(If you are) Why are you getting an XBox One?

-Friends in that online ecosystem already.
-Halo and well, some other exclusives.
-I want both consoles. Getting a PS4 at launch and an XB1 whenever the next Halo game comes out.

Titanfall.

Might go for gaming pc instead, but if I do get an xbox one it will be for goddamn Titanfall.

X1 has the exclusives I'm interested in at this point, like Dead Rising 3, Titanfall & Halo. Beyond that, most of the folks that I play with are also all going XBox One at launch.

That made it an easy decision for me, but I'm sure down the road I will get a PS4 as well.

Honestly I know the PS4 is a better system on paper but for me i like Xbox live the controller but most of all its the games

I will get one once there are some good Kinect party games. Those are typically fun for a bunch of drunk adults. So hopefully a year after launch.

I'm buying the Xbox One because it has what I want. What does it have you say? Here, let me list them out for ya:

1. Friends; all of my friends are getting the Xbox One as well

2. Games; I am still very passionate about Halo and I can't wait to see where Master Chief goes in the future, also Titanfall and a large number of multiplats that I want to play will also be on the Xbox One.

3. Next-gen; come November, me and my friends will be tearing it up 64 player matches of Battlefield 4, something that can only be done on PCs and next-gen consoles.

4. Kinect; yes, I actually legitimately like Kinect and think that it is cool. Is it gimmicky? Yes. But I like gimmicks, so sue me. Had they not included it I would have bought it eventually anyways. Kinect 2.0 is said to be a massive improvement to the first as well.

5. Xbox LIVE; LIVE hasn't failed me yet and I'm hoping that they will continue the 2 free games a month deal after the One launches or at least make Gold more comparable to PS+. 300,000 servers also doesn't sound too bad either.

6. Controller; I have used the PS3 controller and I flat out do not like it at all. People say the PS4 controller is better but I'm not going to risk it. The 360 controller is awesome and from what I've heard has actually been made better for the One.

7. Multimedia; I'm going to keep using YouTube and Netflix on my Xbox One the same way that I do with my 360 right now

8. Digital Future; the digital sharing plan was the golden nugget inside the DRM fiasco. The ability to share an entire games library with ten people sounded amazing and everything that I've heard from Microsoft execs lately tell me that they are working on bringing the feature back for digital purchases.

9. Indie Policy/Game Development; couldn't be happier to hear that Microsoft is changing it's publishing policy for the Xbox One. They will make way more money now than if they hadn't and I will benefit from it when great indie games make their way to the Xbox One. If that wasn't enough, Microsoft will be able to turn any retail console into a devkit. Wow, that's awesome. That potentially means that even more games will be coming to the Xbox One in the future.

10. Familiarity; this isn't a feature of the One itself but I've been with Xbox ever since Halo CE came out. I know that Sony and Nintendo have done amazing things with their consoles but those things haven't generated enough interest in me to actually go out and invest in their respective ecosystems. I'm very happy and more importantly, satisfied, as being primarily an Xbox gamer.

11. At the end of the day I will still be able to do exactly what I do with my 360 now, have fun playing games. This is the most important part and should be for anyone else who would call themselves a gamer.

i don't wanna miss on the exclusives for xbox one. but i'm going to buy a ps4 later on ill stick with my ps3 for now.
games im getting for xbox one
plus all my friends are getting an xbox one.

Battlefield 4
Titanfall
dead rising 3
Halo5
Fifa14
Ryse: Son of Rome
Watch Dogs
Spark

Because GAMES.

Xbone's launch lineup is full of variety, different kinds of next gen experiences and not some game already available for pc.

Sure I'll get a PS4 down the road once it has several releases from the main WWS. It's like what I did with the Ps3

I really like my xbox and feel they will continue this on the xbox one. My friends are all on xbox and I am much more used to the xbox controller.

Though I am getting both.

I want to be able to control my TV and Xbox with Kinect. I really like this idea of improving TV beyond those incomprehensible guide controllers and not having it separate from the game system but rather a part of it.

I love Kinect, specially in games like Mass Effect 3 when I used predominantly my controller and Kinect to improve the experience, it just felt more personal.

The UI looks amazing, people can cry about ads and posting pictures of that shitty blades from 2008 but it just works. Getting to my games is fast, getting to my profile is fast, is well done and coherent.

The game selection just looks better to me. Dead Rising 3 and Killer Instinct look fresh and fun.

The controller looks awesome, that rumble thing will make even multiplats fresher and more immersion if they put it to good use.

Since the OP doesn't specify 'at launch':

I'll be getting one, because at some point I'll want to play Dead Rising 3, Quantum Break, Halo Hermit Edition, Forza Horizon 2, etc etc. Once the exclusives reach a critical mass and the price drops a bit, I'll happily pick one up now that they dropped all the shit that bothered me in the first place.

Maybe as soon as next spring.

Same reasons. I want more than just a gaming box.

Seeing Microsofts focus on the whole entertainment piece than just gaming is very appealing to me. Like the 360' the platform will evolve and more so this time as its being built around this concept.

Well i'm getting both consoles but the PS4 is for next year and i'll get the Xbox One at launch.
The reason being is that i'm actually one of the few gamers it seems that prefers Microsofts exclusives and i adore the controller, the 360 controller is the best ever imo and the new controller looks even better. It might not seem important to some people but being comfortable with the controller is super important for games imo.

The lower power difference with Xbox One doesn't bother me much simply because many games from this generation still impress me so i'm not going to worry about a machine with upwards of 10 times the power of current gen!. I also believe that you won't be able to see much difference with probably 90% of games on either system anyway as we are at the stage where both systems are capable of throwing so many polygons around that one consoles version maybe throwing around less polygons than the other but it will be near impossible to tell the difference (kind of like that statue demo thing floating around from before where one statue has like a million polys and the other one has like 10,000 polys and they both look the same).

1- More robust MP experience.
2- The games exclusives match perfectly my taste. Have you seen Titanfall yet?
3- Dedicated servers.
4- Controller ergonomics. I'm excited for the new rumble motors.
5- Loved the UI the 360 had so I'm sure the X1 will be even better.
6- Cooling approach. I believe the cooling architecture will be superb this time.
7 - More friends in XBL than PSN so no brainer for me.
8 - Possibilities of family share plan to be a reality.
9 - Day One DD
10 - Dat Cloud
11- Kinect. My kids play Kinect every day and it's always the attraction when kids come over my home for Thanksgiving, etc.
12- Project Spark

Will eventually buy PS4 but so far there are no exclusives games the PS4 can sell me at the moment.

Kinect 2.0 I had a lot of fun playing Dance Central and Kinect Sports with friends and family.
The games i play more like FIFA or CoD are multi platform so i could either get a PS4 or a Xbox but since i really like Kinect and want to see what they do with the improvments I'm getting a XBox

As bad as this sounds.. I actually trust MS to give me the best experience over Sony..

I plan on getting a PS4 down the line. It will be the cheapest of all the consoles, especially around price drop time.

As of now, I worry about PS4's interface, ecosystem, security.. etc.

Getting both on day one. X1 for exclusive software, Kinect functionality (which I like), more seamless integration with the rest of my television's services and devices. On top, I prefer the controller style of MS' consoles, the much more refined and convenient online features, and nearly every one of the people on my friends list who mains X360 have committed to X1 for pretty much the same reasons I have.

Getting all consoles here eventually, but Xbox One has the best looking game lineup for its first 6 months or so. I also like Kinect.

Crimson Dragon
Dead Rising 3
Forza 5
Killer Instinct
Kinect Sports Rivals
Project Spark
Sunset Overdrive
Titanfall
+ multiplats

Below, Fable Legends, Fantasia, and Quantum Break have me intrigued as well, but no telling when they're due for release. And I can't miss out on the next Dance Central, Forza Horizon, Crackdown, or Halo.

1. I like video games
2. The Xbox live service is still the best online service (PSN+ is a great value however)
3. I like the Halos.

-Best looking launch lineup
-Kinect 2.0 much improved so better voice commands and motion technology make it a different kind of console then PS4 so it will please me and my wife(she loves dance and fitness games)
-1080p Skype
-Superior multitasking abilities and the snap feature
-Will still have my favorite controller which is a big thing for me
-Have tons of friends on XBL and have never paid more than $40 a year for it because it goes on sale all the time which makes it cheaper then PS plus
-Whisper quiet
-Dedicated servers
-Hardware integrated smartglass
-The franchises I prefer(Halo, Gears, Crackdown, Forza, etc.)
- HDMI in
-Have you seen Titanfall???

The bottom line is it just feels like i'm getting something more then just a videogame machine which doesn't go over well on hardcore forums like this but suits my tastes these days and is simply more diverse then the competition. The core games look great, the dance and motion games will be better on X1 since developers know everyone will have a Kinect, chat with my family on Skype and snap a wikipage to the games i'm playing to instantly cheat better :P.

When I buy a console, maybe late next year, I'll buy the one that has the most games I really want to pay. X1 definitely has a shot at that.

I have both pre-ordered but will only get one of them. right now xbone is looking better. better games, better online, better controller and more potential overall with cloud/Kinect features. sure the ps4 has more power but that doesn't equal more enjoyable games or overall fun. look at 3ds and vita, get the one with the games you want. buying for other reasons only leads to disappointment.

sony has focused on getting indie games to launch first on ps4 since they don't have the money to throw around for bigger stuff but I can wait for those games or play them on pc. they haven't really impressed me with the big games.

both sides are suffering from franchise fatigue, sony more so. both companies need to bring back less tired franchises or start new ones. would be nice if Microsoft used the rare catalog a little bit more.

My reasons:

1. I love Call of Duty and want the best combination of early DLC and graphics. Dedicated servers are also great news.

2. The Xbox exclusive franchises, like Halo, Crackdown and Titanfall, are much more in line with my tastes.

3. For me, nothing touches Xbox Live for online multiplayer. I am a member through 8/2015 so that does incentivize me to stay.

4. TV functionality. I love being able to get notifications while watching regular TV. Also love the idea of snapping Skype during TV, TV during games, etc.

5. "Xbox On." Don't think that will get old any time soon.

Getting it for Killer Instinct, probably wait till Feb/March when the game is more complete though. Also Titanfall looks promising might get that too.

I will get one because:

* Killer Instinct looks awesome
* Dead Rising 3 looks like fun
* I want to play Titanfall with a controller as I'm not a fan of kb/m
* Fantasia is one of my most anticipated games.
* I actually enjoy the Kinect's functionality (as does my girlfriend) particularyly the voice command stuff.

Now, whether or not I pick up an X1 before the PS4 is still up in the air. I won't be getting either until around tax refund time next year so I'll evaluate the landscape then.

Because I love the Halo series, all of my friends and family have been on LIVE since the original Xbox, and because Xbox LIVE as a service makes anything PSN has to offer look like the minor leagues.

I'm also looking forward to the TV stuff. My gut feeling once the ONE is launched is that people are going to be shocked by how cool the integration is. Yeah yeah I know TV TV TV TV

I will get one because I've been a multi-console owner for several generations now. I'm still getting a PS4 first, but with all of Microsoft's backtracking the only difference to me now is the $100 price differential and the slightly beefier specs of the PS4. The benefits to Xbox One that I see are the Live infrastructure and my friends will be playing on that platform. I'm very comfortable with the Live ecosystem of features and stuff like dedicated servers will be a plus. Let's be honest. It's likely going to be like this gen where only each of the console manufacturers first-party games take full advantage of the respective systems. Which third party games I purchase for which system will come down to which has better peformance on which system and for online games which system my friends will be playing on.

Nfl deal (nfl ticket sure to follow)
xbox live
tv intergration
More apps
kinect 2.0
better launch lineup
better controller imho
dedicated servers (fucking halo, cod, and bf4)

It's really just killer instinct. I hope titanfall and halo games make it a better purchase but its KI all the way. Just like killzone makes me day 1 ps4.

The Flash did a pretty amazing job at laying everything out. I'm personally more interested in the exclusives on the X1. I wouldn't be competitive with Titanfall on the PC so that's not an option. Also, I've been playing COD on that controller layout since Modern Warfare, so it's what is comfortable for me. Even though the PS4 has a bit more power behind it, we don't know what that will equate to yet so I'm not worried about that as of now. Carmack seemed to think it won't be much of a difference, but there was that article floating around about Rivals looking better on one of the two. Since I recently moved away from all of my friends and family for work, I'll use Skype on it as well. I know it's not necessary, it's just a cool bonus.

In my opinion, it's completely insane for people to want one of the consoles to fail. You'd think as gamers, we would all just want what's best for each other. Whichever console you prefer, by all means, buy it and enjoy it. We've already proven that all three companies can coexist and be independently successful. Why do people want to degrade the overall gaming experience just to feel that their choice is superior.

Same reason I am getting a PS4. I love new stuff. I think the launch for both systems is mediocre as hell but I know the games are coming.

It's a feeling that will have to be precised by more games but barring some tripping like ryse, they seem to choose well their exclusives on a gameplay standpoint.

Getting both since I like new consoles (also got a Wii U and picked up a Vita at launch). Also interested in seeing how Kinect v2 turns out now that it's not neutered like the original one was before release.

Also interested in some of the games out there. The used game thing didn't affect me (although I understand why some people were against it), so even beforehand that wasn't a big issue for me.

I had a great experience with both previous Xbox consoles, and all the information I have would indicate that I will have a great experience with this one for a lot of the same reasons. I trust the Xbox division of Microsoft to give me the best online experience with the best controller, and I couldn't care less about any of these tech specs that people keep going on about.

And just for context about where it fits in with the rest of my gaming: I already have a 3DS and Wii U, and I have no plans to ever own a Vita, PS4, or PC.

Titanfall.

Might go for gaming pc instead, but if I do get an xbox one it will be for goddamn Titanfall.

Titanfall will be on 360 too. I'll probably snag it for PC because it looks like a M/KB may be the best way to play with all the quick turn wall jumps.

It has more exclusives that I'm interested in and free Fifa helps bridge the price between the consoles. I'm fine paying £25/35 extra for a Kinnect.

There is nothing grabbing me for launch on the PS4. I'm actually not really that interested in the annouced multiplats for the next gen consoles. i have no desire to play COD, BF, AC or Watchdogs. I'm going to wait till Naughty Dog has released a game on the system to purchase the PS4. To buy the PS4 would be a waste of my money as there is nothing exclusive in the immediate future that I want to put down the money to play.
