If you buy the All Digital PS5 and you get Account Banned, does that make the Console useless?

I have, I think, three posts on the first page elaboraging, but generally my thing is that people will make Trump jokes or memes, or just happen to support him in some way (Name or Forza livery, etc), and get toasted.

Obvs, nobody should be chattering about it in a Fortnite match either, but if someone happens to mention it and gets banned there, that's kind of BS. Its uncouth to talk about politics in these settings, but it shouldn't be bannable either, and it's already started in some games and community forums.

But that's the least of my worries. What about ideas? What about believing there's two genders, or any of the nutty things they get outraged about? Will that earn someone a PS5 ban eventually? These aren't communication platforms, but with lots of communication and chatter happening anyway, sometimes these things come up.

Thirdly, I worry about banning on outside actions. We've seen a bit of this, where a person gets unpersoned for saying something on social media, and gets denied personal services too.

Again, this was all explained earlier on in a better fashion, but I hope that clarifies things a bit.

I get your point, and I never supported that such talks should be banable. I've just learned the hard way that talks like these can destroy friendships etc, which is very sad in it self.

Generally I avoid it myself. I respect other peoples opinion, but as I'm right oriented, I never feel left wings accept your opinion and will do everything to convert you like some religious freak.
 
Sony/MS/Nintendo can ban your account for whatever reason/law they feel like you broke. Offensive gametags, getting reported by a troll ect ect. Read the TOS. They can also ban the console itself, so digital or not it really doesn't matter.

I would be angry if I was reported by a self proclaiming Ginger Bread Fruid Man/Woman who thought my opinion of eating Gingerbread Men was racist and Vore talk.

Those people need to be locked up away from Consoles as they would crumble at the intense weight of the Console if it fell on them.


I get what you mean though. I tend to avoid Twitter/Talking Online these days for this reason and just enjoy single player games.
 
I had my PS3 and original PSN account banned for hacking my console fix a blu-ray drive. I couldn't access any of the games I had downloaded. I assume the PS5 will operate the same way. It's a digital world, and we don't really own anything.

I worry about the same thing nowadays. With Sony being so "progressive" lately, I would not be surprised to see accounts being banned for non-progressive views. I would even bet that off-platform behavior could lead to an account ban. If you said something Conservative on Twitter or Facebook, I would assume Sony would ban your account (if it was reported to them.) I think the best thing for everyone is to make sure you keep your account names separate, and don't do anything to link them.
 
Probably so. Same with steam and all other digital accounts. If You loose the account, You loose games. digital only future is a blessing and a curse
 
My PSN account got banned after it was hacked into and I can't login or redownload any of my old content. it's fucking awful.

What a baseless assumption, I'm no cheater. My hotmail account got hacked, my retrieve information was old like an old phone number and an old email and now I'm stuck with their automated recovery service.

NO I'M NO CHEATER AND MODDER.

Hell no. They would ban your account not your console.
It's not useless since you can still create n accounts.
But yeah, it sucks to lose all your games.

Two factor authentication is a thing. If you don't have that enabled in 2020 then you're asking to get hacked. I don't know how many times there have been threads about this. Everyone should have that enabled without exception.

This is the problem with the "All Digital Future". You *DO NOT* own the games. It's a glorified rental. I can see lawsuits coming from this when it
eventually happens. PHYSICAL MEDIA ALWAYS!

P.S. If you get an all digital console Starlight Lotice Starlight Lotice let me know so I can report you for hacking. Then we'll see what happens.
