably but, jeez.......

p.s: batman is gonna fuck at least three people by issue#7 and mean fuck 'em up forever.

p.p.s : and to all ofthose that thought that DC was bringing back the silver age i guess this is DC's big F. U. to all of them by shattering what you think you knew about the silver age.

what if it's some sort of mind control? dr moon? phobia? is batman ever gonna work for the league again? what repercussions will these mind-wiping heroes suffer?

there's always been tension in the DC universe, but yu just dont mind wipe a hero cause you dont like what he says or thinks. i think this is all hawkman's fault. he's a republican and a savage.
